Its certaintly going to a very busy February & March !!!

I also cannot see many NL teams starting before Easter, but hopefully the weather may be better by then.

Not many riders have had chance to practice over the last 3 months and so will be rusty.

I don't know what all the panic is. Surely most teams know within a rider or two their likely line up? In fact I know of one team who has all seven riders sorted for next season.

Interesting as the points limit has not been set, the points money has not been set (chance it may be fixed) age restrictions on riders not agreed, rules about non British riders has not been agreed.

Agree that clubs have spoken to riders but I would be very surprised if a promotion had sorted their whole team unless they are planning on going well under the current points limit, are paying minimum points money and have 7 Brits all under 25 because thats probably what you would need to be sure to meet the rules if you set your team now.

10 out of 10 to any promotion who have managed to do that

I believe the Heathens have a team in mind, but it can't be finalised until the rules are rubber stamped.

Seems to me the AGM has been delayed to give time to get he Coventry/Peterborough fiasco has been sorted out and the NL is going to be the one suffer.

Would you rather they didn't sort it out, go to court and potentially there is no speedway in this country until the courts sort it out for them? That could easily take years. We all wish the row hadn't happened but it has and it needs to be reconciled as a matter of priority over all else. That's just my opinion of course.

Just tell me the benefit's of allowing British Passport holders to ride in the third tier - UNLESS they sign a declaration that they will ride for England / GB in the future - otherwise there is zero benefit towards providing the next English world champion.

The main advantage would be that it would be illegal to stop a British Passport holder from riding.

Surprised that hadn't occurred to you Kev

Malcolm Vasey

It actually had Malcolm ( hence why I said legalities in opening ). Somebody could put me right here on a technicality it is not stopping a rider from riding Speedway e.g they are still eligible to ride PL / EL, not being a legal beagle is it beyond any constitution to stipulate a sinature of intent pledging future to Team GB prior to eligibility? - maybe e.g. we could have another name change and call it the future Team GB riders Development League OR heaven forbid promoters could have an unwritten agreement not to include such a person ( before anybody says it can't happen have a look at the petrol prices when you have a Tesco and Sainsbury without an Asda or good independant in same area amazingly they have exactly the same pricing - obviously pure coincidence ).

I think whats most important is that the young british lads whos careers start out in the league are given the most competitive, supportive, progressive environment that they can race in.

For me the NL has made great progress irrespective of peoples viewpoints regarding, commonwealth riders/british passport holders/old hands(experienced riders) etc etc

If you look at the likes of garrity, the worrals, perry, birks, morris et al that developed vastly last year.

For me the quality of riders coming through has been the best its been for a number of years (due to the fact that for me it was the most entertaining & competitive its ever been.)

Whats most important is that continues.

Whatever the decisions next year, its what is in the best interests of those riders that is important not fans viewpoints regarding these issues.

I will continue to support the NL whatever rules are put in place & take an interest in it even if the hornets do not run next year.

With Belle Vue showing an interest in fielding a team in the National League. on the B,S,P,A, Site,,It also suggests the A,G,M.may be sometime this month ,,maybe they know something we dont ?Hope they do join and that the A.G.M. is as soon as possible....

Interestingly good news about the possibility of Belle Vue Colts. However, they do admit that they can't do anything yet...until this much-delayed AGM...Grrr.

"Grrr" sums it up very well. Very frustrating now; if a date could be confirmed and stuck to, at least an end to this would be in sight. If it is to be assumed that speedway is continuing in 2011, and Coventry and Peterborough are unable to agree with the BSPA and/or vice versa, the NL rules can still be set and teams declared outside of this situation, to allow all involved, i.e. all the riders waiting to hear if they have a place (possibly with engines to get serviced etc, which if they may not be getting a place, could not afford to do etc), all the promotions wanting to sort out a team but not knowing any rules, and any teams wanting to join.

It could still be sorted out in the interim of the Cov/Pboro/BSPA situation.

Very frustrating.

It does now seem clear that Coventry and Peterborough are not going to be allowed to run Elite League speedway, court proceedings permitting of course. Therefore perhaps the NL can get on with setting its rules for 2011.

On the plus side it appears as if there is potential for a decent league this year if all prospective clubs do end up riding and hopefully they do. But all of the clubs will now face a lot of work in a fairly short period of time to attract the right team and promote the fixtures.

So, according to the local media, the AGM is now the 25th of January! Maybe we can finally get confirmation of a few things!

Announced through the Dudley Heathens FB page too. Same time as last year so what was all the fuss about? ;)

Because unlike last year they weren't three tracks whose very future depends on being accepted into the division... (and I guess if Peterboro' are now saying they do plan to go NL, make that possibly, four..)

Coventry may want to commit hari-kari but that's no reason for three/four others' to have their existence put under threat...

And do you think the NL would vote against allowing those clubs to join the league, forcing them into closure? The Heathens weren't officially accepted into the league until the end of Jan last season, but realistically we were never going to be left out.

*edit* I should add that we, the Heathens fans, have already been told our new number one won't be revealed until the end of February. A long wait for official news and for the i's to be dotted and t's to be crossed doesn't mean that there aren't things going on behind the scenes.

Did you miss the fuss last year? ;)

Must have done!! :P

Not at all but there are more factors necessary to starting up or restoring a track than just being accepted into a league.. And time to prepare (to get sponsors, not to mention riders(!)) is one of them!

If the AGM finally takes place on Tuesday, some things i would like to see adressed are; a Points limit of 40, ALL new Commonwealth riders parentage or not to be assessed on 5 points, minimum riders average of 2 points, KO Cup to be completed by end of July,League to be decided on overall points, League Shield to be competed for at seasons end by Top four Teams,National Trophy to be decided for by the Teams finishing 5th to 8th.
