The best man won.

Let's hope he's in the GPs next year - either that or he comes to ride for Swindon!

Only way he will get in is thru injury ... Freddie will not finish in the top 8

Ok slight anti-climax in that Krzysztof Kasprzak got 'owned' in the run-off. However, probably a fair result as he got beat by Janusz Kołodziej in the heats as well. But what a very entertaining start to the evening, as i toddle off for a good night out praising the Lord for our great sport and the beauty of the internet allowing us to all share in a meeting in a far off land etc lol well chuffed.

It's not called the "world-wide web" for nothing. I am a total tech-ignoramus but i thank the guys who make this possible. Thanks to the streamers and all the best from a sunny afternoon in the USA. Alan

If Harris finishes in the top 8 then Kolodziej can have his wildcard.

That's a pretty big "if" though!

If Harris doesn't make the top eight but is nominated on the "strength" of his British championship win then surely the same criteria (that is to say, national champion) should apply in Kolodziej's case. The Polish championship is certainly a stronger meeting and a lot harder to win that the British championship.

In addition, with Kolodziej set to be nominated as "wild card" for Bydgoszcz, maybe once the world title is all wrapped up young Gollob will help Kolodziej to a GP win. There are few better "team riders" than Gollob, especially around his beloved Polonia circuit.

Polish friends attention!

I dont have the knowledge going back that far, but what was the situation going back some years showing (apparently) TG wiping out PP and giving him the title trough a runoff?

The memorable final at Bydgoszcz in 1999. TG & PP were racing in a race-off for the title (as both scored 14 pts) and apparently TG hit PP who fell down. The ref excluded TG and PP became the Polish Champion. The situation was very controversial and the whole thing was even more spiced by the fact that both riders were riding for the same team then - Polonia Bydgoszcz.

Is Kolodziej likely to get a wildcard entry into the Bydgoszcz GP after becoming Polish champion today?

I would be amazed if he hadn't already been nailed in, and after today the Polish authorities will want to give him a showcase to persuade the GP people to give him one of the four picks, along with Emil for next year. If the GPs are to showcase the world's best, this modest unassuming little guy HAS to be in. Regards. Alan

Still tight for 8th place in the GP's but I think the wildcards will come from ..

Chris Harris (British Champion)

Hans Andersen

Andreas Jonsson (Swedish Champion)

Nicki Pedersen (never needed one before)

Emil Sayfutdinof

Tai Woffinden

Cannot see the Pole getting a sniff to be honest ... I think his insistance that the top 3 have there engines stripped after the GP Challenge sucked of sour grapes and went down badly.

Cheers. Will we see Protasiewicz riding in 2011?

Already been announced, with Przemyslaw Pawlicki and Artur Mroczka taking the reserve positions.

Thanks for letting us know ladyluck. On current form Kolodziej would have finished on the rostrum in Bydgoszcz imo.

Nicki Pedersen has, I believe, been nominated before. I think he was a nominated rider in the season he first won the world championship.

So, according to your post, the hopelessly weak British final ranks higher than the much tougher Polish final, since you include Chris Harris on the grounds of being British champion? If Harris does not make the top eight there is NO WAY he should even be considered for a FIFTH nomination. No one has ridden in more GPs without having qualified than Harris. I doubt anyone comes close.

I meant Kolodziej has already been announced as the Bydgoszcz "wild card", with Pawlicki and Mroczka as the track reserves, so we'll find out in three weeks if he made the rostrum.

Look we all know you dont like "Bomber" I don't know if your Polish, just a Polish Speedway fan or have been dumped by a cornishman at sometime in your life, but Chris IS a multi British Champion however weak the field may be. As for Nicki I am not sure he was nominated but as a 3 time World Champion who is merely having a nightmare with machinery/set ups/back up team at the moment.

I would have Nicki,Emil,Andreas & Chris as wildcards .. or even Tai now he has had time to get over his sad loss

It's got nothing to do with liking or disliking Chris Harris. It's to do with the integrity of the GP series and the world championship. It's to do with making British riders as hungry and determined as their continental rivals. It's to do with restoring pride to British speedway.

Look at the sad comparison between Britain and Poland when it comes to nomnations:

BRITAIN

2006 GPs: Nicholls and Richardson (both nominated)

2007 GPs: Nicholls and Harris (both nominated)

2008 GPs: Nicholls (qualified) and Harris (nominated)

2009 GPs: Nicholls and Harris (both nominated)

2010 GPs: Harris and Woffinden (both nominated)

POLAND

2006 GPs: Gollob (qualified), Hampel (qualified) and Protasiewicz (nominated)

2007 GPs: Gollob, Hampel, Holta and Jagus (all qualified)

2008 GPs: Gollob (qualified), Holta (qualified) and Kasprzak (nominated)

2009 GPs: Gollob, Holta, Ulamek and Walasek (all qualified)

2010 GPs: Gollob, Holta and Hampel (all qualified)

Kolodziej is a multi-Polish champion (2005 and 2010), was unlucky in the GP challenge final and made the final in his one GP appearance this season. The Polish authorities are pushing hard for Kolodziej to be nominated and there is an increasing groundswell against the underserved nominations handed out to British riders.

Not at all!! Its within his rights to check the engines, and if he did , good on him, as the authorities do f*** all tests. Your rationale that Harris deserves a charity spot ahead of the Pole is a joke, but Woffinden? after his disaster season is the typical british attitute, BUT even 99% of brits wouldnt be dumb enough to think Woffinden deserves another try just yet. Do you spend you days on the street begging for change with a homeless sign around your neck? You are addicted to charity, and the worst example of the british attitute. When Tai can have an impact for wolverhampton then you can think about a higher level, until then dont be such a fool. He was a waste of methanol this year and wont be back, next year!

I wouldn't wager too much money on that. Woffinden enjoys the powerful patronage of Sky and that could be enough to get him another go. Problem is, of course, it will probably do more harm than good. Did any of Nicholls' nominations do him any good? Have any of Harris' nominations done him any good?
