Plymouth Devils 1968

I've just gotten back into speedway thanks to the sky coverage.

I used to go and see the Devils in about 67/68 I think. Some of the riders names still linger in my mind - Dave Whitaker, Coles..someone called Vince. Does anyone know if a history of this period is lying around anywhere? There was stock car racing too - but I think that was on a different night. Names like Sparks spring to mind for that...and the numbers 707 and 747 for some reason.

No idea if this helps but give it a try!

"Plymouth Speedway" by Paul Eustace is a complete history of racing at Pennycross. I've just had a word with Paul, the author, and he is happy to post you a copy. If you want to speak with him regarding the book, purchase or otherwise, he has given his permission to post his home number here, 01256 761355. He is also the author of the history of Southampton Speedway, which has recently had its second or third reprint. Both books highly recommended.

Tim.
