Unless Krasnikov suffers a major disaster, I don't thnk you'd get good odds on him winning the World Championship again! odds on favourite

I reckon if you went into one of the major high street bookies you could maybe get a decet price o Krasnikov or either of the Ivanovs they know less than nothing about speedway so the Ice version would be a totally alien concept.

Also more of a question for Conkers etc why isn't Franky Zorn riding in these meetings he generally seems to struggle on Russian ice and surely the race and practice time would do him the world of good in the World Championship against the Russians.I know it would cost an arm and a leg but couldn't Austrias federation back him.He has got to be up there as there finest motorcycling star i cant think of any others off the top of my head in other disciplines.

Amur is the furthest east of the Russian Regions - the track is nearer the Korean peninsula than Moscow. The riders had to travel there by train which took a few days.

It was held the last two weekends as the riders competing are now on their way back west (!) to Novosibirsk for the training which preceeds the Russian Season. These meetings are in effect out of season.

AFAIK Franky Zorn will travel up to Scandinavia to train, as he does normally. Posa, Stefan S, Bauer and the Klatovskys like to train in Russia, plus Posa is a big hero in Russia and to get him to race was a coup for the organisers, as they expect Krasnikov et al to be there.

I do agree that Franky would benefit from training in Russia, but he prefers Sweden. Plus he'll get plenty of training in as his base in Austria allows him to find plenty of places to train locally, and he normally rides in several open meetings in Germany/Austria prior to his qualifier.

There is no junior European Championship in 2011.

Until the rest of Europe get a Junior Ice Racing programme similar to the Russians, then the UEM were on a hiding to nothing with this one, plus staging it opposite big meetings prevented potential riders like Sven Holstein attending.

BTW Jesper, the Assen site has a new rider's name listed, Gerrit Schukken. What can you tell us about him?

Well from what I just read on the Assen website is that Gerrit is going to take Iceracing quite serious. He's been racing in the past few years on some local meetings in Holland and he has also been practicing in Sweden and Russia. In march 2010 he bought a new iceracing bike in Sweden and he's now busy with the preperations for the training camp in Funasdalen (Sweden) at the start of december.

Sooooo Holland got a new serious racer! :approve:
