Yes, despite saying publicly for most of the Winter that they weren't sure. And even privately allegedly indicating they wouldn't run, they turned up at the AGM as many of us expected and declared their involvement.

Newport also denied Dudley official permission to speak to Jon Armstrong in December.

Well they had to turn up to make a decision, considering the future of the hornets was dependant on the rules set for 2011. The only place they could do that was at the agm.

Yep they did that because if they were running this year then they might & probably will use him,None of our assets were given permissions to speak to anyone. So there is nothing special about that.

Seems to me that Newport were being slightly misleading with their suggestions that they would not run in 2011 and always intended to.

Continuing the contradictions, despite the club saying by email that Dudley couldn't speak to Armo, Jon himself has now said that he phoned the Malletts on the same day and they told him verbally that he could actually speak to other clubs. So were they denying permission or not?

Some clear intentions and straight talking would have not gone amiss in my opinion.

Yep that wouldnt have gone amiss.

My take on it is this:

A lot of what was said regarding the hornets came from Nick, and not from Steve, i believe that if things had been as clearcut as you think their intentions were, then they would have just decided 2 months ago.IMO the decision came down to the day. They had always stated they wanted to keep NL, but stating your intent & philosophy doesn't always fall in line with the cost or being able to do what you want within a multi-purpose league.

Also just to clarify on your point regarding contradictions

Speaking to someone without permission as a club is not the same as giving that person permission to speak to clubs.

Spoken with Steve Mallett and they arent DEFINATELY running in the NL in 2011, he still has to make a decision before tomorrows meeting. It is not a forgone conclusion that the Hornets will be in the NL.

It was put on the Official Site earlier but has now been removed because somebody jumped the gun.
