Bryn, next Monday off? Tsk, tsk, lightweight :P

All the best

Rob

Alas not Peasepud my old mucker (ageing is a process that affects us all - me and you included!)

You see I have just returned from rural Nawfook and realised that I'll be AT King's Lynn on Monday, NOT watching on the gogglebox as you'll no doubt be doing!:lol:

I'll still be going Sandy. Enjoyed the Yanks visit to a chilly and wet Lakeside last October

Excuse me Shudders - but the name is Sandie not Sandy!!!! mad0025.gificon_smile_tongue.gif

Really hoping it wont be wet like lakeside, it should be a wonderful sunny day.

Come on out everyone - it should be a great meeting party0040.gifparty0040.gifparty0040.gif

Too much hysteria about the price IMHO.

Tell me what admission charge do people expect it to be..? Am expecting replies ranging from free to £2.00...!!!

Clearly not Parsloes... There's a recession on and the majority of fans think the price is too high, take that as a straw poll and that suggests that a lot will choose not to attend due to the price of admission.

I will be attending because I want to see the Hawks and the Americans who are always a pleasure to watch, however it is a shame Ronnie Correy will not be racing. Lets hope the meeting is a safe one, I can see a win for the Hawks, however as long as we get an entertaining and safe meeting the result is irrelevant really.

I'm more skint than most at present but £12 to see this is very good value in my opinion, should be one of the top meetings of the year if previous are anything to go by, and it'so rare to see so many new riders to the UK in one meeting, can't wait!

it's not just the cost for me but a lack of intrest in the meeting. none of the twenty or so rye regulars i know are going either. i will be going to eastbourne v birmingham on saturday because league matches always take priority for me.

The fact is that in any business if you are going to be the most expensive then not just your product but the experience also has to be the best. Unfortunately we cannot say the set up at Rye is any better to the majority of the opposition. :nono:

Having attended almost all the NL meetings at Rye over the last 5 years I can tell you the biggest crowd is always when Len gives it "FREE", I'm not saying this should be his business plan but I can tell you that he makes more money when he does that, than when he charges? :drink::cheers:

Surely that should tell you that the admission price was already too expensive and now Len has chosen to put them up – my belief's are that this is an error and will result in poorer crowds and Len's response will be???????????????

Let's see now. Yesterday evening I went to Ipswich and paid £12 for a PL match. At other NL venues only Stoke charge £12 but they offer concessions at £10. Other concessions range from as low as £6 (Dudley). But, there again, this is the most expensive stadium in the land

Just a quick question. Has Thommo really been practising?

Now as if the legendary Thommo would be doing such a thing at HIS age!:wink:

I’d expect Thommo to do a few practice laps tonight! Yes he’s been practising at both Iwade and Rye House. No he’s not after a team place, but having recently bought a bike he won the under 21 British Final way back in the early seventies Thommo has certainly got the bug back again. If any ex rider wants a match race, I recon Thommo’s up for it!

Just to make everyone feel their age by the way, Thommo's 60 this year

Some might say Paul (Although I personally couldn't comment!) that you wouldn't have to learn much to be a Twit!

Its got nothing to do with not wanting Hackney back in speedway. if you read most peoples comments people wont go because £12 is ridiclous for the product you recieve.

Agreed. £10 with an £8 OAP would be about right. That way more people would be in and the more takings he would have over the bar etc. £12 plus £2 programme is the same cost for Scunthorpe v Rye House PL match (£13 + £1) which prove it's overpriced. It has nought to do with getting speedway back into London just another inflated price for a speedway meeting. They will never learn in pretty much the same way as the GP's have become a rip off and the crowds are falling year on year
