heathen79
Mildenhall state (somewhat bitterly, in my opinion) in their website press release that the meeting was abandoned after 8 heats of the final, due to the curfew after earlier floodlight failure. Stoke statement on BSPA site clarifies that there were only 8 heats planned in the final, and not 12, and that the meeting was completed, and not abandoned! There were only 8 heats printed in the programme too apparently(I didn`t go)... There were only 8 heats scheduled for the final last year too...at Mildenhall. So 8 heat finals are the norm then. Everyone guess who was in them? How do you tell your dad the heat 11 result when you get home? Well done Mildenhall
Fourentee
Apparently 12 heats were listed in the meeting's original supplementary regulations but it was made clear at the team managers' briefing that there would be only eight, as per programme. FWIW I don't think Mildenhall's press release reads bitterly. They were lying fourth, six points off the lead, so would have been unlikely winners from that point anyway. 21st century heathen
The electrics went off for...at most...2 minutes! Hardly a delay! Riders were sorting their bikes out and sorting the draw for the final! Congrats to Dudley. Not the best meeting (But by no means the worst) and going into the last heat, there could have been a 4 rider run off! Keep a few 50p's on ya mate. They might need it for the electric meter. I shouldn't joke actually. We went through a spell at Dudley Wood where it seemed there was only enough juice for either the lights on the terrace or the start gate, but not both! Thanks for the congrats. Seems some of the Dudley fans bit to obvious bait. Oh well. Well done Dudley, I'm glad you got some success, for your fans that post on here that I have time for. Anyone moaning about Roynon at this stage of the season is beyond me. Vogs assessment although brief seems fair, have respect n time for his views. He says the meeting wasn't the best but went to the wire, with Dudley taking the win. I'm glad for the likes of C21st heathen & greyhoundp who have something to celebrate. As although (never met them) seem to me to try be objective fans & unbiased but still passionate, but understanding of other clubs fans whilst also being big contributers to the NL section & speedway in general(can remember a good bit of banter taken in the right way on numerous occasions last year and through the winter) Nice for them to celebrate something positive. Cheers. That's a nice post to read. Anyone think a rider like Roynon has it easy in the National league had better think again. The quality of the league is first rate,a look around last night showed some top machinery, and quiet a few premier league reserves, and some good youngsters and some quality older riders. And Adam was made to work hard for his points. The National league is a very good league at present. Chopper The league has turned out very competitive at the top end this season, and not all because of the riders I expected to see up there. Obviously Royno and Lambert ha been winning races, but the like of Howarth, the Worrall boys, Garrity have made huge strides. Morris, Pickard and Webster have had some fantastic results and even our Armo has largely done better than I expected (though as a general comment has dipped in form a bit of late). Newman also came in and did a good job. The flip side though is that I think Kurtz and Herne overall are a touch down, though expectations were very high. I expected more from Cooper, Bekker, Taylor and Perry. If these boys start to win races and bang in some double figure scores as well it's going to be a very competitive end to the season. Well done to Dudley last night, I enjoyed it very much. Cheers. ---------------------------------------- Congrats to the boys. It sounds as though this was a little like our 4's win back in '95(?) in which we were there or thereabouts but looked as though we might come up a bit short only to steal it at the death. I don't know what it is about our team but more often than not they find something a bit extra towards the end of meetings. So that's the first 'real' piece of silverware for the trophy cabinet. Next...

Going off thread a bit but I think if Mildenhall get into the play offs they will be a very difficult team to beat over two legs. They have got to get there first but with away matches at Newport, Isle Of Wight & Hackney to come (and in both of the latter they have already either won or were winning) they can do it. The thing is their top four were very competitive at Stoke and if you look who wasn't there - Halsey and the Baseby brothers - I don't think any other team can compete with that. They might not win the away leg of any play off but they are so solid throughout they'll keep it close and tear the other team apart at West Row. If I were a betting man, my money would be on them. Islander15
Seeing as last year's NL Fours were never completed I didn't have a heat formula to go by, so I used the PL Fours from last year seeing as posts on here before the meeting were suggesting they were run the same. DEEG
Dear all Please accept my sincere apologies for the mistake in the report from Mildenhall on the NL Fours. It is entirely my fault and was down to nothing more sinister than me misunderstanding a conversation I had with a member of our promotion. At no point would I have wanted to undermine the event or indeed Dudley's tremendous victory on the night which Michael Lee saluted, further on in the report. It was never an attempt to appear bitter, a lie or appear uninformed, as some posts have suggested. It was purely and simply a genuine mistake. As a journalist who has always prided myself on accuracy, the thought that I have misled or upset supporters of other clubs or given the wrong impression of Mildenhall has left me feeling angry and disappointed with myself. Thank you for taking the time to read this. David Golley (Mildenhall Press Officer)

What has Lewis improved from? He was sh!t hot about 4 years ago when 2nd halfing at Sheffield before he got injured (broken leg?). I'd not heard of him since until this season and he's just carried on from when I last saw him

As far as I was aware, this is his debut season so had nothing to improve from 3. After reading he rode for Sittingbourne you have answered my question, eventually

After reading he rode for Sittingbourne you have answered my question, eventually Lewis also rode briefly for Oxford, 2007 I think if memory serves.
