No idea, but given that the Stoke track is normally pretty fair, it should be a good meeting!

Also means, Stoke should qualify for it :D

They did indeed Bob, a very good evening

Although if memory serves they never fully finished the finals, and it was a somewhat shambolic ending

Aaah of course.Brendans blast down the back straight, not once, but twice.

It was also the meeting that you introduced me to Parsloes....!! I must get you back for that sometime! :D (Only Kidding Derek.)

Yes I recall some rowdy behaviour by you Wildcats-fans-for-the-night! Us Crusaders' Barmy Army were perfectly behaved in comparison...: why Dick Jarvis didn't even try and start a fight with Stoke's sponsors this time!

And lest we forget and most will have, 'twas the Iwade-based Sittingbourne's team's greatest ever hour...: third in the CL Fours!!! :approve:

Sadly also - to date - their last ever fixture...

They have a curfew at Stoke, instead of starting the meeting on time, they decided to have an unnessary parade and then an interval and ran out of time, I always feel they should leave the running of theses meeting with the promoters of said track, they no they dont have to mess about.

Not the BSPA.

Working with the Crusaders "in the pits", well outside in the car park as there wasnt enough rooms in the pits, was a blast.

Trying to work in the cold and rain under Deanos and Rickys van covers with the Basebys was hard work but so pleased they got third.

Hopefully see a Sittingbourne side again one day.

Yes it was October 2008 and It was a FARCE! As Team Manager of the Redcar Cubs that evening, I have never felt so let down in the sport and it felt like we had the trophy grabbed from us!

Here are the FACTS, that I know of...

We had a briefing before the meeting started, with the Referee, League co ordinator Peter Morrish and Stoke Promoter Dave Tattum. Dave told us all that they had a 9.30pm curfew, but allowing for the conditions, he would extend that time to 10pm and NO LATER! The racing should never had even started, but we where told that there was no other restaging date!

We ( The Redcar Cubs ) where 3 points ahead of Weymouth after 4 heats of an 8 heat final, when in Heat 5 ( which started at 10pm! ) when leading, Scott James spun round and in the same crash, I think it was Mark Baseby who came down as well and he needed to visit the ambulance room and Scott also needed to have his wrist checked out. We where well in control and we still had our best 2 riders on the night to go in the last 2 races!

The re run of Heat 5 saw Weymouth take the 3 points and draw level with Redcar. At this stage no one had mentioned to me anything about not racing all 8 heats. As the riders approached the tapes ready to start Heat 6, I was approached by someone, which I can't remember who, other than it wasn't an oficial, to say that was the final race of the night!!! Richard Lawson didn't even know it was a last heat decider! I'd already told Richard to just settle for 2nd place if he missed the gate, knowing we had our 2 best riders on the night going in the last 2 races.

I was stopped from being allowed to ring the referee because by that time the riders where lined up at the starting line. I wasn't very happy one bit and I made this known. I couldn't help but feel this was something personal towards me or towards Redcar?! However I did the right thing and appraoched the Weymouth Riders and management and shaked all their hands and congratulated them and then I had to try and usher Redcar fans away from Weymouth riders and officials, because as you could understand feelings where running very high after we where robbed like that!

This meeting should have being halted after Heat 4 of the final, when all riders had had 1 ride each. Also Heat 5 was started at 10pm, when we where told NO LATER than a 10pm finish!

After the meeting the referee approached me and even told me that he had suggested at the beginning of the Final that a result should stand after HEAT 4, to be fair to all teams. The suggestion wasn't accepted by Dave Tattum and there you have it!!

This meeting still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth and it still angers me when i think about it!!

The CL/NL fours has always not being given the recognition it deserves. It either runs or doesn't and when it does it turns in to a Farce!

I'm sure someone up above didn't want the Cubs to win anything that season?! We had this, we also had the Pairs title in the bag until Simon Lambert passed Scott James on bends 3 and 4 of the 3rd lap in the final and then we had the snapped chain at the start line on Aaron Summers bike, when we only wanted a 2nd place to be in the Play Off Final! Though we at least celebrated having the Riders Champion, in Benji Compton!

I would sum that season up as being Very Unlucky, Let Down , Lacked a lot of support, but we had fun a long the way!

So only a couple of weeks away from the NL Fours now. Any thoughts, predictions, etc?

I'm assuming there'll be an announcement shortly on line-ups?

It is a lousy format if like last year..Many of the riders consider it is not viable as they could be restricted to just 2 rides ,,so dont expect full strenth teams..Is it still on i have heard nothing yet ?

It's still in the Stoke programme, so I would imagine it will be on.

As for line up's etc, no idea.

tbf, the format last year was no different to previous (recent) years...

It is still a lousy format however many years it has run like that ,The riders want a minimum 4 ride meeting...It needs changing to rounds plus a proper final..

I've never been to the NL Fours, I just assumed it was run like the PLRC/ELRC. I am a bit disappointed with the lack of news - it may be NL but it should still be treated as one of the events, though I note on the BSPA website it doesn't even get listed as an event, nor does the NLRC or the NL Pairs.

It's the same in the PL 4's though. 2 groups of 4, each rider has 2 rides in the groups. If you want them to each have 4 rides, you are doubling the amount of heats needed, which would take a ridiculous amount of time.

Well exactly. As it's the same as the PL4s not sure what the particular criticism is...

Try asking the riders...
