Rye House V Bournemouth Nl

Any idea who the Cobras might have available to ride given that the Rockets are up north on the same night and some injury doubts still exist? Guess the Buccs with have the (now) usual 1 to 7. Could be quite a good meeting.

With no Marc Owen already (i believe?) plus lee and Kyle at Workington, it looks like two guests and R/R, I'd like to see Barrie Evans for Kyle, Jon Armstrong for Lee and Tom Stokes as no. 8 taking the R/R rides. Queue press release proving me wrong however ;)

think you will find geust only allowed for #1 so will have to be guest for hughes r/r lee and #8

As I said in my post, Marc Owen is also out injured, leaving us 2 guests and R/R, Hughes is not number 1, Jamie Smith is, however as we are missing 3 main team riders, two guests are allowed in addition to r/r.

Think we only require one guest for Hughes or Owen plus R/R , the last clash between Rockets and Cobras Strudwick rode for the Cobras .

Ah yeah, I remember now, was in the press release when he originally stepped up, Evans for Hughes then I reckon with r/r for Marc if he is unavailable, however he may want to test his fitness before the u-18s at Somerset which is on the 30th I believe...

Not in the NL it doesn't. You are only permitted a guest for your number 1. You can use r/r for any other rider missing from the 1-5 and after that it is use your number 8 or an unattached 3pt rider.

Typical really, one rule for the top two divisions, yet the 'professional' National League has it's own rules regarding missing riders.

going off track it's the same with the ko cups. tac rides in the EL and NL yet none in the PL. no wonder people can't take the sport seriously.

Certainly unlucky for the Cobras last night, Jerran Hart scored less than Smithy would have, whilst r/r picked up 1 point, a lot less than Kyle would have scored. We also lost Ben Morley early on and that will have played a part. Magic Mason scored paid 10 from 5 rides, not bad at all, he wasn't fantastic last night but does seem to be starting to get nearer to where he was a few years back. Lee was unfortunate with an exclusion and a fall, whilst Shane Hazelden was again brilliant, he now looks so at home round Rye and ilook forward to his races. Tom stokes made a lightening start in heat two to win, whilst had the pacebut couldn't make a killer pass in his other rides, I noticed at the start he looks at the tapes rather than the magnetos on the gate, maybe that would help him, the lads certainly NL standard though.

Well done to the Cobra's for putting up a good fight with a depleted team and well done to Bournemouth for making the most of the chance of victory that was handed to them.

It was also good to see Shane Hazelden scoring plenty of points.

Ok I may as well give a neutral view.icon_lol.gif

Possibly the lowest crowd I've ever seen at Rye house - £12 to get in is the most expensive in the NL and I think Len needs to look at that.ohmy.gif

With no atmosphere all night (apart from a few very biased shouts from some Rye fans in the main stand) the meeting really laboured on - 2.5hrs is way too long.

An injury hit Rye side were there for the taking and a poor looking Bournemouth team only just managed it.

For Rye:

Jerran Hart: expected him to go through the card 10pts but disappointing

David Mason: Quite happy to just gate and sit wherever he is.

Ben Morley: Withdrew injured.

Lee Strudwick: Always feel he should do better than he does.

Tom Stokes: Tried hard all night – not a bad start to his NL career.

Shane Hazelden: Very good night – remember some Rye fans giving him stick early on. Personally would have put him in heat 15 ahead of Strudwick.

For Bournemouth:

James Brundle: 15point max – not sure he would have got past Strudwick in first attempt at heat 13 but made sure of the re-run.

Mark Baseby: Cannot understand this lad – has gone backwards big time.

Karl Mason: Scored his average.

Kyle Howarth: Looks a good prospect.

Dan Halsey: Fell twice and I'm not sure why – expected a little better from an ex Rye man.

Aaron Baseby: Scored well but not sure he has improved from his Sittingbourne days.

James Sarjent: Took two heavy knocks in heat 2 – tried hard after that.

I am of the opinion that, and it is just my opinion, all young Brits have gone backwards this year, I really do not know what is happening in speedway. blink.gif

Lots of them just don't appear to have the grit and determination of the Poles and Aussies etc. it's as though they want everything handed to them on a plate and I fear for the future of this great sport.

Well I've had my rant – all just my opinion.

Well just edited this pretty entertaining match. and can't disagree with Bossman too much tbh, only thing I would add is that the ref was a bit inconsistant, Sure Shane locked up to cut back in heat 2, but if he hadnt he would have run into Arron, but Sarjeant ran into him, so could have been given either way, Sargent could have been excluded from the re-start as he ran into Stokes. Points were thrown away by Hart who seemed to be trying to impress just a bit too much and he clearly took out Struwick in heat 6. Considering the injuries Rye did well and I have no doubt at full strength, it would have been a home win, but leagues are won by going to the right place at the right time. Credit to Bournemouth who used their team management knowledge well to sneak the win.

Footage will be on the Herts Mercury site tomorrow. DVD's available from teh track on Saturday.

Pretty sure they said that Nelson couldn't be used again, but because of the confusion over the rule, they wouldn't dock the points...

vog if you are right i wil sadly stop going to speedway.rye new the rule i said before jack lee of buxton told me weeks ago they buxton were told nelson was not able to ride in the national league.so how come rye did not know what a load of tosh.if i was a bournmouth or dudley manager i would be protesting because rye could stop them getting to the play off by bending the rules,if you mr morrish let them get away with cheating you should lose your job.
