Halifaxtiger
Mildenhall are a standalone set up, and we have Hackney at Rye House in both the League and KO Cup Would have been good to have a fixture at each venue! I agree, Philip : In my view (and I suspect a few other Fen Tigers fans) would have been good to have them both at Lakeside.
Bryn
Drinking alcohol never caused Bryn any problems!! Just me having a go at him all the time...!! Suppose I'll be buying him loads more beers this season!! You? Buy me loads of beers? Nice to see you've found your sense of humour Parsnips old fruit! Are we to take it that you intend leaving your club in SW19 to now support the Hawks? As it happens, thinking back to last year, I hardly had a drink (apart from coffee!) at speedway matches in the UK but I do like to "let my hair down a bit" on my trips to Australia - reminds me, I must get a haircut soon! Now back on topic, will be great to see Hackney back in action, the HSSC have come up with some excellent ideas many of which I would have thought be implemented / tried, and who knows eventually we could see the sport back in the capital - let's hope so! SW19 is where they bash balls about with bits of wood...: something I'm sure you'd like to do to me hence the rash offer of buying you loads of beer..!! Rockets
Looks like Rocket Ronnie will be in the line up for the American touring team at Rye. That should create some interest.

Don't know why you would think I'd want to do that Parsnips old fruit. And as for being two out there's a good reason for that as I've only had one dose of caffeine so far this morn! As for the Hawks I and many others I feel sure will be interested in seeing the youngsters in the side continue their speedway apprenticeship and develop further over the course of the season.... looking forward to it. I can only recall seeing the Fen Tigers once at Arena in 'third division' action: in '96 of course. A classic 38-40 win to the visitors who featured none other than my good pals Boastie and Dean Garrod in their line-up!! Oh and Boastie won the hyperbolic 'Ace of Arena' crown in the second half!! Shadders
Anyone around for the second half last night after the Ippo match? ... We braved the cold for a few heats to see Ben Hopwood easily win his opening couple of races in times of around 61 seconds ... Brandon Freemantle looked a little slow away from the gate, but didn't look uncomfortable on the track ... Didn't catch the name of the youngster in the red kevlars who suffered a first lap ef in his first ride ... Did I miss anything significant after the first 3 races? ash
Adam Kirby was in the red kevlars, didn't miss much apart from Morley and Haines came out together for practice with Morley taking a tumble just before the start line on bend 4 but I didn't see what happened! Yeah, we left just after that ... Someone mentioned he may have clipped the fence. Nothing hurt apart from pride, cos he was coming out for a second go as we were leaving the stadium. Shadders
Hmm, second halves still very much part the present day at RH... We're pretty lucky not to have a curfew at Rye House (or not one that I'm aware of) to give these lads a chance to open up the throttle in a race rather than practice laps. A fair few people stayed behind to watch, but as I said earlier it was pretty chilly and my son was hungry ... Warning to anyone who was thinking of parking in the kart track car park next door ... We were turned away by track staff there as they were "closing the gates at 10pm" ... It seems that now the kart track no longer sponsors the Cobra's their attitude has changed. Cheers for the tip off... I often park there and come in the pits entrance... One time got stuck in the ref's box chatting long after the meeting, realised where the car was and paniced like crazy.. That night though it wasn't locked up but seemds attitudes have changed...

We have little choice as we have to go through the pits gate with a wheel chair as we can't access our usual place in the Tempstand if we come in through the main entrance

Can't you get the stadium to make sure there's a space for you by that back wall..? After all you're one oif the longest serving supporters and they should be supportive to those who need wheel chair access... That would be an okay place to park though your car wash expenses will rise coz you get covered in dust there!!!

jollie roger
I think Acne Awks could have a good season this year .With one qualified and two seeded riders in the British U21 Final it looks good.Add in Barry Evans ,David Mason ,Ben Morley and Brandon Freemantle it looks a fairly strong team.I do think that they need to work on team spirit as last years RH Cobras had very little.Who ever is captain needs to work on that a bit this year.I would like to see the Awks in the play offs this season. With a bit of team work it could happen. Up the Awks!!
moosetash64
The young lad in the red kevlars, adam kirby, who pulled up in his first ride after the ippo match didn't hav an ef but he had hurt his hip/pelvis at school on the monday. I had sed no to him riding but adam sed he wanted to giv it a go but found as soon as he started he was in too much pain so did the sensible thing and pulled up. He was gutted not to take any further part of the 2nd hlf cus all he wants to do is ride.
olddon
I have searched everywhere for a composite Hackney Hawks fixture list - for home and away matches, and which of the home matches are at either Rye House or Lakeside Hammers. I did find a Hackney Reunion link via google - several in fact - but they all seem to be inactive! JACK KEEN, ERITH, KENT
