Parsloes 1928 nearly
Had the pleasure of seeing the Italy touring side (first from that country I believe - indeed has there been another..? ) whiuch came over to ride against some NL (2nd. division) sides in early 1980. Match I saw was at Canterbury; the one scheduled for Crayford later same week fell foul of the dodgy April weather even back then! The one to seven for Italy at Kingsmead was: Octavio Nano; Mario Andrioto; Francesco Biginato; Gianni Famari; Mauro Ferraccioll; Fausto Birbini; and Pier Mario Zanin, Can anyone remember if there was a number 8 to this squad? I think there was and that he appeared in a second half race at Canterbury (and possibly in the team at other matches that tour..) - his name would be gratefully received!! BL65
The other Italian on that 1980 tour was Ottaviano Righetto. During the 1981 tour, I saw the match between Wolverhampton and Italy on 12th April, when the Italy 1 to 7 was Francesco Biginato, Mauro Ferraccioli, Lorenzo Franchetti, Paolo Castagna, Ottaviano Righetto, Armando Dal Chiele and Roberto Incao, with Giorgio Zaramella (No.8) taking part in the second half races. Hope that helps, Keith.

Octavio Nano should be Ottaviano Righetto (ex Eastbourne) The other Italian on the tour was called Battaglia. He didn't ride in any of the matches though. Don't suppose you've a first name for that no.8, Signore Battaglia?
