I do not wish to comment on the subject of Mr Ribbons' suitability or otherwise to be a Promoter. I do not know enough about his application to enable me to do that. However, his efforts on behalf of our sport do not deserve to be continuously denegrated in such a sanctimonious fashion by an unknown who does not have the courage to add his name.

So to 25 Year Fan I would say that the level of your piousness is blinkering your ability to know when it is time to stop your outrageous personal public attack.

Can we please be spared any more of your unpleasant vitriol towards Mr Ribbons?

Whilst he was doing his best publically I suspect you were doing nothing anonymously and there lies the diffence.

I am sorry I know I shouldn't bite but could you keep, the analogies of, the worthwhile work going on to stage second halve challenges and give riders opportunities of race practice and supporters associations doing their all to bring teams back to life out of it.

26 years Leicester Lions supporters gave to that cause including staging 'challenge matches'

to keep the name out there.

Where else do you think riders and teams are going to come from. Regardless of popular misconception pulling items out of hats is an illusion.

Oh dear, I seem to have upset TMW with the words Mickey Mouse. I have run Hackney meetings with the help and cooperation of the Sittingbourne Speedway Club [iwade] in 2003 and also ran a four team tournament with the help and cooperation of all at Weymouth Speedway in 2004. Without doubt virtually all the riders who rode at for the Hawks at Iwade where indeed riders who either where not quite ready for the then Conference League or, like many just wanted to ride. Weymouth was a step up, this included Conference League riders such as Lee Smart and Ben Powell.

Hackney haven’t raced in a league since 1991, when they folded half way through the season. Of course it has been fantastic to see riders wearing a Hawks race jacket on the odd occasion, but it’s just not the same as seeing a Hawks team racing in a league, which I’ve not seen as I said since 1991. There is no dispute that riders have to learn, some want to ride when ever they can, but to have a one off second half challenge or even a full meeting isn’t the same as the cut and thrust of a league match. As a paying spectator, many will not attend pointless challenge matches mid season or some even early season.

I could have said pointless challenge matches which in my view is a Mickey Mouse match. I hope TMW you can see where I am coming from?

You are of course quite right in most points but please cut Paul some slack over the use of 'Mickey Mouse'. Paul's one of the most genuine people I've met in the sport. I would disagree with him though about this view, but not lose one speck of respect for him.

RMC thanks for you kind words and I also hope you can see where I’m trying to come from.

And finally, I find it a little out of order that like many discussions on this forum certain people want to change the whole theme of the thread. Quite rightly people will want to respond to part of the hijacked thread . This thread is Hackney 2011 so lets keep it Hackney 2011! If we are extremely lucky we may even have a Hackney Hawks 2012 thread later this year, how great would that be!

Up the Hawks!

Its not a personal attack nor is it outragous Malcolm!

You know exactly what I mean beings you've been involved in speedway promotions and fair enough because you give your name out and your still involved, don't want to be associated with some painful home truths Malcolm!

End of the day this is a public forum in a democratic state with freedom of speech where all subjects linked to speedway can be discussed and even the man in question uses this outlet to tell those who wish to look about his problems with the sport. The beauty of internet forums is if you don't like what your seeing, don't look at it!

Again while I only say the truth and stay sensible abeit a bit to close to the sharp truth admittedly, my anonymous name on here is not an issue and until this forum makes giving out your real identity compulsory I can't see any problem!

Although Malcolm, Your right in that I've said more than enough about that man on here, I know that many people will off the record agree with me and I won't be saying owt more on the subject!

Main thing is we've got Hackey Hawks and Mildenhall Fen Tigers back in speedway!

Whilst I do not agree with your assessment of what is outrageous and what is not I agree that both of the above are a matter for rejoicing.

We have a London Club again even of it is based outside the M25.

Power to their elbow but not at Stoke.

and as an Upper Claptonian currently estranged in the midlands I could find my loyalties severly tested if my son were to ride against you

cityrebel, my dear man, they where as you said called the London Lions, so in my view you should change your record, at once !

On a serious note, most Hackney fans are pleased they where not called Hackney in 1996. The track was poor compared to what we had, traxcitment didn't really happen in my view. The only excitement for me was Lenny the Lion, pure class :D

So we have Ben Hopwood and possibly Barrie Evans subject to sponsorship.

The Lakeside website have confirmed Marc Owen, shane and Young Freemantle. Waco hopefully you can confirm Ben.

That leaves just one more. Any offers.

Dont know much about Hopwood to be honest but a cracking line up with the others.

Rockets i think Bens pretty much nailed on...Ben Hopwood is a similar standard to Lee Strudwick ie 3rd heat leader at this level..

i see that lakeside are charging £12 to get into hawks matches this season. that seems a lot if you have to buy a prog as well. some fans were saying £10 including racecard was too much at rye last year for nl matches.

It does seem a bit steep but bare in mind Lakeside have to pay rent for their stadium will be interesting to see Ryes admission prices.?

Disappointing to learn that yet again we are way under the limit, I don't see Strudwick getting a place away from Rye House unfortunately.

Still it's a good lineup and I expect most of them to improve on the averages, Freemantle being the main one to watch.

Barrie Evans

Marc Owen

Ben Hopwood

David Mason

Ben Morley

Shane Hazelden

Brandon Freemantle

That is indeed an excellent looking side. A dazzling combination of experience (indeed in Barrie & 'Magic' really THE two most top-class experienced riders in this tier, both former Riders Champs)and top quality youth: Marc surely every chance of being THE top rider in the 2011 NL..

I too though, am sad to see no place for Lee Strudwick - but am sure he'll get a team spot elsewhere.. Maybe at the Iow along with Mark & Aaron..? Or perhaps Mildenhall..?

Team is 0.81 under limit. Who would you have brought in to make that much of a difference?
