If the PLRC was about having the best 16 riders then the likes of Stoke and Workington would not have a rider representive.

Look at it the way I see it Travis McGowan is now the Glasgow fully fledged representive, and the criteria for the wild cards is based on the riders who are the best 2nd placed riders in the their teams.

You could say that Mark Lemon has a decent call with the rider with the next highest average.

You could say that Josh G at Glasgow has a decent call, as Joe Screen was not the wild card, so would be a straight swap between two Glasgow riders.

You could say that Ricky Ashworth deserves the call, as the PLRC Champion he should be given the call to defend his title.

Or by virtue of been the next best 2nd averaged rider in his team, Jordan Frampton deserves the call.

The criteria for the wild card is the best 2nd place rider in a team, and after Travis McGowan and Rene Bach got those, so for me the rider who should get the call is Jordan Frampton.

I think it should be the next in the glasgow averages so Josh G if it is him. Last year we had our no.3 representing us Andre as Kevin Doolan was injured and Adrian couldn't make it so it went to no.3. Ricky Ashworth should not get the call he wasn't good enough to get there on his average, no other riders in previous years have got there just to defend the title have they ?? So why should this year be diferent. Really unfair and a farce of a meeting if he does.

The difference there was that was Workington's sole representative, Glasgow are already represented by Travis McGowan.

There are some valid points for the four inclusion.

Josh G; Glasgow rider for Glasgow rider.

Mark Lemon; The highest averaged rider not to qualify for the PLRC.

Ricky Ashworth; The present Champion, and chance to defend the title.

Jordan Frampton; The next highest 2nd place rider in there team.

Based on the fact that the Wild cards are chosen on the basis of the 2nd highest riders in the teams then I think it is only right and proper that Jordan Frampton get the call.

The only reason Ashworth would be in the Meeting would be to put numbers on the Gate. If he gets in it would be a travesty of justice. Mark Lemon should get the nod - and - that is from a Redcar 'Bears' Supporter.:angry:

I think Ashworth should had been given on of the two wild cards,as champion, the lad should have the chance to defend it, like any other sport.

What a total and utter load of crap!!!!

So if Manchester United were defending Champions League champions they should automatically be seeded to the final or if Valentino Rossi is current Moto GP champion he should be given a 150 point start so as to be be able to defend his title. Ashworth has not been good enough (over the season) to automatically qualify therefore should not automatically get a pick/sympathy pick. He has to earn the right, like the other 15 in the field.

Your all missing the point. The fact is Ricky has been the best rider over the season it's just silly that the cut off date was 4 weeks ago when he was unluckily pipped in the averages by Josh. To be top of the Sheffield averages apart from 3 weeks of the season seems unfair for him not to qualify.

No,but Man UTD are in the competion to defend it

So by your statement if you want the plrc to be decided on merit, shouldnt it be the best 16 riders in the league, not the best from each club????

Mark Lemon (8.84) narrowly missed out on a wildcard to Rene Bach (8.95) by 0.11 points on averages. To be second of the Newcastle averages apart from a few weeks of the season seems unfair for him not to qualify?

Seeding champions into the Super7's hasn't been done this season, and it would be a joke to suddenly change the qualifying criteria for this one event. Something to look at for next year's set perhaps.

Seeding champions into events hasn't been done for years... An example involving Berwick... 2002 we won the PL 4TT... We couldn't defend it in 2003... We didn't have the averages to qualify... End of!

RUBBISH!! Josh has the higher average, Ricky should have done more to keep his average higher, like at the comets craig Cook was pipped to the no.1 jacket by Rusty by a mere fraction of a point so he loses out, days before the cut off. There are two other riders higher than Ricky in Lemon and Frampton so they hopefully will get the call. Why the hell should he be able to defend his title when its never been done before  (other than when riders riders have got in again cause of their average)

i think its you thats missing the point. if ricky was the best rider he would be there on merit and have a high enough average. he isnt, he wasnt, get over it

the competition is meant to be for the best rider in the league, the qualifying criteria was top your clubs aves so every club could have a rider there plus the two highest averages that missed out. ricky is neither so why the discussion? thats how mcgowan and bach were chosen as wildcards. mcgowan now becomes glasgows best ave rider, wildcard goes to next highest ave that missed out irrespective of club, venue, personal favourite,. its ave dictated NOT club dictated People are oh so quick to moan about speedways rules not being transparent but in one case where they ARE transparent they want them changed for their favourite

Yes I think it should but that would probably reduce the crowd quite a lot. I always thought that the PLRC should be the best 16 riders in the league, irrespective of what club they ride for, provided they have completed a certain number of matches, to stop clubs bringing in ringers.

I have nothing against Ricky but just as he is defending champion does not mean he should automatically get a pick. If he had got injured at the started of the season and declared himself fit in time for this meeting, he would therefore be given a slot, having only eraned it by being defending champion. I think Josh is in the meeting as he has earned it and been the most consistent Sheffield rider, it is unfortunate that Ricky's form dropped off at a key moment.

The next highest in the averages should be in,end of story irrespective of who he rides for, EVERY team has got at least one rider there which is what really matters.

i beleive Josh Grajzonek should be in, as a replacement to Screen as the Glasgow representative, yeh Mcgowan is their but he is their as a wild card, so i feel they should give Grazjonek the place

Or another way to look at it. The best rider in the PL is the one who finishes top of the averages. The one who has done it all season at all tracks and not just a one of meeting. Give him the title and trophy. The rule should also be that you have to have had a minimum of two GSA's to qualify so you can't just have dropped down from the EL and win it on a big converted average.

Just a thought.
