westhamboy66
He did at one stage ... I think he shed a chain My first taste of Hawks action will porbably be at Lakeside in the Good Friday double header Was looking at that meeting as well then onto to Eastbourne for the evening assuming it's run a bit quicker than our double headers. Only thing that puts me off is how cold it gets over there even during the day and if there is potentially a lot of hanging around my interest goes quickly followed by me leaving

There's always a trip to the snack bar to warm you up a little

Parsloes 1928 nearly
Just seen how the Hawks home meetings will be split next season and i'm quite disappointed tbh. Seems that the stand alone sides will be visiting Lakeside, whilst the second clubs of other tracks will be coming to Rye, Belle Vue aside, all the better looking meetings in the league will be at Lakeside... This way of dividing the fixtures though makes a lot of sense.. For the Lakeside fans this is all new stuff and it'll be far more attractive to potential punters IMHO, to be seeing the 'stand-alones' coming than what might be (if a tad unfairly) be seen as the 'second' sides of PL teams... Which brings me back to the point I've made many times, why don't more (all...?) of those second sides use a 'stand-alone' type name...? (Bournemouth riding at Poole is the recent example of where this did happen...) Might just in one extent be semantics, but it sure as heck would make the third tier look more interesting and more a separate entity... Knowing that if a rider is riding for a second team and then progresses to the first team then they have actually progressed... Bournemouth/Poole I discount because I really didn't see it as Poole promotion training up future riders for the Poole team. I can see Hackney Hawks riders being progressed to Rye House and then Lakeside. Possibly Belle Vue Colts might move to Workington (?) and then Belle Vue. Oh of course, the Rye fans don't matter and the riders won't need their wages paid when they race at Rye. Should have been an even split down the middle, not second sides go to Rye and the stand-alones go to Lakeside.

Should have been an even split down the middle, not second sides go to Rye and the stand-alones go to Lakeside. But there's nothing intrinsically second rate about the 'second sides'... And surely you can see the commercial merit in concentrating the stand-alones where a potentially newer NL audience may be more attracted to see them..? BTW not seen it mentioned elsewhere on here but just saw it on the Stoke site that it's the Potters who are first of the stand-alones to take on the Hawks - at Lakeside (sorry, Ben!) on Good Friday afternoon! Mildenhall are a standalone set up, and we have Hackney at Rye House in both the League and KO Cup Would have been good to have a fixture at each venue! Hmm, well it was RocketBen1 who made the statement about the fixtures being divided this way...: did wonder where he'd got this from but seemingly he was wrong in any case! And of course Phil you're right, it would've certainly had made sense for the Fen Tigers to have ridden one of the fixtures at Lakeside... Ben91
Don't be pedantic "parsnips old fruit." I never stated anything, however look at the fixtures and tell me honestly the tastier looking meetings aren't at lakeside...

westhamboy66
Watch from the bar then! There's no bar on the second bend and any self respecting speedway fan knows thats the only place to watch from plus alcohol is the root of all evil and we all know that abuse of such a substance causes all sorts of problems!!! No "mini-debate" just a lot of hot air from you trying to jump down someone's throat because you aren't agreeing with them (Par for the course.) I didn't state what I said as gospel did I?... The words "it seems" should really have indicated to you I hadn't completely digested the Hawks fixture list and know it date for date from memory. Btw, definition of word "seems" is: "it appears; it is understood as true; it is said" And you'd just mentioned you'd "seen how the Hawks home meetings will be split" AND you then go on to argue over a number of postings about how bad this is... I'm something of a loss to understand how we were, in fact, meant to think that what you were saying was possibly not the case at all... Or did you just have a change of heart when Phil pointed out that Mildenhall (a QUARTER therefore of all the proper stand-alones in any case) WEREN'T riding at Lakeside but were at Rye!!
