Just watched the meeting - The gap between the top riders and the others was immense.

Knapp makes it under his own steam and looks like he means business this year. Klabo could have gone through but for and engine failure when leading. Holstein may struggle to get the Netherlands nomination as he was on the pace but just can't gate!

Klabo got through as reserve, after a run-off with Fürst

Interesting interview with Posa half way through, and aparantly he has just got married!

Thanks for that

World Championship QR 3, Saalfelden, Austria 22.1.11

Draw:

1: Jan Pecina (CzR)

2: Rene Stellingwerf (NL)

3: Per Anders Lindstöm (S)

4: Teppo Toivola (SF)

5: Dmitri Khomitsevich (Rus)

6: Harald Simon (A)

7: Simon Reitsma (NL)

8: Günther Bauer (D)

9: Peter Koij (S)

10: Dirk Fricke (CH)

11: Mark Uzzell (GB)

12: Vitali Khomitsevich (Rus)

13: Jüssi Nyronen (SF)

14: Mario Schwaiger (A)

15: Lukas Volejnik (CzR)

16: Christoph Kirchner (D)

R: Gerrit-Oege Schukken (NL)

R: Rene Verhoef (NL)

Prediction to go through: The Khomitsevichs, Simon and Bauer, but as for the 5th qualifier, it's anyone's guess.

I'd like to see Stellingwerf get the nod as the Dutch nominee if he doesn't qualify, but I suspect Johnny Tuinstra will get it as he's been in great form. Unless Reitsma is the find of the season!

Good Luck to Mark Uzzell too! Hope his hand holds up to the meeting, and he does the UK proud!

I did not see this one as I was experiencing some culture. Doesn't take much convincing though to agree with Conkers when he said the winners were basically miles away...

Seppänen was complaining about his front grip and basically was a bit disappointed. He has a secret weapon between his legs this season and I was wondering if he'd put it to use in Sanok... ;) I would have thought Malinen might do better, especially since Sanok is the place where he's done his best meeting yet (I think) when he was in the semis in the cup a couple of years ago.

Anyone know any photographers that were there? My army of snappers isn't out until the racing really begins... B)

To be honest Seppänen and Malinen were really off the pace. However there were a few races where I thought the riders were struggling to stay on their bikes. Even Kononov suffered a bit, bouncing around on the turns.

There was one race where Krasnikov left the tapes and the other three just followed him meekly. He was three bike lengths ahead as he entered the first turn, and was so far ahead by lap 2, he kept urning to see where the others were.

I see the Ukraine must have given up their place as Hutla rode, as Oleg Dosayev wasn't there and as I don't understand Polish (or any language other than English for that matter) I don't know if they explained his absence.

Wasn't there for that one Bryn, but he still gets to Assen most years in a spectating capacity these days!

Yes great to see a team being put together.Robert Irving is also lined up so i see.So good luck to all the guys

I don't think that Rob will be able to ride, which is a pity it would have been good to have all the British riders together in a meeting.

There is some other interesting news for German based fans. The motoring magazine Motorrad will have an article about Gunther Bauer, in the February issue which is published on the 4th of Feb.

I spoke with Klaus Herder, who wrote the article at Saalfelden, it was his first ice race meeting and was totaly hooked on the sport.
