George Stancl Farewell Meeting - 27th Sept 2010

Recommended Posts

The final line up is announced.......

The lineup for Monday night’s George Stancl Farewell meeting at Newcastle has been completed with the addition of Edinburgh’s triple league winner and captain Matthew Wethers, and Birmingham’s young Aussie prospect Aaron Summers.

This completes an excellent field with top-notch Elite and Premier riders attending to honour George, plus the special guest appearance of 1993 World Champion and Sky TV expert Sam Ermolenko.

It should be a great evening’s entertainment. Here are the teams for the meeting:

GLASGOW SELECT: Kenneth Bjerre, Andrew Tully, James Wright, Josh Grajczonek. Team manager: David McAllan.

SHEFFIELD SELECT: Rory Schlein, Pepe Franc, Kauko Nieminen, Aaron Summers. Team manager: Eric Boocock.

NEWCASTLE SELECT: Kenni Larsen, Rene Bach, Lee Complin, Chris Kerr. Team manager Jason King.

WOLVERHAMPTON SELECT: Mark Lemon, Danny King, David Howe, Matthew Wethers. Team manager Garry Stead.

SCB Referee is Graham Reeve. Let battle commence!

To be honest, the weather forecast is not too bad. Any rain and drizzle hanging around should die out. Likely to be cold and damp though. Being a testimonial I'm sure the riders will give it a go anyway and George should get his meeting.

An excellent line-up has been put together, so let's hope for a good turn out, especially as the new PLRC champion will be there :D

Can someone update on the weather about 2.30pm as we want to come down for this but after driving to Sheffield and back yesterday, working all day today not sure we could face getting to Newcastle and it pouring with rain and the meeting getting called off. Thank you. :-)

Not rained for over an hour now but the air is damp. TyneTees TV forecast is no rain tonight, so I think we have a meeting. Contact at the track said they have cut the track, no puddles and the track looks the same as last weeks which was slick until roughed up by the wheel.

Will be cold mind, so you might need a vest, and don't forget it is a 7.30pm first race start after the intros. Might be prudent to miss the intros and get on with the racing mind. :approve:

10 miles from the track, it's dry at the moment but is still grey.

Weather still a bit iffy. Been none stop drizzle for past couple of hours. I think its going to be one of those meetings where everyone wants it on so going to leave it until late as possible to make a decision. Hope it clears up though as I think at minute visibility for riders would be only problem in my opinion
