Preview Swedish 2011 season

Squads, transfers, rumours rule changes for the Swedish 2011 season

so here we are, another season is almost to an end, (Allsvenskan finals are remaining)

general info and rule changes will appear in this post.

rule changes and info for next season:

  • only 15 heats (the old heat 15 is removed).
  • new average system with heat averages instead of meeting averages. Averages are calculated by dividing points with heats.
  • average cap will be 10.500
  • average floor for Elitserien is 8,750
  • squad sized decreased to 8 riders
  • lowest possible average is 0.500 (=2.00 with the old system) and those riders (marked in blue) will not take up one of the 8 squad slots.
  • riders will receive series specific based averages. Elitserien average will only be based on that riders Elitserien rides no matter
in what team/series the rider is registered in.
  • new heat schedule
  • no partner teams
  • contracted guest riders. Swedish riders only and maximum three guestriders/team
  • Teams are only allowed to use a maximum of two guest riders per meeting
  • A rider cannot be a guest rider at the team he was registered with the previous season
  • Minimum 2 Swedish riders/lineup in Elitserien. One of those riders have to be a Swedish U21 rider
  • the u21 riders can only be replaced once per meeting.
  • no nr 8 riders
  • no automatic promotion/demotion between Allsvenskan and Elitserien.
  • earlier date for series notification entry. All teams now have to have send in a notification of entry to Svemo at the latest at Nov 1st while
the squad doesn't have to be registered until Nov 30th. The latter is en exception for this season from next rider registration date is also November 1st.
  • www.speedway.nu website will be replaced by a result website managed by Svemo themselves. speedway.nu is managed by webbureau nitroz.
  • playoffs will only contain four teams
  • the team that finishes 9th in Elitserien will be directly demoted to Allsvenskan. Teams 5-8 will meet in a run-off to decide which team that will follow the 9th to Allsvenskan.
  • The winner of Allsvenskan will be promoted to Elitserien.
  • A return to the system used a few seasons ago with no back to back meetings in the series.
  • Maximum 8 teams in Allsvenskan
  • Allsvenskan average cap is 11,250
  • Some sort of promotion playoff for Allsvenskan
  • Minimum 3 Swedish licensed riders in Allsvenskan lineups(?). one of them has to be a Swedish U21 rider.
  • A team with debts to riders at December 31st each year will NOT be allowed to register new riders.
  • Canal+ signed a new TV deal worth 9 million Swedish Kronor (approx. £850'000GBP).
  • a transfer window before the season starts.
  • a joint website for Allsvenskan: http://www.speedwayallsvenskan.se

Rules for R/R:

averages can be found here; http://www.svemo.se/.../Aktuellasnitt/

but in Sweden any rider can be used for R/R no matter their average. the entire ruke can be found here:

http://svemo.mediapaper.nu/rundbana/ enter page 32 and press enter. see rule 5.10.4

5.10.4 "Rider Replacement

Ersättare för frånvarande förare i dennes schemalagda heat är tillåtet enligt nedanstående

förutsättningar, se även SR 5.21.13 samt tilläggsregler."

Replacement for missing rider in his/hers scheduled heats are allowed according to the conditions below,

also see rule 5.21.13 as well as the amendment rules.

Rider Replacement får utnyttjas för en förare per lag och tävlingstillfälle. Den ersatte

föraren skall tillhöra lagets bästa förare och respektive series tilläggsregler, TR bestämmer

inför varje säsong antalet förare som kan ersättas.

R/R can be used for one rider/meeting. The replaced rider have to belong to the best riders in the team (= the two riders with highest rolling averages)

and each series amendment rules decides before each season the amount of riders that can be replaced.

regarding rule 5.21.13 its quite interesting that they refer to a rule which does not exist in the rule book.

the last of the 5.21.* rules are 5.21.12 and the next rule after that is 6.1  good work Svemo!

10.1.14 Rider Replacement

"Rider Replacement är tillåtet, enligt SR 5.10.4.

