Rene Stellingwerf will replace Johnny Tuinstra as wild card in Assen, his partner has announced (on facebook of all places!)

Had a look on the Assen site and it's confirmed - subject to FIM confirmation. Johnny Tuinstra has been advised by his Doctor not to ride.

And whilst we are on the subject of Assen:

PICTURES!

Sunday morning report time...

Quite entertaining test match on a beautiful spring day. Both teams were missing their best rider (Serenius, Koij, Lindström, Svensson, Aakko, Järf) which in a way played for a better meeting. It started with Sweden in front but their chances literally blew up in heat 5 when Robert Hendersons bike packed up from the lead on lap 3. After that Finland ran away with it. The track itself was a bit small and narrow, but it was the same for everyone. Second corner surprised a lot of riders early, as it was really tight entering the back straight.

Last year the fiveone's were 9-1 in Swedens favour, this time it was 3-0 for the Finns.

Should also add Happy Birthday to F-S-P!!!

Thank you very much, this is nice. I'm gonna celebrate the day by opening up a bottle of the Jameson Distillery reserve whiskey thats only available for guests at the Jameson's old distillery in Dublin for 52 euros + flights and accomdation. And naturally available to everyone visiting the online shop at jamesonwhiskey.com... :D And the same thing happened with Tullamore Dew (though thats still sealed even further back in the cabinet), only it was available from the local irish pub here in Tampere. In the A Final, Kononov and Krasnikov were level going to the line, and both were bashing elbows, both wobbled, Kononov held on and took the win, but Krasnikov fell and slid up the track after the flag. He was like a petulant child after that, didn't stay on the rostrum, refused interviews and was very bitter!

Interesting to see Krasnikov not having it all his own way for once.

I miss not being out there this year (including my session putting the speedway world to rights with Conkers in the hotel bar on Friday night  ), but I do plan to return in 2012.

All the best

Rob

I guess todays meeting is already done, but after yesterday Kononov was in a position that he only had to win the remaining three rounds to become World Champ. Not a biggie...

Don't know if it was me, but there appeared to be a littlebit of an atmoshere in the Russian camp today, but Krasnikov is holding onto a slender lead, and Danil could pull off a shock win.

Kononov was a little too enthusiastic today hence the two falls

Reserves will replace the two lowest scorers on day 2

Krasnikov is only 8 points ahead, and looking at the top 4, it's his to lose.

Krasnikov hasn't won an A Final since R2, Danil has won 2 A Finals, with Kononov and Dimon K 1 apiece.

13 points separate the top 4 and any one of them could win it by winning both A Finals.

Mats Järf has announced that his season is over due to a knee injury he picked up in Russia and later aggravated in a fall in Assen.

That's a real shame. After his performance in Berlin i was looking forward to seeing him again.Hope he comes back even better next year
