alan_boon
Very interesting. A legal case because they don't like the rules as declared by the democratic governing body. Personally I don't believe a lawyer would ever touch that one with a barge pole. It is my opinion that Sandhu has gone cap in hand to the BSPA to try get him out of this hole without losing too much face with Covs fans. But lawyers did touch it. And as much as lawyers love money, they also trade on their reputation and don't really like taking on cases they don't think they can win. And as much as lawyers love money, they also trade on their reputation and don't really like taking on cases they don't think they can win. Did they look at it or act on it? They may have considered how far they would get with it. Every sport has governing bodies that make rule changes for the good of the sport. What is the point in appointing a governing body and then trying to contest the decisions through the courts. The sport may as well just give up if it has that ball and chain round its neck. Bomo1
In Any dispute between various parties, particularly at the early stage of legal intervention, the parties will always be advised to try mediation first. The latest official statements indicate a 'softening' of approach - presumably by both sides - prior to an EGM in the first week of January. Everything else at the moment is pure conjecture!! Incidentally, on the Sky Sports Speedway page (updated 22.12.10 - after the BSPA statement) summarising the 2010 season, it states that neither Coventry nor Peterborough will be competing in EL in 2011. So why is it then that the BSPA came to see Sandhu & not the other way round.?The answer is simple, their lawyers ordered them too. Why?, simple again, their lawyers don't want a court case. It would appear that bits of information has leaked but not in enough detail for anyone to make concrete statements.
Pirates Of Poole
The main issue and next block both Pet and Cov need to get over is being voted in by the other 8 clubs even Frost has said that.

This is a major issue. Once you have made a threat you will always be treated with a certain amount of trepidation. Both Sandhu and Frost(or their representatives) will be looked upon with a certain amount of mistrust after this episode. Pirates Of Poole
Yes this is where they need to tread carefully. They need the other 8 teams to make a league to ride against.

Coventry asked the BSPA for mediation. they knew if they didn't ask there would be no speedway at Brandon in 2011. It was the only chance they had. As far as the BSPA were concerned Coventry were not in the league of 2011. To quote: OFFICIAL STATEMENT - FRIDAY DECEMBER 10 Friday 10 December 2010 WE had hoped to bring news to Bees & Panthers fans on the current situation regarding the respective clubs dispute with the BSPA; however we have encountered delays. We have engaged a specialist competition law barrister to represent us as, in our view, we have been given no option by the BSPA but to do so. Efforts to seek resolution remain ongoing and mediation has been offered to the BSPA to which we await a response from the BSPA legal team. Thank you to all our fans for their ongoing support. Very true. One club in particular isn't keen to want them back and is not in the mood for any compromise. This is a major issue. Once you have made a threat you will always be treated with a certain amount of trepidation. Both Sandhu and Frost(or their representatives) will be looked upon with a certain amount of mistrust after this episode. They have lost trust, respect and will be viewed on as pariahs until the promotion changes. Who would vote for, or with, a club who has tried to close down their business through leagl threats to get their own way? Answer? No one with any sense. Wendy
The main issue and next block both Pet and Cov need to get over is being voted in by the other 8 clubs even Frost has said that. If Coventry & Peterborough do get back in, and I for one don't believe the spin coming out from Brandon that this is a bolt on, then that would require compromise on the constitutionally approved rule changes. Which in turn would surely require approval from all the teams not just the EL. Now, as the new conversion factor suits the PL - if you don't believe me, just look at the riders coming in like Wright, Gjedde, Risager etc - but it doesn't suit Coventry, and is one of the rule changes that Coventry want reversed, how likely do you think that the PL will be happy to see support Coventry's return? I think this still has a long way to go.

I have just proved in my previous post you know nothing. It's even on your clubs website, so no, no person with any sense would believe your word. You are sprouting rubbish as per usual. Pirates Of Poole
Bottom line is if only 4 clubs vote them in then they won't be in.
Pirates Of Poole
Plus the more any legal dispute goes on and effects all 3 leagues they will be making life more difficult.
Steve Shovlar
Bottom line is if only 4 clubs vote them in then they won't be in. And one of them are far from keen. Personally I hope this is all resolved, Coventy accept the rules and we can get on with everything. We will always have people on here like Colin Cooke, who even after being proved wrong won't accept it, even if it is in black and white on their own site.
