jimmy jimmy
BSI/IMG don't have carte blanc to pick who they want. The host federation, BSI/IMG and the fIM are all involved but, at the end of the day, it is the FIM who ratify the decision. Time to get rid of it and have 16 full time, wild cards are a waste of time.
spook
Time to get rid of it and have 16 full time, wild cards are a waste of time. I'm not sure IMG and the venue hosts will be agreeing with you when it comes to venues this season such as Cardiff, Gorican, and maybe even the Danish rounds...... I do wonder though if they have ever been able to quantify this and come up with statistics that back up the local wild card policy As a fan it is noticeable that the wildcards are usually well adrift of semi qualification but theoretically the 16th best rider in the world will be more than not as well, when you look at the records of people like Pepe, Antonio and KK. As frustrating as the wild card can be, they do provide variety, and also a shop window for those trying to get in....... Although he is currently suffering a little, I wonder how important Janusz's performances last season in Leszno and Bydgoszcz were for gaining his season long wild card. What I do think they should try out, if only for 1 or 2 years, is a run of 3 or 4 GP's for 3 riders who IMG and the FIM believe should be there or is strongly knocking on the door..... regardless of nationality..................... so for instance this season that could be Darcy Ward getting the first 4, Grigory Laguta the next 4, PK the next 3 (If he wanted to... why not after what Tomasz has achieved?).................... a possible advantage of doing it like this is that a chosen rider is more likely to invest enough into his equipment and find his feet than if he is in for one round.......another advantage is IMG testing the water with a rider when there are doubts instead of having to take the full plunge, like with Tai.... ................... of course this flies in the face of the current local wild card policy though.... but I wonder just how important that is and what the stats are that back it up if the system didnt work in those 1 or 2 years then they could swap it back
Vic Ridgeon
Interested to see on Twitter that Freddie Lindgren has flown out to Denmark with his British League engine for the SGP. Fingers crossed that it's as good as it has been for the majority of this season! I think Freddie needs a top four finish to avoid another year hovering around 8th

manchesterpaul
I guess tonight is going to be an indicator for the rest of the season as to whether we are to have the entertainment and exciting spectacle of last year's series, or whether we are returning to the 'from the gate' borefest of recent years. Very little discussion going ahead of the GP. I hope that's not a sign people have given up on it already. Fingers crossed we get a great meeting. This year the rounds have been boring, and the one in Gothenburg should never have been raced. So let's keep fingers, feet and eyes crossed, and hope for some real fighting and overtaking, and have a show worthy of the exitig thrill true speedway really is. 2ndbendbeerhut
Time to get rid of it and have 16 full time, wild cards are a waste of time. why not have the top 8 and 3 from the qualifiers. Then every round have 5 wild cards. If you doing well you stay in, if not someone else gets a go......

brandonbee48
Hi all, From the USA best wishes. My wish for today. A grippy track. No "follow my leader" No crashes. A better performance from Janusz and Rune and a meeting dedicated to Leigh Adams who we all wish well. Alan.
manchesterpaul
Lol....thought it would impress you.Pity you couldn't take a bit more time to add anything more seeing as you were the one going on about "very little discussion" Hmmmmmm? if was anybody other than yourself Iris i'd presume your reply was meant in the same jocular way as my 'WOW!' reply was. However, going on repeated patterns of past behaviour i might as well be advised to issue my standard statement for such sad behaviour occasions. Please take note i'm not getting engaged in 'off-topic attacking the poster and not the post' conversations. There is way too much of it across the forums. It's a very inconsiderate waste of the forum owner's bandwidth - which is NOT free - to use the forums for creating and carrying out personal vendetta's and off-topic feuding when it's purpose of being a forum is for speedway discussion. manchesterpaul
WOW! I feared the worse a little after Laguta and other unexpected wins but fantastic racing just now. It also arrived earlier than some recent meetings. Edited June 11, 2011 by manchesterpaul
