Whose Idea Was It To Use Kings Lynn ?!?

Recommended Posts

How many brits ride for Poole?

One. Your number 8, and he's over the hill.

3 of the Aussie team ride for Poole, yet you think holding it at KL gives them an advantage. What would they have at Poole ffs?!

Open your bleeding eyes, Steve, and realise your aren't the cream of British Speedway. I watch speedwat in all 3 leagues, and the EL tracks give the worst racing out of the 3. I'm not a fan of KL, but they have a good stadium and (when it's done well) they have a superb track that you can RACE on.

Maybe next season Wimbourne Road should hold the PLRC, NLRC, EL Pairs, PL Pairs, NL Pairs, PL 4s, NL 4s, British Final, British U-21 Final, every round of the world cup, and that farcical meeting replacing the ELRC.

Any others you'd like? Or can PL and NL tracks have any meetings?

You may be able to afford to travel due to your playboy lifestyle, but us Northerners can't afford all these trips down South, especially 2 weeks after Cardiff!

Well said!

I think the fact that A PREMIER LEAGUE manager who is also GB manager has a lot to do with the decision to race there

I used Poole as a third choice. Monmore would be fine. An EL club in the centre of the country where British riders should do well. Not some PL track, regardless of how tidy it now is.

Hopefully the manager will do the right thing and fall on his sward in a couple of weeks time if TeamGB fail to make the final. It's on his neck in his own back yard. No excuses.

Kings Lynn or any PL club shouldn't get a sniff of holding a prestigeous international meeting in the UK. EL only and rightly so. The riders race in the EL, not PL. IF PL fans want to watch top riders, go to an EL track!

Doesn't matter about it being held at Kings Lynn but question is, have Team GB been renting out Kings Lynn this past week practising there?

No Rob, No practice in the 2 weeks preceding the FIM meeting, at the track hosting the meeting according to the FIM rules, and no meetings in the week before I believe

Utter madness to use Kings Lynn.

It's not an EL track. Team GB hardly ever ride on it. Where's the home advantage?

Why wasn't a British EL track used? SWC features EL riders, not PL riders. Kings Lynn should have no right to hold this meeting as they show scant interest in mixing with the better teams.

Why chose a track on a Monday which is about as remote as you can get?

Why chose a track that Batchelor and Ward were brought up on?

This meeting should have been held at Monmore, Coventry or Poole, or a track where the British riders hold the upper hand over their rivals.

This is going to be a walk in the park for the Aussies. Poor call to go to KL.

Absolute drivel

Decent track

Decent facilities

Nice to be able to watch speedway from any vantage point rather than one straight ala Wolverhampton Bele Vue etc

As for a venue that will offer Team GB an easier passage ...There aint one. Plus historically progressing via the race off offers a better chance of success.

Fair Play to Buster to get the place more attractive to hold this sort of event and i say this as a Rye Supporter who has no connection to Kings Lynn. There are other tracks that I would rather watch this meeting at but sadly neither Wolverhampton or poole come anywhere close

As a race track Wolves is probably one of the best in England along with Peterborough that i've been too. it's been many many years since i've been to Kings Lynn so i can't comment if it is good or bad.

The problem with Wolves is the fact that you can only stand on one side. where as at P'Boro and i believe Kings Lynn you can stand all the way around it.

Can't see what your moaning about Steve. if anything i think it's best we go to the race off as would give our riders extra time on the track if they were to get through to the final because if we went straight through to the final i could see us getting trounced.

What a load of cobblers. As long as the track holding such a meeting has the requisite facilities then it doesn't matter whether its Elite or Premier. King's Lynn have spent money on improving their stadium in recent years and deserve to hold events like this. Similar story to Rye House who have done likewise and applied for the Under 21 events.

As for Rob Lyon, give the guy a break. He might have a background in the PL but at least he is used to success. Can't really argue with his choices for Mondays meeting.

TeamGB will get my full support, even against the three Poole Aussies. And I agree that the team picked is the right team, unlike last year.

I just believe that an event like this should have been held on an EL track where the TeamGB riders ply their trade, not a PL track that offers no advantage to the British team, but a healthy one to the Aussies.

Yes it does ....speedway biggest problem in the Uk is that there is no reward for going forward or being a El club ...having a Pl team stage this event and having a Pl team manager being in charge let again gives no reason for teams to move up .

Who can blame Kl for staying where they are on anyone for that matter .

Obviously in a perfect world then all clubs would be striving to perform in the top section. But the world that modern day Speedway finds itself is far from perfect.

The demands of the GP's and leagues overseas means that the Elite is a midweek league and as our clubs are run as independent businesses you can't blame them staying in a League which more suits their needs. Much higher costs in the Elite, but certainly no guarantee of much bigger crowds.

Well, Rye House has the international meeting that is the final of Under 21 World Cup.

Can't see anything wrong personally with a PL club having a World Cup round - pity that Kings Lynn is so far from Poole for many of us to attend.

The GB team have practiced on the track quite frequently. That was how Roynon suffered his injury wasn't it? All of the TeamGB riders (or most of them )have plyed there trade in the PL before. Does it matter what track they ride on they are suppposed to be the worlds best. The teamGb riders don't ply their trade in the EL they ply there trade all over the continent Sweden, Denmark, Poland etc.It was probably also chosen for their facilities as well. Most riders would say they ike riding at the Norfolk Arena and i guarantee most Aussies would say that it is one of their favourite race tracks becuase in my opinion i believe the aussies are better racers than us brits.
