I have lost the battle. Once it goes, it goes, as no one is going to come up and say they have a piece of ground for us to use. So Weymouth has lost another amenity. I sent five letters to five directors of Morgan Sindall and not one of them has replied. I sent the letters on February 9 so for them to not even reply just shows what they are about. I know it’s a bit of a lost cause but hopefully the people of Weymouth will stand up and say how fed up they are, otherwise the town will become a concrete jungle. The site was designated for sport and recreation use back in 1950 so why should things change? At this rate, there will be nothing left for the kids of the town – legacies are being lost.

the sad thing about the loss of weymouth is that when prepared right it could be a great little race track. the situation down there is like what happened at oxford. a couple of dodgy promoters can lead to the track being lost forever. :(

Only one Dodgy Promoter!

If he had not been so bloody minded and greedy we would have seen brilliant set up with so many people who wanted to help or be involved. Instead he ostracised so many, no one else was allowed an opinion.

Hopefully there will one day be another Brian White with the vision, tenacity, and will power (and money) to get things up and running again, but I won't hold my breath.

Thanks for your efforts Harold I am sorry your dreams did not come to fruition.

Its not all doom and gloom, the article in the Echo put rather a negative spin on the situation. Whilst it looks unlikely the speedway will return to Radipole Lane any time soon, efforts are being made to look for an alternative site. Its not going to be easy but every effort will be made to find a new home for the Wildcats.

Every effort must be made to sort something out, when you look at the Morgan Sindall web site you can see why they dont responde the site looks prime for what they do but does anyone know if it would be possible to get planning permission to build on this piece of land, it was designated for sport and recreation as someone pointed out in an earlier post so has anyone contacted the council to get their take on things.

We cannot let Weymouth die again great track and whe prepared properly great racing but as said by others all it takes is one bad promoter to screw things up and Weymouth arnt the first and wont be the last who have been screwed by a promoter.

Yesterday I received a "Residents Survey" from the local Conservative party. The specific questions were pretty political but there was one very inviting section "Please tell us about any other local issues which concern you.". Well I needed no prompting on that one did I.

My reason for posting on here about it is that such surveys are often binned before reading so I wanted to let forum users who are also local residents know that they have a chance to express their views on the terrible way the Wildcats have been treated by their property development landlords. Doesn't matter how you answer the rest of the questions (for gods sake don't be abusive or silly though!) but get your views in about Speedway.

Make sure your non computer friends are also aware of this.

Whether it will do any good is of course open to question but doing nothing will DEFINITELY do no good.
