justspeedway
I don't really have a preference between EL and PL to be honest as long as the 2011 Stars are competitive, but what really gets up my nose is people who are not open to change, especially when many facts about the possible change are unknown. Totally agree Bagpuss - nail on head!
semion
My feelings exactly. People either support a Club or they dont. Look at Norwich City last season 24,000 plus still went to Carrow Road every other week, despite the fact they dropped down a League. Its called supporting your Club. I can go and watch Speedway anywhere, and I do, but there is only one Team I have a passion for and will follow, whatever League they ride in. Talking sense as ever, Baggy. I may not have attended much this year, but I wan't to get back to attending regularly, or at least semi-regularly, next year. I do think the situation with the leaks/rumours could have been handled better, but then all the speculation at the moment is just that... there is no point deciding anything when you don't even know what is going to happen. And to be frank, I'm not the biggest EL fan, but I'd want to attend a few meetings at KL (if indeed they do go EL) before deciding whether or not to attend regularly. And as I believe I've seen you post, possibly on the Facebook group, it will only be a small difference of £1-2 max (I expect were KL to stay PL the price would probably go up slightly anyway) to the entrance... and there would probably be less meetings over the season anyway. True Lorna, although I do have sympathy with the promotion. I can't see how they are expected to come out with an official statement every time somebody gets their knickers in a twist over a rumour on the Facebook page.....if they did they'd have very little time for anything else! The big difference is with NCFC that many were (and we are) Season ticket holders that had already paid the club up front for matches, so you'd have been a idiot not to go to the matches you'd paid for a few months ahead of the season starting, and many paid up front a long while BEFORE we were relegated. Also it's not a case of not following your club, the thing that I am struggling with is that there are only 7 opposing teams in the EL and there are over 20 visiting teams to CR whatever league you are in, its not a case of not wanting, and for that matter we will always support the STARS, it's the fact of the limited opposing teams that we would find repetative. You have a passion for one team, that's great, but we support two, and that ain't cheap as I am sure any NCFC ST holder can attest to. SO £1 here and £2 there does make a difference, it's not just the costs of entry, it's travel costs too that all have to be taken into consideration. The only thing we can do is wait for the news tomorrow at 12. We will listen to what Buster and Rob have to say of course.
Mimmo
Totally hear where you are coming from Mike but for me people who decide in November that they won't go to watch their team next season should they go EL simply aren't proper King's Lynn fans. And I would imagine that those minimum 60 people who don't come will be replaced by at least that many who haven't been since Lynn went down in 2003, as well as Ippo and P'boro fans who feel the same about their club's demotion / closure (fingers crossed it doesn't come to the latter). I don't really have a preference between EL and PL to be honest as long as the 2011 Stars are competitive, but what really gets up my nose is people who are not open to change, especially when many facts about the possible change are unknown. I of course never said they were King's Lynn FANS, but they are......or were!!!! Like you, many people won't have a preference between EL & PL, but many will as I've already mentioned, me included. I don't think it's a case of being open to about 'change', but that's just my opinion as yours are of you. At the end of the day we can toss our views around until we're all blue in the face, but if we do go Elite, then we'll find the answers out in the Summer, one way or the other. Keep Warm. It has been said that some people will travel to Leicester or Rye House for their weekly, If Kings Lynn Move away from the Premier League. I was saying that Kings Lynn would be my team, no matter what League they were in. I compared with NCFC, simply because the fans didnt give up on them because they were relegated. Ok, a certain % of fans were made up of season ticket holders. However there were also many floating fans who cannot afford to commit to a season ticket, but they still never gave up on he Club, and for example went and watched their Football at Portman Road, for example. I can see your point about seeing the same teams twice a season, but havent we had that with certain Clubs every year in the Premier League, with the Trophy ? Speedway is not a cheap night out for many people Mimmo. Many maybe cant afford a twice weekly expenditure on Speedway. I was under the impression when there was No Premier League racing in a given week, the crowds for The Young Stars improved ? stevehone
people moaned when KL went PL, people moaned when KL were winning big each week, people moaned when KL were losing meetings at home .. never please all the people all the time, that's life

I was under the impression when there was No Premier League racing in a given week, the crowds for The Young Stars improved ? Only once do I remember the crowds looking any better on none Premier League weeks. The plain fact is that people would not support THEIR CLUB in anything other than Premier. This discussion has been covered many times before about people not affording twice a week meetings, and that of course must be true in a great many cases. On the other side of the coin, there were a great many that could afford it too, I would suspect, but wouldn't just because it was third tier racing. Having said that though, if I want to argue against myself, a lot of those folk who refused to come along to 'Young Stars' or Barracudas meetings as we were then, were happy to spend their money going to watch a rival team, i.e. Mildenhall. So it wasn't all about not being able to afford, they just weren't prepared to support THEIR/TEAM sadly.

Bagpuss
My apologies Mike, skimmed that post rather than reading it properly For me it was a choice, both in terms of £'s and time, between following the Stars away or the NL team at home. I've not been to West Row since the Chapmans parted company at the end of 2008. I saw the Young Stars twice and both meetings were enjoyable but history will show that ever since we've had a third tier side people would generally rather follow the EL or PL team instead. No doubt if the NL team were the only side running at the NA then the crowds would be much bigger. Edited November 28, 2010 by Bagpuss
Trees
The 'Young Stars' are a team, but people didn't come to watch them, and they are THEIR TEAM. I'm probably repeating myself but I'm hoping that if we do go up to the EL that we will also have the NL team to support when we don't have an EL meeting. The only reason I didn't support the young stars was because I couldn't jusify 2 meetings in one week. I am also hoping that IF we go up that we will be able to retain a few of our current riders in our EL team. Only once do I remember the crowds looking any better on none Premier League weeks. The plain fact is that people would not support THEIR CLUB in anything other than Premier. Perhaps you should have included the word "some" before people in this part of your post Mimmo!! Badge
It's looking more and more likely that you are going EL, which is a big blow to us Witches fans who were really looking forward to some friendly rivalry and local derbies in the season ahead. I would like to wish you all, and your team all the best should it be confirmed tomorrow, because I'm sorry folks but you are going to need it!!! With 9 teams in the EL it was boring to say the least, weeks without meetings, teams with riders missing, and the blanket coverage of certain teams on the TV on Monday nights, made you feel like you had been watching those teams versus your team 9 or 10 times a season , so with one less this coming season OMG what fillers you will need Still you will hopefully have your NL team to ride the weeks you have no meetings, and obviously you will have the WTC. Good luck in the year ahead.
