drew2
a great nights racing , with lots of talking points but hey that's what sport is all about , well done Tomasz champ at last , and hopefully Bomber has secured his spot for next year Well Done to Tomasz Gollob on becoming World Champion at last. Can't believe SKY were saying it was undecided as Gollob would never record 5 0's around Bydgoscz. Now he has won what are the commentators going to go on about now? Did I hear it right and the track announcer gave the result of ht 22 a good 2 minutes before SKY diclosed it? I may have to listen back to that but I am sure I heard 'Chris Harris 2 points, Jaroslaw Hampel 1 point' in the background. Awesome performance by Bomber and just about secured what he said he was worthy of, a top 8 spot. Why is it every time Bomber gets on the rostrum Hancock is always there as well? Is he stalking him or what? Congratulations to Crumpie as well as he is far from fully fit with his left arm being almost useless so I have been told from a reliable source. Hope the op after the final round goes well and we see a 100% fit Crumpie back battling for the top spot in 2011. SKY didn't seem to mention that Jason has now finished in the top three in the world every year since 2001, 10 consectutive campaigns, some acheivment JC. Onto some of the worst now with Grodzki somehow still being allowed to take control of any speedway meeting let alone a GP. Must be the worst ref ever or he just continually forgets his opticians appointments! The worst rider ever to grace a GP award must go to Crapanese. Has he finished ht 20 yet? Would still have been half a lap behind the rest at a smaller venue like Cardiff.
andout
How many years running has he been top three in the world? He has just equalled Fundin's record of 10 straight years in the first three.....did not think anyone would ever do that after Ove.
ladyluck
The meeting presenter did, but maybe he "jumped the gun"? Certainly the result wasn't posted on screen until much later. Certainly Gollob's pit crew and the man himself didn't celebrate until it was officially posted. ladyluck
Glad your not seriously comparing Go-Lob with Ove Fundin. Plenty of riders have 'fluked' one. Any comparison being made was not between Gollob and Fundin, but between Crump and Fundin. I don't think many riders have "fluked" three and "fluked" being on the podium ten seasons running. However, the intimation that Gollob has "fluked" this world title is a disgrace. Has he "fluked" twenty GP wins? Has he "fluked" all his previous podium positions in the world championship. I'd think of Hancock, Hamill and Loram before thinking about Gollob in the "fluke" stakes. Edited September 25, 2010 by ladyluck
mr_smudge57
Everybody can express their opinion. So its alright for Gollob fans sitting nr to us at Cardiff giving out abuse all night to Jason Fans, even wanting the said rider to get hurt! Have i said that about Gollob NO!!!! you have every right to your own opinion, that is what forums are for...
DizzAssStar
Glad your not seriously comparing Go-Lob with Ove Fundin. Plenty of riders have 'fluked' one. What a bitter & twisted remark............... so Tomasz "fluked it" over 10 rounds? ......... Nah don't think so!
raymond2870
Many congrats Tomasz on your long battle to get the title. well deserved. It was good to see bomber have a good night and hopefully continue to move up the leader board even further at Bydgoszcz, and some things dont change Nicki Pedersen handing it out and throwing his arms up when he got a bit back, but hey its the big time. tomcat
Congratulations to Tomasz.... 2010 Speedway World Champion. Its good to see the majority of folks giving credit to the man on here, just a shame that some have to sour this thread. Ove Fundin, great rider, but different era, opposition etc, etc, but there ya go, par for the course on here these days. Thoroughly enjoyed the meeting tonight, just a shame that the ref had yet another stinker. How long does he think those engines can be held at full revs, before they go bang?? Just one of many poor decisions tonight. About time the FIM grew a pair and got rid of the worst referee ever to take charge of any FIM meetings. Well Done to Bomber too, credit where credit is due. He has proven a lot of us wrong this year and could actually end up higher than his current 7th place. Looking forward to the last round now, what a night that is going to be in Poland.... probably the biggest party seen in speedway. Special mention for Crumpy, who relinquished his title like a true gent. No histrionics or excuses, well done that man and hope the operation on the arm is a success over the winter. And finally.... heard a rumour that King Kenneth is sacking his pit crew and back up crew... as they appeared to take his EL bikes to the GP tonight, instead of his proper GP bikes, well he certainly scored like he did in the PlayOff Semi last Monday...... Brummie Kev
The worst rider ever to grace a GP award must go to Crapanese. Has he finished ht 20 yet? Would still have been half a lap behind the rest at a smaller venue like Cardiff. He would get the worst Ever Birmingham Rider award too Im sure . Seriously what is the point of giving him a wildcard year after year, its the same every year.

Dave Jones
Well done to Gollob fully deserved. Thought the ref was a joke though. hampel looked like he had Harris in the semi final. The front on shot showd it. Wouldn't have altered anything in the scheme of things but unfair on Hampel. Also the farcical decision to exclude Hans when Holta rode into the back of his was a complete joke! Again well done to Gollob. Definately the best rider in 2010. Will be party time in Poland for the last GP. Isn't it a shame that a british speedway supporter can't find a " well done " for his countries top rider after a sterling performance in Italy tonight? czechhero
So TG joins the great Jerzy Szczakiel in the annals of speedway history!! Seriously, well done Tomasz, fully deserved. And congrats to Bomber too on a great effort tonight.
tigerowl
Just about the perfect Grand Prix for me tonight. Tomasz secures a totally well deserved and overdue World Championship and Chris Harris puts some pride into British Speedway with a breathtaking effort, alomost securing a top eight spot for next year. A fantastic night for speedway in general and British speedway as well.

tricky dicky
Delighted to see Gollob crowned World Champ. To be honest I never thought he would make it under the GP format, but he has been irresistible this year. Crump deserves a lot of credit for the way he has carried himself this year, nice touch with the race jacket. Top 8 look done and dusted as well, with Holder in 8th a fairly impregnable 11 points clear of the next. Pedersen won at Bydgoszcz last year and its AJ's home track in poland so its nowhere near done and dusted just yet !!
BigFatDave
Top 8 look done and dusted as well, with Holder in 8th a fairly impregnable 11 points clear of the next. Even if he has a 'mare in Polska Holder should be in next year as a GP winner in his first season. Disappointing night for all Aussies tonight, but ho-hum, better luck in a fortnight. Its been a great GP Season so far; the only gripe I have is the track taking so long to come good. Once again the track took a while to settle down as has happened in most GPs this year, which can seriously disadvantage riders on 'bad' gates. Might be an idea for going back to the pre-2007 format with a series of preliminary heats, or even getting some local lads to 'kick the dew' off the track prior to the meeting proper. Well Done Tomasz; congratulations on a hard-fought, hard-earned win and championship. PS Bit disappointed with the Start Tarts tonight; must have scraped the barrel at the local dogs' home - in a pinch I'd give it to White.