Rider Replacment får utnyttjas för en av lagets två bästa förare, med bästa förare avses de

två förare som i laguppställningen på laganmälningsdagen uppnått det högsta snittet enligt

aktuell lista för heatsnitt."

R/R may be used for one the two best riders in the team. The two best riders means the two riders in the lineup that on the day of registration of

the lineup have reached the highest rolling average according to the official list of averages.

added some info about new rules.

More indo about the new rules will be known next week when the speedway section of

Svemo have a meeting to decide the final details of the new rules.

Some teams like Elit Vetlanda and Dackarna probably have to let some riders go.

a couple of Confirmed riders:

Daniel Gunnestad have signed for two more years with Smederna.

Patryk Dudek is confirmed for two years with Örnarna, and Timo Lahti is confirmed for two more years with Rospiggarna.

Karpov signed a two year deal with Hammarby recently however its is only valid if Hammarby is in Elitserien.

Benjamin Barkers contract with Rospiggarna is also not valid any longer since Rospiggarna dropped down to Allsvenskan.

it seems that there will be even more rule changes for next season.

A demotion series between teams 5-8 to decide what team that will be demoted to Allsvenskan after the season.

The Play off will go back to contain 4 teams with two semi finals and a final.

Rune Holta stays with Dackarna which probably means that there are no room for Hans and PK at Dackarna.

AJ, Freddie and Holta will get 6,433 together which means the remaing 4 riders only can have a total 4,067.

Yes, both Hans and PK looks unlikely to remain at Dackarna. The only way they'll both fit in is to release Ludvig Lindgren and use Joel Larsson as the Swedish junior instead and sign a 0,724 (max) reserve alongside Joel, perhaps Ben Barker.

Signing Hans and keeping the younger Lindgren would leave Dackarna with a 1,115 rider at second string, with Leon Madsen fitting, just looking at the average.

Signing PK and releasing Hans would be the most surprising move, and leaving them way under the 10,500 maximum average, so that looks highly unlikely.

Time will tell.

rule changes for next season:

  • only 15 heats new average system with heat averages instead of meeting averages. Averages are calculated by dividing points with heats.

Why??? what is the benefit of referring to averages on a heat basis? In my eyes it only dilutes comprehension of the scale of differences between riders. Hell why not further divide the heat average by a factor of ten to close up the differences even more. Pretty soon most riders will have the same average to the 'nth decimal place ;)

On a more concerning note, are all tracks secure? Will there be any missing next year and is there any possibility of last minute closures? Every time i've seen swedish speedway the crowds have looked heart warmingly fine but apparently that hasn't prevented finacial difficulties for some.

i dont know the reason for the new average system.

about the second question. no as for now no tracks are endangered and there is actually a new track being built even though the 500cc track probably wont be finished until the 2012 season.

Regarding the teams obviously teams like Valsarna, Solkatterna and Griparna are far from 100% safe and in a slightly longer perspective i think Lejonen and Piraterna

have some serious work ahead of them to get things going in the right direction. Neither Solkatterna or Griparna have been granted the required license but from what i understand

(wtothout knowing exactly) Griparna have manage to lower their debts.

Spectator wise the attendances has decreased but that is the case for all major team sports in Sweden. All teams except Valsarna and Rospigagrna had an average of atleast 2100 attenders/meeting.

The attendance average for all 9 teams combined are about 2600 attenders/meeting.

Honestly i think Valsarna will have the same problems next season as this season since they hardly will be able to sign any better rider then they had and without any better riders the spectators will stay at home.

Why???

Because they are idiots?

what is the benefit of referring to averages on a heat basis?

I guess it would be easier to explain instead of a heat average multiplicated with 4, so in reality.....none.

In my eyes it only dilutes comprehension of the scale of differences between riders.

Exactly! Thank you!

This doesn't do anything to make things better. It's just stupid! God, I'm furious!
