Nordic Grand Prix

It's all getting rather interesting as the GP circus heads to Ole Olsen's Vojens track for the ninth GP of a thoroughly entertaining season. Championship leader Tomasz Gollob extended his lead over second-placed Jaroslaw Hampel, but third-placed Jason Crump took quite a bite out of his deficit to put the Pole under increasing pressure.

Gollob's last visit to Vojens was rather successful, as he put a dubious first race to exclusion to one side, won his next four rides and claimed the SWC for Poland in a last heat decider. He can handle pressure and routinely does so for club and country, yet memories of his collapse in 1999 still linger. Gollob really could do with a good GP to steady the ship. Another "iffy" performance and Crump will smell blood.

Crump himself will be looking for another good showing and will be hoping to take another chunk out of Gollob's lead in the championship race. Hampel, in my opinion, is more or less out of the running now, although a good showing in Vojens would shake things up and place him back in the running.

Down among the also-rans, chasing a place in the top eight, superb showings in Gorican saw Greg Hancock and Chris Harris into the top eight at the expense of Hans Andersen and Andreas Jonsson. After a good start to the GP season Jonsson has endured a nightmare and looks increasingly lost. He desperately needs to turn the corner and he has a reasonable record at Vojens (didn't he win the Vojens GP last season?), but I'm not sure he has the intestinal fortitude. Still, he could get a lucky break.

Harris and Hancock will be looking to consolidate their positions in the top eight and maybe exert pressure on the guys immediately above them (Bjerre and Holder).

Niels-Kristian Iversen is the "wild card".

It should be an interesting night.

Just had a look on the sky website and it states that this meeting will be shown on the red button again. Its a real shame they continue to do this as theres alot off people out there that now will not be able to watch this with work etc that would have recorded this, that will now have to wait for a replay.

Such a shame. Thought i'd share this information ive found :)

Goodonya, Hunn! That should ensure a couple of pages worth of posts whingeing about SKY.

Personally I think all the GPs should be run at 11:00 am GMT so's I don't have to get up in the middle of the night to watch it!

Go OZ!

at least we are told in advance this time about the red button, but its no compensation for those who dont have it available to them.im usually working shifts so have to watch the replay anyway,im not one to shout sky down, at least they show it and repeat it a couple of times so nobody misses out, whether we like it or not its a minority sport and in my oppionion gets a fair coverage from sky.

I'll bet Holta won't let last rounds mediocre performance repeat itself, Crump is eying more than a bronze to hang around his neck, and the two poles in lead will not back down either. Harris, AJ, Holder and all the others fighting it out for top 8 will do their best to keep us entertained, I'm sure. Thank Rod it's close between the riders, and anything could still happen.

Looking forward to this one:)

And please discus the dreadded RED BUTTON in another link or even forum. Let's get the opinions on the actual race here.

They have just taken the US Tennis off to put a football match on with Andorra. Supposed to have carried on on the red button but I cannot find it. Haven't they got enough football on with 3 live matches on as well as soccer update.Don't they realise not everbody wants to watch football?

For Aussies wanting to watch this one Downunder you'd better have FUEL TV on your cable subscription, Channel 516 on AUSTAR, otherwise you can always go to http://www.events.servercorporation.com/ on the web. Darwin time for the show is 0230 hrs.

Here's hoping Crumpy gets a bit closer to Tomasz, while Chris Holder's due to get his mojo back after recharging his batteries on the Costa Del Fortune for a coupla daze!

You have to wonder if SKY are losing interest in this competion. SKY sports 1 are showing rugby league play-offs followed by Big Fight special featuring a Nigerian boxer v a Russian. 2 have US open tennis - fair enough. 3, half hours worth of 40 over cricket then a selection of magazine programmes whilst 4 the third day's play of a golf tournamount in Illinois followed by Spanish league football.

I think Sky are trying to kill off some of the competition while still taking some money from them ... the removal of the Sky Sports News from freeview is a masterstroke as most people just leave it on in the afternoon to keep up to date with the football ... now if you want it you have to have Sky. By doing what they are doing they will be hoping to convert a few Virgins no doubt ... I can see more events being made Sky only in the future.

I'm a Virgin customer but still get SSN. It was only taken off some of the cheaper packages as far as I recall.

Snap, and TBH doesnt bother me really, got the HD channels, just lack the red button, but will just wait for the highlights later on that night, or just check on the results. Simple
