June
Ive just been watching the updates, Redcar v Workington and it just doesn't seem right that C. Cook can be a No 1 in N/L and No 1 in the P/L. Is it me not getting my head round it properly?
SCB
Kennett and Woffinden have done the same in the past. Possibly others. Really don't see the problem, he was a 3.2(?) rider in March, he's had a good season but we should not be taking his chances away from him, this is after all only his first full season of PL racing. nonglak1
He's top of Workingtons averages so he's No 1.
Pepper
To be fair he's only number 1 at Workington because the top 5 all have similar averages in the 6's. It's not like he has a 9 or 10 point average. With the same average in most other teams he'd be nowhere near number
June
Thanks for that.....its me then not getting my head into gear. Never noticed it with the others......usually a N/L no 1 is a reserve in P/L like Scunny's J Hart.
squall
Craig started the season with a PL average of 3.06, but has progressed in his first FULL season to be a PL number 1. No rules broken. You'll have to find another way of stopping Buxton winning the league.

Yes, Craig Cook last year in the NL (well this is the NL section ) 3.00 to over 9. Lord Darcy couldn't even do that in his 1st year

I think like Scunny they do loads to help bring on the youngsters and admire them for that. Scunny have won everything at N/L Level twice but not in with a chance this year..... Let it be the year for Buxton.....Good luck!
Pirate Nick
Rather than starting threads aimed at stopping Mr Cook riding in the NL shouldn't we be raising glasses to the fact that there is a young BRIT progressing rather nicely through the ranks? That was not my intention and I'm not even going to debate it with you.......I am 100% behind british youngsters and wish C. Cook all the luck in the world on reaching the top. rhidassa
Rather than starting threads aimed at stopping Mr Cook riding in the NL shouldn't we be raising glasses to the fact that there is a young BRIT progressing rather nicely through the ranks? Considering it's been worded as a polite question rather than a direct attack, I don't think that was the intention, as other threads started by others in the past for various topics may have been. Re-read the thread; as far as I can see, June hasn't mentioned stopping him riding in the NL once.

No - It just shows how infrequently you visit the NDL section... June - like many of us - is very much interested in the development of British riders. Like others of us who are regulars on this forum she also asks questions when she doesn't understand situations... hoping to get answers, rather than being attacked by someone who hasn't read the post in the way it was intended. Again - like many of us June probably has a 'soft spot' for Buxton, who have always been an honest stand alone club. I'm personally so pleased for Buxton that this season is going so well for them... Apologies to June if I have mis interpreted the thread. Its just that this was I think the second or third thread to mention C Cook and his Premier league status thats why I commented. As far as visiting the NDL section goes I visit it most days (dont often comment but enjoy reading the posts) as I am an ardent Buccs supporter (both on the terraces and with some financial help to some of the riders). Please dont assume that because my avatar is a Pirates one that that means I am an "Elite League snob" with little or no knowledge of the NDL. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than to see a young rider progress, Craig Cook and Kyle Newman are 2 that spring to mind immediately. Once again my apologies to June and I'm off to Weymouth v Tamworth now to see how the other half live and hopefully see Brendan bang in a maximum!! June
Apology accepted Pirate Nick.......You know if I could only have one wish granted to do with speedway, it would be to see all our british youngsters get the opportunity to fulfil their ambitions in their chosen sport,be sponsored and able to represent their country. Seems many drop out and only the odd few make it. I take my hat off to you for sponsoring any youngster, whoever he may ride for ( just so long as he's british ) I'm old enough to remember the days of so many good brits like Peter Collins, Kenny Carter and many many more, and it was so much more exciting having our own to support, having said that please don't think I am against some foreigners because I'm not. We do need a certain mix for competition.
