Nicki Pedersen

Recommended Posts

So, the first of the long-term stayaways looks to be now seeking a return to Elite League racing, albeit with strings attached. Yes, it seems Nicki Pedersen will lower himself sufficiently to race in the Elite League so long as the fixture list is cut in half. That's jolly altruistic of the former World Champion.

But, hang on a minute, are the final three words above a clue to the real motivation? Former World Champion. Since leaving the Elite League Pedersen has won just a solitary Grand Prix. His career has slipped alarmingly. Indeed, to such an extent that he needed a charity nomination to the circus for 2011 after dropping out of the top eight. Yes, okay, so he was World Champion in his first season away from the Elite League, but hardly in the dominant manner in which he conquered the world in 2007.

Jason Crump also claimed the world title in his first season after breaking from the Elite League, but missed out in his second season. It'll be interesting to see what becomes of him this coming season.

Could it be that they're missing regular Elite League action after all?

Yes, it seems Tomasz Gollob will lower himself sufficiently to race in the GPs despite being so vocal about the danger posed by the new silencers, and saying he wouldn't ride with them. That's total submission to the FIM by the World Champion.

Edited for you. B)

You gotta let me have this one. ;)
