The second tier of Danish youngsters.Not the ones who are making a name for themselves on the international scene.I wouldn't expect the likes of Liglad,Mikkel B.Jensen or Lasse Bjerre to appear for Team Viking. I know he put in a few good scores for Team Bikab in the Swedish 1st division in 2009 but I heard nothing of him last year. Â Correct me if i'm wrong but didn't Wimbledon once try to sign him in the conference league on a British Licence? Why People were asked to make a guess and i have tried to use my knowledge of previous Team Viking riders to make a guess.....You can't say that the elite of the Danish youngsters have been making appearances for Team Viking.I mean Patrick Tarp i had pretty much forgotten about after he left the Vojens 80cc team.So using my judgment i don't think Mikkel would be riding in the team.In fact when i spoke to him in the summer he was thinking he might not ride next year anywhere.Simon Nielsen was a decent prospect,but didn't really progress much....but at least he has made a few appearances for Danish international teams,so i wouldn't expect him to be the one.So it only really leaves Nicki Barrett who hasn't done anything of note on a 500cc bike and seems to have levelled off......so i doubt very much he would even have ambitions of a career in Britain.Or Michael Palm Toft.....another who hasn't really done much.But then again i said he was very very lucky to win the title.Barrett was also a bit lucky as Jonas Raun was the best rider in the competition the year he won it......just trying to make a considered guess.Can't see why that can upset anyone Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Its easy sometimes to get tunnel vision in team selection so its good to hear the views of those who see these guys race on a regular basis. I can tell you though that Michael Palm Toft is not on my list. he is a good rider but has already told me he has no intentions to ride in the UK. Cheers Yes Saw Kenni last year in the Euro Champs and this year in the YGT.He is definitely a big talent.I was surprised that he didn't win the World Championship.But as my blooming motorbike broke down just before the border i couldn't get there to see how it all panned out.In the semi he looked pretty invincible.I know from talking to an insider at Holsted that they are hoping for big things from Rasmus Jensen next year. SarahLapworth Posted December 20, 2010 Author Report Share Posted December 20, 2010 (edited) Pleased to announce that Mikkel Salamonsen has become the latest rider to add his name to our April 2011 tour  Mikkel is 16 years old and has been highly recommended to us from good sources in Denmark. 2010 was his first season racing 500cc and he put in some good shows towards the end of last year including a very good performance in the Danish Under 21 final. We are looking forward to having him on the team and who knows we could be seeing a star of the future for the first time on these shores. Next year we have arranged for our very own Sam Woods to spend a year in Denmark where he will ride for Grindsted in the Danish 2nd division. We hope this will be the first of many "exchanges" and our thanks go out to Jimmi Trasborg for helping out with this. I would like to take a young British touring team to Denmark or Sweden at some point in the future as it can only help towards are own lads progress This is something i have been saying for years on here in reply to those who say "Foreigners come over here and take team places,but Brits wouldn't be allowed to do the opposite"....My reply was always along the lines of "Why not?".Just the same as i have always been an advocate of Brits entering in 80cc comps.Good to see Cameron Heeps do it.But he is from Australia and can manage it.Why can't one or two Brits do the same?Of course it isn't a sure fire way to success,but imo it is better training than what you will get by just riding in Britain.I hope Sam Woods has a good time and learn from the experience and it might open eyes and opinions in Britain.The door in Denmark at least is certainly open for determined youngsters.Poland is also open,as i know a few German youngsters who have ridden in junior teams there. Â It was always going to be a hard meeting for them being up against top end premier and Elite league riders but they both gave it 100% and enjoyed the experience. I am all for helping British kids in the sport and I am working very hard on sending more of our kids there in the future but its also down to the BSPA to do their bit and encourage the sport at an early age. I have been long in the opinion that we need to start them as young as possible on 50cc and also run an 80cc league.
