Kenny Smith Memorial Meeting

Recommended Posts

Looking at the race times it must have been very wet. What was Thomas Jorgensen like and how good was Jan Graversen, did he only win because it was so wet or has he found some speed.

Jorgensen was way out of it, certainly struggled at that level. Jan Graversen revelled in the conditions. His pass on Schlien in the final was awesome. A deserved winner.

Jan has been trying ever since he has been at Scunthorpe to set up his engine right. It has been backwards and forwards to Trevor Hedge who tunes the engines for him & he has spent everything he could on trying to find the right set-up. He blew up two engines last weekend at Newcastle whilst guesting for Birmingham & thanks to Trevor he has managed to have Jans "Scunny Motor" ready for tonight... He's been waiting for this all season.

He was fast tonight and he raced for his place on the podium passing Rory Schlein purely because he was faster, not because Rory made a mistake or that he was on a "dodgy" bike!

He really deserves this win! Thanks to everyone that his supported him and stuck by him, in particular some of his fans from Redcar who have seen him ride tonight and were as proud of him as I am!

Oh and two fingers up really to all the people who have stood and slagged him off in recent weeks at Scunny & as I said in a stand full of people tonight, he was the only Scorpion in the final & there was still people that wouldn't have cheered for him to win! You can't win em all I guess though!

Now onto that bottle of champers ;)

Congratulations to Jan. Bet not many saw that result coming.

It's been obvious that Jan has ben trying his rocks off since he got to Scunny, but that his pace has just been s-l-o-w.

I wasn't there tonight (babysitting again) so cannot comment on track conditions and how they effected the result, but hope this massive confidence boost sees Jan score a hat full of points against Worky over the next few days :D

Andersen crashed his van apprantley and damaged alot of his equipment. Nicholls is ok just threw a huff and went home after his 2nd ride cause it was wet. Jan Graversen certainly didnt seem to mind.

my young one went to see Scottie, when he bailed out on HT2 and stomped off i thought thats the last we will see of him, not very sporting really, anyway everyone has their own choice.

Considering the weather and conditions a Good meeting was put on, Rory was worth the entry alone, seen him loads on TV and he is as good in real time.

Well done to JG keep it in house :-)

Well done Jan-nobody predicted that one! Not an easy track but still some excellent racing all the same. Nice to have another Scunthorpe rider win the trophy-well deserved against some strong competition. Best way to put yourself in the window for next season, same again in the Young Shield please.

Jan's partner was well pleased sprinting from the second stand to the pits-just a blonde blur going by, bit like Jan on the night really

Not a spectacle, by any means, but still a good meeting with a deserved winner. Certainly, nobody saw that coming as Rory was simply class. Disappointed with Scotty's attitude as he was, supposedly, the star of the show(baring our great man up there looking down on us).

You can't win em all I guess though!" - - - i wonder if this group are the ones that first slated B. Becker then S.Lambert. We are not all like this as some can understand how difficult it is to set a bike up. Even the best riders in the world, at the GP's, after a days practice get it wrong. It was noticable, to me anyway, that Jan has got it spot on as his racing lines and speed was evident in his last meeting at the EWR against Somerset in the Shield.

I echo what others have said here. Well done Jan & many thanks to all the riders & track staff. Not one bit of grading was carried out but you still had to rake the track once wet through.
