Leszno Gp 30th April 2011

Recommended Posts

No news on the "wild card" yet, although Unia Leszno have nominated Damian Balinski, but it seems the track reserve positions will go to Maciej Janowski (Wroclaw) and Patryk Dudek (Zielona Gora) after they were nominated by Poland's national coach Marek Cieslak.

Balinski is the wildcard.

I thought the Poles would not be having any wildcards this year due to the number of Poles already in the series? Plus you'd think as they have to ride on them dangerous silencers, none of them would want to ride anyway :D

I thought the Poles would not be having any wildcards this year ...

Why would you think that? I understood the FIM and BSI/IMG wanted to increase the competitiveness of the "wild cards" and the best performing "wild card" of last season was a Pole. As I understand it, the hosts of a GP get to nominate a rider and this is then subject to the approval of the FIM. In past seasons such approval was more or less a given, but it seems more scrutiny will apply henceforward. I'd be a bit more concerned about the abject performances of British "wild cards" over recent seasons, if I were you.

Green Mountains, here we come.

Hej hej Falubaz !!

Rico

Whether you'll get into the stadium could be another matter, as it appears a dispute between Falubaz president Robert Dowhan and the municipal authorities in Zielona Gora could see the crowd limited to 999 people:

It seems Mr Dowhan is resistant to writing out a "silly statement" in order to get permission for a "mass event" from the city. It appears that Zielona Gora's first home meeting this season went ahead sans the necessary permission and "theorectically" the club wants to be "in order" for subsequent meetings. It just seems they want it to granted without having to go through the formalities.

Meanwhile, it looks as if the Leszno GP will see talks between officials from Bydgoszcz and BSI Speedway regarding future co-operation between the two parties. Bydgoszcz, of course, lost its treasured place in the GP calendar to Gorzow for this season and BSI's deals with Gorzow, Leszno and Torun would seem to count against a GP in 2012, but a SWC meeting could be on the cards:

And now according to sportowefakty the Leszno GP is under threat from legal action

Whatever! I'll be just up the road in Poznan if they decide to let it go ahead. I'm past worrying about speedway and I'll enjoy the long weekend regardless.

BUT for Darcy Ward's recent injury he certainly would have been a candidate for the wild card in Leszno. As long as he remains fit and in form would be very surprised if the double World Under 21 champion doesn't get the nod in Torun.

Cripes. It would appear that Gollob, Hampel and Kolodziej are getting themselves into quite a hole, if I read it right.

No great shock there, I don't think.

There was always going to be another protest by the Poles before the SGP season got under way....As long as there is some sunshine and beer, I'll make do whatever happens. Actually, I don't suppose it really needs the sunshine either :D

What's more, there's a new fantastic pierogi restaurant in Poznań! :P

Besides, they will ride - either on the new silencers, on the old ones or without them!

Ślak is an idiot! It's all my comment for this situation!

BTW - he's pointed some GKSŻ statements but there is no single word there about prohibition for new silencers in all meetings hold in Poland! There is only obligation to use old silencers in all national meetings!

Easy case even for beginning lawyer ... not for Ślak - as we see :P

I wouldn't necessarily disagree, but what does it say about the riders he is representing? Gollob, Hampel and Kolodziej have to be prepared to see this through all the way, even if it means withdrawing from the GP series.

Nope, Gollob will back down - he won't go through with it.

All the best

Rob
