I haven't seen any confirmation yet but I've heard that Round 3 will be Denmark, Russia & Oz plus a qualifier in Vojens.

That'd make the Kings Lynn round GB, Poland and Sweden plus a qualifier.

I would have thought it'd be fairer travel-wise on the Oz boys (and ME of course!) to ride at Lynn with either the Swedes or Poles at Vojens - or is this just the organisers trying to keep Poland and Denmark apart 'til the Final?

Hopefully I can find a convenient watering hole in Newcastle to watch the replay of Round 1 on Sunday Arvo.(Before heading out to Rough Park to give you-know-who a hard time!)!

Teams are seeded to semifinals according to the key (positions taken last year) - 1, 4, 6(?) in one semifinal, 2, 3, 5(?) in second (I'm not sure about 5-6 teams). So it should be Poland, Great Britain and Russia in one semifinal, Denmark, Sweden and Australia in second ...

So now it's confirmed - my above information is correct.

Event 1 (Vojens) - Denmark, Sweden, Australia, winner of QR in Lonigo (Italy, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Latvia).

Event 2 (King's Lynn) - Poland, Great Britain, Russia, winner of QR in Landshut (Germany, Ukraine, USA, Finland).

Press release today says it's the other way round!

Team Great Britain face the ultimate test in Event Two of this year’s FIM PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna Speedway World Cup when they take on defending champions Poland at King’s Lynn on July 11.

Tickets are now on sale – with an early bird discount for fans booking before July 1 - for the meeting at the Norfolk Arena. Event Two will also feature Russia and the winner of the qualifying round at Italian track Lonigo between Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Latvia.

Event One at Danish circuit Vojens on July 9 sees last season’s silver medallists Denmark host Scandinavian rivals Sweden.

They will also take on Australia, who will be determined to bounce back from their Race-Off elimination at the venue last year. The winner of the qualifier between Germany, Finland, the Ukraine and the United States at German track Landshut will join them.

The top side from each event will progress directly into the SWC Final at Gorzow, Poland on July 16. Meanwhile, the second and third-placed teams will meet at the Edward Jancarz Stadium on July 14 to scrap for the remaining two Final spots in the Race-Off.

After watching Team GB storm to victory in front of a partisan crowd at King’s Lynn last summer, BSI Speedway managing director Paul Bellamy cannot wait to see the Lions take on the world champions.

The SWC is my favourite speedway competition and yet this coming season it looks like being a non-event. Poland are just too strong. Three of the world's top four riders and the final staged in Poland, where last season they destroyed Denmark in the first round. Denmark, lest we forget, then finished runners-up to the Poles in the final at Vojens.

I feel that Sweden will be up there with the Poles this year. They have announced a pretty strong national squad for the 2011 SWC:

- Andreas Jonsson

- Jonas Davidsson

- Fredrik Lindgren

- Daniel Nermark

- Peter Ljung

- Thomas H. Jonasson

- Mikael Max

- Antonio Lindbaeck

- Dennis Andersson

- Simon Gustafsson

- David Ruud

- Linus Sundstroem

- Peter Karlsson

I think you're deluding yourself if you really believe that. None of those riders was capable of holding a place in the top eight of the GPs last season and the Poles will be weighing in with three of the top four of the GPs, assuming Holta has made peace with the authorities. The SWC is a bit of a non-event this year. Look what the Poles did to Denmark in Gorzow last year.

The SWC consistently provides the highest-quality Speedway, which is why die-hard fans/idiots like me travel from all corners of the globe to watch it whenever we can.

To dismiss it as a non-event four months out is a trifle unrealistic, surely. I take it you may not be attending any rounds this year, or will you be participating in SCB's rain dance instead?
