SWEDISH ELITSERIEN - QF GROUP ROUND 2

Tuesday September 14th 2010

ELIT VETLANDA - LEJONEN 49-47

at Vetlanda Motorstadion

Attendence: 4540

Heat details, courtesy of www.speedway.nu.

Elit Vetlanda (home) 49

1. Janusz Kolodziej 0-3-3-3-2 = 11 (5)

2. Thomas H Jonasson 2-3-2*-2*-1* = 10+3 (5)

3. Jaroslaw Hampel 1-3-2-3-3 = 12 (5)

4. Patrick Hougaard 0-1-0-1* = 2+1 (4)

5. Jason Crump 2-3-2-0-1 = 8 (5)

6. Adrian Gomolski 1*-1*-0-1 = 3+2 (4)

7. Robin Aspegren 2-1-0-0 = 3 (4)

8. Jacob Thorssell

Lejonen (away) 47

1. Leigh Adams 3-2-1*-1-3 = 10+1 (5)

2. Dennis Andersson 1-0-2-R = 3 (4)

3. Nicki Pedersen 2*-0-3-2-0 = 7+1 (5)

4. Mikael Max 3-2-1-0-0 = 6 (5)

5. Chris Holder 0-1-1*-1* = 3+2 (4)

6. Artur Mroczka 0-N-N-2* = 2+1 (2)

7. David Ruud 3-3-0-3-2-3 = 14 (6)

8. Oliver Berntzon

For Elit Vetlanda,

Kolodziej fell while chasing second in his first, but remounted. Was he usual excellent self after that. Jonasson provided the match winning performance by his 10 paid 13 score, and was only beaten by Adams twice. Hampel missed his opening gate, but put on his gating boots after that. Hougaard fought hard for little reward. Crump should score more on his home track, but may be excused considering the win. Gomolski faced stiffer opposition than usual, for sure, but wasn't quite his normal self. Aspegren was involved in quite some racing on the night, he rode well.

For Lejonen,

Adams blew hot and cold but scored a win when needed (heat 16), though it didn't help them winning this time. Andersson did a good job at second string for a 19 year old. Pedersen actually beat Crump twice in a prestige meeting between them, but ended with a paid eight. Max's score says it all as he had an impressive win in his first but was nowhere to be found in the later stages. Holder's gating let him down, and it's hard to pass top opponents such as the heat leaders in Elit Vetlanda on such a fast track. Mroczka took his usual heat to get going. Ruud showed his liking for the Vetlanda track once again, and looked to be their match winner, but it wasn't meant to be.

NEXT ROUND - TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 21ST 2010:

Group A: Västervik - Dackarna

Group B: Lejonen - Indianerna

In the semifinals on September 28th-29th, Piraterna will face the second placed team in Group B while Elit Vetlanda will face the second placed team in Group A.

Dackarna must manage a draw in Västervik to overcome a gigantic upset of elimination, while Lejonen only need a draw at home to advance to the semifinals.

No news on where Canal+ will be next week, at least it's not listed on their website, but they would be foolish not to be in Västervik.

A question for Swedish fans. Heat 15 and 16, can ANY rider be put in heat 15, and then the two remaining highest scorers ride in the last heat?

Or, do the highest scores HAVE to be in heat 16?

two highest scorer goes to heat 16 and then the team manager can nominate two riders of his choice for heat 15.

In case two or more riders end up on the same amount of points the team manager can choose who goes to heat 15 and 16.

Also reserves are allowed in heat 15 but not heat 16. However reserves are only allowed to ride 6 heats which opens up for different tactics.

Either do what Lejonen did y-day and use up all the 6 heats before the nominations or save one heat and use the reserve(s) in the nominations.
