Both leagues have scrapped the traditional tactical substitute regulation in favour of a new ruling which allows team managers to nominate two riders whose points can count as double if a team is eight points behind.

Most of what came out of the conference was good, but this is awful. It makes the sport look like a panto. Strangers to the sport can understand a substitue coming in, as it's used in nearly every sport. This, as has already been said, is 'It's a knockout' stuff. We expect the media to treat us seriously and come up with rules like this. Campaign now! Scrap the Knockout joker.

Had to check that this wasn't April 1st. This will make the sport a laughing stock.

How can we get the media to take our sport seriously when it is being turned into Its A Knockout on two wheels.

I witnessed this silly rule on several occasions last season and at each track the general consensus of supporters was that it was a stupid rule.

Did anyone ask the supporters their opinion. At present the above poll is showing 96% of the fans are against it.

This will lead to teams signing two top riders so that they can utilise this rule when they are behind on away tracks.

Would be interested to know which "genius" proposed this rule and how many of our esteemed promoters actually voted for it.

well last season it was the genius mind of Len Silver that started the ball rolling with this poor excuse for a joke!

would hazard a guess that he was behind this introduction as well!

speedway will always have the mickey mouse image while we have fools making

stupid rules . it made the knockout cup a farce.

it s like telling football teams who go 3 or 4 goals down they can have a free goal to keep the match alive.

i wonder if walt disney was at the conferance

it also throws the question will riders throw racers to keep to being 6 points down

Posted from another thread on Phil's request.

"Both leagues have scrapped the traditional tactical substitute regulation in favour of a new ruling which allows team managers to nominate two riders whose points can count as double if a team is eight points behind."

The way this is worded, it implies that the two riders are nominated prior to the meeting - is this correct?

I took a mate to watch Arena v Sheffield in the KO cup last season! He had not been to Speedway since 1971 although he enjoyed the meeting and said he may go again! He had a problem with the green helmet colour of course, but he had a major problem with tack subs gold tack subs and 15yd supa subs. In his opinion it was all too confusing! as well as trying to keep up with agregate score

He did not fill in his prog and relied on me for scores etc  not wise :(

As it was my first season back and I did'nt have a clue either:lol:
