tayls1973
Following my visit to Cardiff SGP this year i was so annoyed at the problems with the screen and the sound system i wrote to IMG complaining. I have since had a reply stating a whole new system is being installed for next year including 2 of the biggest screens in the UK and a brand new sound system. Was surprised i even got a reply tbh, but this should make the experience even better !
Sandie
excellent news. Worst sound ever this year, so at least they recognise the decline and are doing something about it. Fingers crossed its all in for 2011

MattK
Two years ago there was a small TV screen in each section of the bottom tier. These were not there this year. I don't know if each event organiser has to pay extra for these items, or if they were removed by the stadium owner, or maybe occupants? Frankly, the "large" screen on turn three was pretty ineffectual, although I thought the PA was excellent and got every race time, except for the two heats that Gollob won towards the end of the meeting. There was a TV in some part of the lower tier, we had one above us after we got moved round in front of the disabled viewing area

The big telly on the 3rd/4th bend has been next to useless for the last 4 years.
KrisB
Surely the point here is that The Millennium Stadium themselves must sort out these issues with ageing equipment. IMG can't do it but can clearly exert pressure.
Chris Brown
Surely the point here is that The Millennium Stadium themselves must sort out these issues with ageing equipment. IMG can't do it but can clearly exert pressure. Is that the same pressure they have used to make a difference to hotel pricing ? If so don't hold your breath The Rugby Football League had the right idea with the hotel costs. In Year 1 of Millennium Magic weekend the complained the the local Commerce Chambers and said that prices had to be reduced. In Year 2 they were not so the whole weekend moved to Murrayfield and Cardiff lost out Lets be honest, IMG is a money making organisation who couldn't give a stuff about whether the fans enjoyed it or not because despite clearly reducing the standard and the cost ofrunning the whole even year on year supporters are still all prepared to pay for tickets for next year 12 months in advance As long as that is the case any improvements will be nothing to do with IMG and if the Millennium Stadium want to make improvements it will not be because little IMG asked them to, although I have no doubt they will claim the credit
Garry1603
I emailed the Millenium Stadium last week as well. I mentioned the very poor sound system and they replied within 10 minutes apologising for the system and explaining that they were going to revamp it completely for next year. It was a very nice reply to be honest, let's hope tat they carry out their promise.
drew2
You should all be very happy next year as I was inside the Millenium Stadium today on business and can report much activity was going on. I am pleased to report that two new HD screens are being put in place at each end of the Stadium replacing the old ones and a new PA system and speakers were being hoisted up into the roof. The back straight speakers had been mostly done and the start finish straight had the speakers on the ground waiting to be put into place. From reading the posts above the Millenium Stadium have been true to their word and upgraded the equipment and at great expense so I was told. The odd thing was that since the speedway was there I am not sure they have had any events as the pitch wasn't in place but the outline of where the shale had been could still be seen clearly, looked just like Olsen likes it ! The other bad thing was that the company I was dealing with have a double size hospitality box right above the start/finish line but the problem is the ref uses it for the GP so that spoilt my ideas of sneaking in on GP night! Unless you become a top class speedway ref in double quick time, but then they wouldn't use a British ref for the British GP would they? They have done before Shadders as I believe both Mick Posselwhite and Tony Steele have had use of said box on GP night in Cardiff.

That should make the Welsh National Anthem bounce all round the stadium, as i felt it sounded a bit flat this year. All they want now is a decent band before the meeting and we;ll be Rockin all over the World!!!!!
shazzybird
Is that the same pressure they have used to make a difference to hotel pricing ? If so don't hold your breath That's a bit unfair Chris if you buy tickets for the meeting online it then gives you the option of booking a hotel at discounted prices ...... IMG don't make anything from the hotels the Hotelliers do, surely the pricing is down to them they were asked to discount it and they have from their normal prices when there is an event on at the stadium.
