noggin
Sweden will bring 7 riders to Vojens and the 5 riders will be picked after the practice. I'm pretty sure that Lindgren, Davidsson and Jonsson will ride Then Lindbäck, Zorro, THJ and Nermark will fight for the remaining two spots. Thought Zorro rode well at KL so should retain his place. 21st century heathen
You can't fault Rory for effort, but I happen to think that Shields is a tad better. Lakeside track length: 252 m. track record, 56.8. Vojens track length: 300 m, track record, 57.2. I don't think there is another track on earth that's like Lakeside. That's interesting to read. Monmore is around 15m longer but the track record more than 2½ seconds faster at just over 54½. 2½ seconds is a long time in speedway which suggests that at Lakeside the bike are spinning their wheels off and not going forward. Can't imagine why that would be! -------------------------------------------------- Assuming the Aussies don't have either of the big two back and that AJ does return (in place of Nermark - keep the rest) for Swe then I fancy Den and Swe to go through ahead of the Aussies. Den did a respectable job on Sun, the Poles were just too good. Swe had a bit of bad luck and Lindback was virtually absent until his last ride on Mon. They would/should have pushed GB and Aus closer. Both strike me as being capable of upping their game at Vojens. That will make it tougher for Holder and Watt to post big scores and it certainly doesn't make it any easier for Ward/Schlein at the bottom end of the Aus team. ladyluck
Why is no one mentioning the Russians? Victors at Vojens last season, after all. Okay, they're missing Sayfutdinov, but they still have riders capable of "mixing it" with the likes of Denmark, Sweden and Australia. They'll put themselves about and it would not surprise me to see them on Saturday.
eric i
My prediction, Sweden to win this one if AJ is back,Denmark will just get through with the Aussies close behind.

Beeone
http://speedway.org/speedway-worldcup/2010/index.html#vojens So according to that site, AJ definitely rides for the Swedes. That should make them a completely different proposition, unless he is in his Cardiff form.

If AJ is at his best, yes, but that's not something that always happens these days, especially if he's not 100% fit.

Sandie
Does anyone know when the FIM Jury get their fingers out of the backsides and decide on which team wears what helmet colour for the Race Off? I need it to finish off the updates template. Heart says Australia and Russia. Head says Australia and Denmark.

manchesterpaul
You might like to check out a new free totally non-commercial and no advertising whatsoever 'new kid on the block' race card. 'Score-As-You-View' Race Card for the World Cup Race-Off It's my first attempt at a race card which reflects differences that i think are beneficial. Hopefully others will also share my preferences in the layout. Have a look and see. Key differences to ones i've seen, some only small but i hope make for a better card. 1. 'Score-As-You-View' reflects the visual synchronization of the gates as seen on tv from outside to inside. Just one glance will align your eyes with what you see on the screen, you don't have to go loooking in the 'gate' column and then scan the line (possibly more than once, as i used to have to do anyway lol). 2. The colour coding is extended, as i use on my home made spreadsheets. Instead of just a small 'helmet colour' box (or even a letter 'R', 'B' etc.) the riders name is included. This again facilitates for only a speedier glance being needed. 3. The cumalative team total columns are also colour coded making for a quicker filling out of the race result and update of the standings. 4. A small touch, but again, i personally think it makes a difference, i've printed the rider's surname in block letters. If you think about it, whether in your own mind or listening to a race commentary you refer to a rider by the last name. Also if quickly scanning down the race card for a rider having the surname printed so makes it stand out easier. manchesterpaul
Nice race card, thanks. You're welcome. Although, as it's my first one ever - as in publishing a pdf document - forgive me for having made a couple of tweaks since you posted this. All in the name of improvement of course lol. Don't know if you downloaded it, but if so might be worth doing so again.
