ash
To be honest I don't care if i go to Rye and see the Cobra's thumped every week. For me it's all about finding the next Edward Kennett etc.Yes he was an Eastbourne asset but he gained great experience at Rye. we also go a lot out of him when he progressed to the PL side and for me that's the whole point of Len running the Cobra's. Winning the league would be nice but i'll get a much bigger kick out of watching another new talent coming through. I can understand the standalone teams wanting to be ultra competative but for me the biigest concern of recent years have been a distinct lack of natural progression to the Rockets team. I still maintain that if other promoters had the foresight of Len silver British Speedway would be much healthier. Having said all that rather than have a few Free entry meetings I'd prefer a more realistic pricing for the NL as currently it is too expensive for what it is I quite agree, it is good to see the likes of Morley, Owen and Hazelden coming through the Cobras, I would hope Len will keep all 3 from last season. If we are looking to sign another 15 year old I wouldn't look any further than Brandon Freemantle, the current under 15 champion sponsored by Eastbourne, Hagon Shocks and mentored by Kennett (seems familiar) I have seen him ride a 250 at Rye and took only his 2nd ride on a 500 at Rye, perfectly smooth and should be one of the Brits to look for in the future. Turned 15 late last season and rode one match for Newport, scored 4+2, I would imagine alot of teams would be after him, as they were with Owen

Looks the stand out 15 yr old this season, hope he comes to Rye the best place to be for someone with his potential.

Get him in and we do realistically have 5 riders who could make the step up the the Rockets in the near future in Morley (already has), Jacobs, Hazelden and Owen. That said, however as Jacobs is an Ipswich asset he may well be loaned out elsewhere, which would be a shame.
phillipsr
Wouold Tommy Allen qualify to ride in the national league. if Rye could have him as the spearhead with Morley, Owen, Hazleden, Jacobs then i believe they would have avery strong side. IMO Tommy would be very strong at this level and would be a good team leader??
Rockets
I have to say that Tommy would be a great shout at this level. It might help him get back some form and confidence whilst being a old head for what is a vey young but talented team. I have to say with this blend I am almost more excited about the Cobras than the Rockets.

iand
.Im not sure of Tommys average it would have to be under 4 i believe. If he is qualified it may well happen.. Tommy has a 4.42 average from 2009 according to BSPA website, only rode 7 matches so never gained a 2010 average. Only got 16pts from 24 rides according to BSPA website average 2.67 according to my calculations. Would be very suprised to see Tommy drop down to the 3rd level, but then i can remember Brundle riding for Eastbourne at Elite level and then dropping down to this level
Ben91
Presuming the points limit will be 40, the following line up fits and would be very competitive. Tommy Allen 8.84 Marc Owen 6.72 Joe Jacobs 6.43 Danny Halsey 5.34 Ben Morley 4.78 Shane Hazelden 4.2 Brandon Freemantle 3.00 Total: 39.31 I wouldn't be too disappointed with that side at all, could win the league at a canter if the riders all race to their potential. Rockets
Now that is an exciting line up. Is that really young Bens average though?
waco
Now that is an exciting line up. Is that really young Bens average though? Rockets.. Ben had very good average early season, before a series of problems culminating in a broken ankle at Newport which was not diagnosed till after the next meeting when he had to withdraw,..These meetings saw his average nosedive..But after some time out he came back to produce some impressive perfomances in the league. And finished 2nd in an individual event at Scunthorpe to Thomas Jorgensen....[ Premier this season with Scunthorpe) Ben scored 11 points inc 3 wins..Plus 6th place in the National league riders championship with 9 points inc 2 wins..And Len gave him an opportunity to gain some valuable experience in the Young Shield with the Rockets..So dont read to much into the figures.. Rockets
As you know Waco I'm a big fan of Bens. I'm just astonished that is his finishing average. I personally think that if he can cure his rolling start Ben could have a terrific season. He has come so far so quickly. And having seen you in action I know you'll keep his feet on the ground !!!! bolly
Have just seen statement about Hackney Hawks joining NDL. Using Rye and Lakeside for home matches. Does this mean that Cobras will not be running or that 2.5 teams will run from Rye House. Will get a bit heavy on the pocket to attend all home meetings ?? bolly
Just read reports and looked on BSPA site. Under National League Clubs it shows 9 teams ?? Weymouth, Bournemouth and Mildenhall not shown, but Hackney Hawks, Stoke Potters added and Rye House Cobras still listed. BSPA says in statement up to 10 clubs riding. 9 listed (maybe Cobras will be dropped ?) and still rumours of Belle Vue and Peterborough applying to race, With Mildenhall and Sittingbourne still showing interest. Are Kings Lynn still running Stars in NL ? As always, just when thinks things are sorted the BSPA throw it all in the air and change things. Maybe its me age ???? Confused of Hoddesdon. rami
I hope when the fixtures are released that the heathens v hawks meeting is at Arena, not been to purfleet since 1990 and would love to pay a visit this year.
Cockney Rebel
I hope when the fixtures are released that the heathens v hawks meeting is at Arena, not been to purfleet since 1990 and would love to pay a visit this year. And this time when the Hawks whup you not to go crying to the BSPA demanding a rerun coz your best rider was off visiting his sick aunt or something and you weren't allowed a replacement. Older Heathens will remember when Bruce Penhall went missing. Good luck with your fight for a permanent home. Only went to Dudley Wood once back in the nineties. wasn't a great match as Ipswich turned up woefully weak and the Heathen Ommered em. Good crowd though and not a bad stadium as speedway tracks go.
