" The Monarchs press release will be out today no doubt, I see from the official site that Chris Slabon has been added to the field. Most of the field are mentioned on the Scottish Open thread on the Chatzone. Remember to hold onto your re-admission ticket

I guess having the 2010 Scottish Champion will have to do for the Tigers for now Would be nice , don't think we've had a winner of this event since Steve Lawson won it at Powderhall . Couple of ex-Tigers , Grievesy and Jason Lyons are in the field . While ex-moaner Rory " poo boy " Schlien is also there . I believe James Wright might be too . Don't know if there is any Banditos , while for the Princes of Darkness it's everybody ber McDade ( overseas commitments permitting of course ) . I would have thought that The Scottish Open, to determine the 2010 Scottish individual Champion would have been more played up well before now than it is being? Heck, Wales is a smaller country than Scotland and the Welsh Open made up the bulk of the very basic Newport Website for weeks before the event. What's going on here though? Why the secrecy? Ps. Also, as an afterthought, Why is there not an English Open? Edited July 21, 2010 by BongoBrian

Well we've already had a Scottish Open this year , and with the season rapidly approaching the business end maybe most folk would rather see a team meeting instead of an over-priced individual boreathon . george.m
Here are my predictions for the Edinburgh "Not So Open" 1. The meeting will last too long, with too much time between heats. So much so, that by the time the final arrives you won't care who wins unless a Tiger is in the final. 2. There will be little information between heats to keep supporters updated. 3. There will be at least 5 changes to the programmed riders. 4. The centre field grass will be cut but not fully collected, making it look like a hay field. 5. Ryan Fisher will take out at least one rider.... 6. .... per heat. 7. Kalle Katajisto won't be meeting reserve ... and won't score his usual Friday night tally! 8. At least one Monarch will withdraw due to a flight problem. 9. The Monarchy will not applaud any Tigers heat winners. 10. There will be that 'usual suspect' dog poo outside the main turnstile. Thanks to the original poster on Easy Tiger for the accurate dog poo observation - bit of a landmark at Armadull.
David Johnston1
Off topic I know but is it Glasgow v Edinburgh this weekend in the PT (fixture on the BSPA website)? How many (if any) Berwick riders are in the field for the Open?

How many (if any) Berwick riders are in the field for the Open? Yes it's the re-arranged PT group match that was rained-off earlier in the season . Ironically it will take place on the same day as the first leg of the final .

How many (if any) Berwick riders are in the field for the Open? Lee Complin has been invited but is only one still to confirm acceptance. The full list from the Official Edinburgh website 1 Erik Pudel (Germany), 2. James Wright (Belle Vue and England), 3. Andrew Tully (Edinburgh and Scotland), 4. Joe Screen (Glasgow and England), 5. Chris Slabon (Ipswich and Poland), 6. Kevin Wolbert (Edinburgh and Germany), 7. Rory Schlein (Peterborough and Australia), 8. Thomas H Jonasson (Swindon and Sweden), 9. Jason Lyons (Birmingham and Australia), 10 Kalle Katajisto (Edinburgh and Finland), 11 Matthew Wethers (Edinburgh and Australia), 12 Oliver Allen (Unattached and England), 13 Tobias Busch (Edinburgh and Germany), 14 Lee Complin (Berwick and England, subject to confirmation), 15 William Lawson (Belle Vue and Scotland), 16 Ryan Fisher (Edinburgh and USA). Interesting addition is Oliver Allen, who along with William Lawson are currently unattached

Although this meeting will probably prove a pretty stiff test. Looks like Gino Manzares is taking the number 14 race jacket. http://www.edinburghspeedway.com/news/article.asp?id=888 Looking forward to this one and if The Fish is in half as good as form as last week, he should have a chance. Sandie
I would love to come up for this but for all those Edinburgh fans let this be a warning to you - Lynette and Lyndon Schlein are in the Country and will be heading your way for this meeting!!! One year I will make it up. But until then - updates it will be for me. Edited for accuracy!!! LOL Edited July 21, 2010 by Sandie

Thanks to the original poster on Easy Tiger for the accurate dog poo observation - bit of a landmark at Armadull. I think the field looks quite good personally, and there's a number of potential winners. Schlein and Wright will probably be up there again, and Olly Allen will be a good rider to see since it's been years since he's ridden Armadale. Of course Slabon is also riding well going by his Welsh Open win. Fisher and Kalle could also be in with a shout, whilst Tully and Matty may well prove to be spoilers. Kevin could also win, if he regains his '09 Armadale form. The quoted post is just another example of the sheer jealousy that the Tigers have towards Edinburgh, and in particular Flyin' Ryan. I'll treat it with the contempt it deserves, but ask one simple question in reply. Who's the current Ashfield Classic holder? We have Joe Screen, Travis McGowan and the emerging Josh G ... and you think we're jealous of Fisher? Aye right!!!! Didn't know the Edinburgh Comedy Festival had started already!!! Glasgow fans jealous of a rider with his riding 'tactics' reputation ... I think not!!!! Don't make the mistake of judging me by your standards! Jealous ... dream on! Edinburgh are not the speedway nirvana benchmark. Same old, same old! Yawn!!!!!!!!!!! Time for my bed now! Before that, current holder of the Ashfield Classic ... in my eyes ... James Wright ... and you know why! Edited July 21, 2010 by george.m

Don't think he is BFD - If I remember, he didn't compete last year as he was injured. As for the other comment - a boy needs his mum from time to time! I thought it was cancelled last year due to inclement weather? Mind you, I once missed a complete November, so my memory's not too crash-hot either!.
