steve19620
Hi there. As part of my research into the 1972 Season, i am trying to find out which T.Owen rode in the Gerry Hussey Memorial trophy rode at Rye House on Sunday 23 July 1972. This meeting was abandoned after heat 7 due to rain, the Speedway Star did not advise which T.Owen rode in this meeting. I have a partially completed programme which advises that T.Owen was a late entry into the field. It is possible that Tom Owen was a late replacement having rode at Canterbury the previous night with Barrow. Is there anybody out there able to confirm whether this is Tom Owen ? Thanks for reading. Other option couuld be Taffy Owen.. RH was non-league at the time wasn't it so did it attract league riders..?
steve19620
Thanks for the reply. Yes it is possible that Taffy Owen could have ridden in this meeting, but my gut feeling suggests that Tom Owen is the correct option due to amount of travel expenses incurred for the journey from Canterbury to Rye House rather than Taffy's journey from the North West of England. Can anybody confirm whether its Tom or Taffy ? Thanks
