glycerol
22 races for a fiver at Berwick this Saturday! Berwick host the inaugural Northern Junior League Riders' Championship this Saturday (18th) - tapes up 7pm. Every effort is being made to make this celebration of the first NJL season a "proper" meeting. Although admission is reduced to only £5 (and accompanied kids free) for no less than 22 races , the Berwick promotion will be printing a full-size programme, the competitors given all pomp and circumstance in their presentation to the public and stadium food and shop facilities will be in operation. Riders, including reserves, will be afforded every opportunity to enjoy their big night. Each will receive free fuel and oil, a commemorative medal, and (later) a DVD of the whole meeting courtesy of Bob Tasker and GRT Media. All four finalists) will each receive trophies, champagne and a rostrum photo -- the actual winner of the title will also be invited to take a reserve berth for Berwick's prestige event of the year, the Bordernapolis. The draw has been made, and the field will line up as follows: 1 Rachel Hellowell 2 Adam Kenyon 3 Jeff Halford 4 Paul Burnett 5 Jack Hirst 6 Peter Johnson 7 Jamie Swales 8 James Cartmell 9 Phil Learmonth 10 Montana Jowett 11 James McBain 12 Steven Morris 13 John MacPhail 14 Tamas Sike 15 Scott Nettleship 16 Ricky Anderson 17 (1st reserve) TBA 18 (2nd reserve) TBA Let's say that again -- 22 races for a fiver! glycerol
The Latest.... TWENTY-TWO SPEEDWAY RACES FOR A FIVER! Premier League racing takes a back seat this Saturday, with eighteen starlets of the shale contesting the first-ever Northern Junior League Riders’ Championship. John Anderson hopes to attract a sufficiently-large audience to warrant his club’s efforts in presenting the packed programme of twenty-two races. “Only a fiver for adults to come in this week” he emphasised. “Accompanied kids are free, too!” “22 speedway races for a fiver, in just over two hours – can’t offer better value than that, can we?” The line-up of future Bandits (which includes two girl racers!) has been announced in racing order, and will be: 1 Rachel Hellowell 2 Adam Kenyon 3 Jeff Halford 4 Paul Burnett 5 Jack Hirst 6 Peter Johnson 7 Jamie Swales 8 James Cartmell 9 Phil Learmonth 10 Montana Jowett 11 James McBain 12 Steven Morris 13 John McPhail 14 Tommy Sike 15 Scott Nettleship 16 Ricky Anderson 17 (1st reserve) David Holt 18 (2nd reserve) Jimmy Culbert. In addition to the winner getting some handsome silverware, John Anderson has made a special promise that he (or indeed she) will be invited to fill a reserve berth at next month’s Bordernapolis event at Shielfield Park, rubbing shoulders in the pits with an expected line-up of Grand Prix and Elite League star riders! wjm
Superb. One of the many smart moves that have been made since the new promotion came to Berwick has been the encouragement of junior Speedway in the North. There hasn’t been as many Brits coming through in recent years as there should be, but the only way that is going to change will be if they are given encouragement and it is meetings like this that can be the start of a promising career and the chance to win a race jacket. It is also a very fitting reward for the hard work that Ken Marshall and Co put in over the summer, he is always working hard to get kids involved in the sport. Yes we should all remember who was the stand out rider in last years junior meeting, Jade Mudgway
dukes
Anyone who has seen any of the meetings must be impressed. This league has given the opportunity to some old hands to bring along the next generation. Each team has helped the other team one way or another. Yes everyone wants to win, but what this league has done is lay the foundations for something bigger. All credit to Berwick Speedway who have foresight in the future of British Speedway and they will be succesfull. Unfortunately the favourite to win the title will not be able to take part, best wishes to Gary Beaton on a speedy recovery. Hope every rider enjoys the night and a good attendance enjoys spectacular racing. Finally to the brains behind the Northern Junior League, congratulations it has been a success and long may it continue.

Topcat
I think the general idea is to sell his current machinery, then buy Adrians 2010 equipment. I may be wrong!

Bandits4eva
Tomi Sike won and IMO was easily the best rider on show... BUT, I was very impressed with John Macphail since the last time I seen him... John and Tomi were the two riders who went under 70.0... Tomi was in 68 second barrier in the final.. Jack Hirst was another I was impressed with.. All in all though, I must say this was a meeting I enjoyed much more then what I thought I would... No stoppages (until the final heat) and no crashes which was a VERY pleasing thing after the last couple of weeks And we had girl power too.... they certainly gave it a go and should feel very proud of themselves Crowd was also better then what I thought it would be, especially since the temperature dropped big time I would be more than happy to see this meeting again next year... Well Done to everyone who made it happen
