marko
I cant help but think this competition is a waste of time, clearly some riders don't give a hoot about it and then we hear of clubs not telling their own fans about riders that will be missing even though to have such knowledge would have no negative effect financially to the club itself. Some clubs dont even acknowledge the fixture at all, there is not one press release on the Hammers website about the pairs before or after the event and i think it was exactly same last season, this meeting does not exist, it is not recognised even though it is effectively a BSPA event and every club/promoter is part of the BSPA. Its the very worn out record about coffins and nails, very frustrating.
ladyluck
For a "waste of time" it seemed to attract a decent enough crowd.
marko
Ladyluck It was probably a good crowd because people turned with expectations of seeing a good meeting with a quality field but from what i had read on here it was anything but that, i think if we are honest with ourselves as speedway fans a lot of what we do is based on the hope that it will be ok and things will get better where there have been problems and issues in the past. Hope is very dangerous thing and loss of it can be fatal.
Steve0
I have to say - what a watered down field. If I had paid £20 to get in plus travelling - I would have felt well short-changed!!
TrueBee
Made my first visit to Ipswich and won't be hurrying to get back, passing was very limited even when Nicholls and King were behind they were unable to get close to Haines. Not sure why they decided to put the gate positions as a,b,c & d in the program or why they had the white helmet colour as green in the semi and the final lol I'm not sure why a couple of posters have mentioned the referee, she has got a lot of stick on here in the past but I don't think she got a decision wrong. Heat 1: Nicholls tried to cut back and fell on his own, when they got to bend 3 and the red was still not on you know it won't be all 4 back. Heat 13: Bjerre pulled a massive locker on the first bend and one of the Eastbourne riders laid their bike down to avoid it. Heat 15: Woodward made the gate and fell on his own causing others to fall. Couldn't see a problem with any of those exclusions, perhaps one race when Zengota made a flyer it could have been pulled back but it looked like he just timed it very well. Starman2006
For a "waste of time" it seemed to attract a decent enough crowd. But the majority won't be going back. not even for a League meeting. So so many times we say it, speedway shoots itselfin the foot. Two weeks ago we had the biggest crowd of the season for the Wolverhampton meeting and fans were treated to good speedway, most if not all would have gone home and said, yeh, we enjoyed that, we'll go back. I have this constant battle with our local paper re the photo's that are put in the night after our meeting, basically there crap. Now, tell me this, if you saw photo's of 1234 riders spread out in a line people will say, oh that looks crap, don't think we'l bother, but if you see good photo's of riders upsides on a bend, then people will say, oh that looks good, lets go and have a look, and at poole you will usually see a good meeting. But back to last night,£20 for 18 -19 heats of follow the leader You must be easily pleased!! Plus Travelling expences something to eat £4 programme, for a single person, you won't get a lot of change out of £80,depending where yor going from, nevermind a family of as they say "2 kids 2 adults" No, something needs to be addressed, because people just can't afford that nowadays. NOBBY
How much was you rumbled for them, £3.70 -£4? Cheeseburger, chips and cup of tea was about £5 I think, so the food alone about £4. Even the cheese had no damn taste. To be fair the tomato sauce did though !!! Just !!! NOBBY
Could someone correct please if I am wrong, and I will apologise if I am, but wasn't it a case of Hans Andersen not riding in the Pairs last night due to an injury ???? Must have been a miracle recovery as he is riding tonight in Poland !!!! Is there a wonder health spa in Poland ???? I'd better go and take cover as it appears there is some more rubbish falling from a great height on us UK speedway fans !!! Bl00dy disgraceful !!! This post will probably be changed by the mods and I may well get my first warning but it has to be said. The standard of food at most tracks is disgraceful if you ask me.

I'd certainly much prefer the chicken fillets to an economy "beef" burger though thats for sure!!

And even if Adams did go to a funeral (on a Saturday? which I'm sure I read somewhere?), he made a bloody good effort to get to the same meeting as Andersen in Poland. At least Lakeside were honest and never entered Richardson for the pairs. Edited September 5, 2010 by Lovey
Trees
The promoters have to realise that they can't pull the wool over the fan's eyes, just come clean that is all we ask, we know what a draw Poland is and that GB comes 2nd best so just tell us as it is and stop fans summising or even worse getting to a meeting expecting a rider to be there then he isn't, thankfully that doesn't happen to much these days cos that really does take the wee wee!! Well said Trees. Perhaps you should ask the BSPA to take your testimonial off their website saying what a wonderful sport it is, until they do start being honest with us Edited September 5, 2010 by Lovey
