salty
All Sporting people who do not follow speedway should watch this meeting. It was simply great. Has the ever been a world final where there has only been 11 points between the four teams. Poles were worthy winners As long ago as......last year! Poland won with 44, Russia 4th with 35. Best team won today, fantastic effort from the Poles to come through and win after the start that they had. Even then I couldn't see them beating the Danes in 4 of the last 5 races. I think the Brits put on a good show, certainly seemed well motivated and were in the mix throughout.

pugwash
Should have got a medal today but Lyon used our Joker in the wrong place .... 100% agree. Big mistake by Lyon, cost team GB a medal. Big Ron for me.
Not Blinkered
100% agree. Big mistake by Lyon, cost team GB a medal. Big Ron for me. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, I actually think he chose the right moment to use it, but Chris, by his own words messed it up.
BWitcher
Me personally thinks he's GOD in World Speedway, let alone just Poland. He may never have won and possibly never will win a World Championship but in my life time he's the greatest speedway rider to grace this beautiful planet. Another deluded one. Red Panda
Interesting.....................the meeting got better as it went on but I have to say that apart from Harris and Richardson Team GB were a disaster..............another team manager may help but where are the up and coming riders?????????????? Apart from Daniel King not one rider coming through has caught my eye................ Time to restrict the number of foreign riders in EL/PL teams again????????????? Wrong gate ....Lyon press the panic button to soon ,he had plenty of time to use it as we only ever going to get 3rd place ...Nothing to do with Hindslight more to do with useing a Pl team manager . NOBBY
100% agree. Big mistake by Lyon, cost team GB a medal. Big Ron for me. Time to push the blame on the team manager again is it !!!!! All for the sake of 3rd place and a losers Medal !!! That's what it amounts to....a 'LOOOOOOSERS' medal. The plain truth is, it doesn't matter who you put in place as team manager, we will never win the damn World Cup because we don't have a GB team of world class racers and we don't have any world class GB riders coming through to replace who we do have in Team GB !!!! Forget the manager, forget trying to put the blame on whoever is daft enough to take the job on....the blame lays (or lies !) with those in charge of UK Speedway in helping to train up our opposition every year instead of helping some new British blood come through !!!! colincooke
I thought that was a good race meeting & the weather made the track slightly better than the usual slick as a baby's botty stuff you get from Vojens. Well done to the Poles, in fact well done to all 4 nations. Getting this on must have been tough so everyone deserves credit for that, even Ole Olsen. As for The Brits, well it's progress from where we have been the last 5 years so we can take credit for that, everyone mucked in on & off the track & that's what you need, we we're 1 joker ride away from a medal, that's how far we've come. Next year, 1 step further. For the Rob Lyon knockers, he's got us alot further than others have with these riders so don't knock him. He's getting us there & he's making our riders believe in themselves. Edited August 1, 2010 by colincooke

SuddenSam15
Well done Poleway ... great comeback Fact remains tho that Holta IS from Norway ... taxes, passports, and where you live will never change that ... he will ALWAYS be from Norway &if I was a Polish rider I would be unhappy at him getting my place ..... they have the riders .. thats whats so sad. Nicki Pedersen gets injured ... did the Danes go hunting for a loophole to recruit a better rider than Klindt to replace him ... no they stayed loyal to there country .... and they have my admiration for that ... big balls The rule should now be changed so that where you are born or parentage alone decides ... not just your passport Edited August 1, 2010 by SuddenSam15

RP Team Gb were largely a 3 ish man team Harris, Richardson and Woffinden a bit, and the only one of that trio that will improve is Woffinden IMO. And beyond them I don't really see any other real talent coming through. Team GB will be floundering for a few years yet, especially given the number of quality Polish riders that are coming through. The dark horses for the future most definitely the Russians.

ladyluck
Did not want the poles to win, they make such a god of Gollob. Can you really blame them? Last heat deciders in 2007, 2009 and now 2010, not forgetting that wonderful effort to beat Crump in Ht 25 of the race-off at Poole in 2004. When the Poles are in need, Gollob delivers. After Ht 24 today it was obvious Poland had it sewn up. Gollob versus Bjerre; no contest. Congratulations to the Poles on their fine win, although they did seem to try to throw it away with silly errors. And credit to Cieslak for showing faith in his team and not deploying a "joker" when he had a chance. I don't think that would've gone down too well if the Poles had missed out by less than three points.
stevebrum
Great effort from all of the GB team. They were so close and I hope that this is seen as a positive sign that British riders can mix it on the big stage. This should be seen as a step forward - though there will always be the knockers, I suppose. And a big pat on the back for Rob Lyon Agreed. Weve struggled to put out our strongest top 5 for a few years and it shows that we can mix it. However never thought we had a realistic chance of winning. Still proud that they put in decent effort Should have got a medal today but Lyon used our Joker in the wrong place ....two years now without a medal now pretty poor show with the side we got . Not to mention that Harris blew it which even he admitted. Lyon is a steady motivator it seems. Better than the rubbish that has gone before. At last someone talks sense. We will never be any good at Speedway or Football as a country until we stop letting the foreigners benefit from our facilities. I know I am a Lynn fan and probably biased but the team spirit seen in the team with Rob Lyon as Manager was great to see and you only have to look at Lynn's results this year to see that he does not get it right every time. Yes if Chris had pulled off the joker we would have got a medal but we didnt. Lets get over it and get behind the team for next year instead of moaning about what might have been. ladyluck
Have to say the Swedes were desperately disappointing, especially Fredrik Lindgren who just doesn't seem able to hack it at the highest levels. In mastering Monmore has he sacrificed more than he's gained?
Bagpuss
Well done Poland, looked the strongest team on paper and proved it after a pretty messy start. Haven't read through the thread as I expect its full of negativity but I thought the Brits did as well as anyone could have hoped really. With better use of the Joker I guess third could have been achieved but we always looked the fourth strongest on paper. In any case second third or fourth are much of a muchness, its the winners who people remember. The most important thing for me is that we weren't a distant fourth and went down fighting. Hopefully the performance can be built on in 2011. Though the referee got his calls right with the exception of Gollob in heat three, was an all four back all day long. EDIT Have to add that even though Rob has to take the blame for the Joker mistake, its pretty clear from what was said that the riders (presumably Bomber in particular) have an input in the decision too.
