Boggle
Can anyone who was in Gdansk for the first round confirm the meeting format-20 straight heats or GP style with semi`s and a final ? I checked the programme after i got back to the hotel and had dried off, the programme had 20 heats in it , and then two blank heats for ht 21 and h22 with no indication of what they were for So as far as I could tell there would have been no semi finals or final , maybe hts 21 and 22 were just for race offs for podium places (I think Pavlic got 3rd through a coin toss)

S.B
U-21 Finals have only 20 heats like simple individual race and don't have simifinals and final heats
S.B
hhhahahhahahahaah. Have you rigged the whole tournament?hahahhah If this tournament badly ride some of your favorite - it does not mean that the tournament is a whole
S.B
As Latvia was part of the old USSR its fair to say that they have a bit of history in the sport to say the least. Plenty of World Finalists in the the 60's and 70's. In recent years Latvia has been a GP circuit and Gorican in Croatia gets its first GP this year. Therefore both countries with a growing interest in Speedway so only right they should be encoursged. In next year, from Latvia will ride Andrzej Lebedev I beg to remember this name
S.B
And in the end of my little speech Ward in England and Ward in Europe - is a big difference The only one enemy is on our track - it Pavlic Come to us. we have good beer like in the Czech Republic BEER - ALUS - ПИВО
dirt
I just saw your comment on language barriers. I don't think that's a real issue in speedway. Kevin Wolbert's english isn't fluent, and he gets on very well riding for us in Edinburgh. The U21 series is now a bit better that it's being held over 3 rounds, on different tracks. It will show that whoever wins can adapt to riding different types of track. Where the tracks are georgraphically is neither here nor there, in my opinion. If you're visiting a different country it's usually a great experience - having visited Poland for speedway, it's a great experience. In fairness I thought Ward rode fantasticly at Peterborough tonight. I'm not a huge fan of what I'd seen of Darcy last season, but he impressed me there - and piled up valuable fantasy league points for me too! Having seen both at a similar age, I think Woffinden was better. He had more track craft, and was a clever rider. On his first visit to Armadale, he followed people for 3 laps, and then made his move. Ward on the other hand went gung-ho, and had to withdraw from the meeting! Obviously Woffinden is a better rider than him comparing them right now, but that wouldn't really be fair since Tai's got a couple of years on Ward. His Elite League average says that, all from the main body. I think Ward's good, I just don't think he's as good as you, nor plenty others, think. Many have tried to downplay Wards ability in this thread, but he seems to have found some form at the business end of the season. A skilled showing at PB, followed by a 14 point paid max in the crucial Cup tie v BV. Next was the World Cup tie at K/Lynn and Wards ride in ht 22 was the race of the night. He stalked Woffy until the final bend when Ward went high wide and handsome to get the drive to the line. As pure as it gets. Maybe Tai should be riding the U/21s instead of getting pummeled in the GP's. Maybe then their wouldn't be 2/3 of the series in Russia or former parts of Russia. It really is a sad state of affairs that not 1 Brit could make the final.

Why Bridger and Woffinden didn't do the qualifiers I have no idea (though I would imagine Tai wanted to concentrate on the GP's). Woffinden obviously got the GP pick as the second Brit in the absence of anybody else worthwhile. Sure it is probably a bit early and he has struggled. For what it's worth I hate the fact the Brits have to rely on nominations and I think the whole system is flawed. Was a good ride by Ward at Lynn, but he hardly "stalked" him. They swapped positions 2 or 3 times. If you are interested bet365 have Ward at 14/1 for the Under 21 title. Given that he is only 4 points behind the leader you might want put some dollars down.... Why Bridger and Woffinden didn't do the qualifiers I have no idea (though I would imagine Tai wanted to concentrate on the GP's). I would have to guess Bridger gave up as he knew he wasn't a real chance, but Woffindens abscence is alarming. It may have been his best chance to be world champion and instead he forfeits and doesnt evan show up, chosing instead to get pummeled in meetings where he is out of his depth ime and time again. Not to mention he didnt even qualify FOR THE GPS and accepted a charity invitation on the platter which he didnt deserve. Woffinden obviously got the GP pick as the second Brit in the absence of anybody else worthwhile. Sure it is probably a bit early and he has struggled. For what it's worth I hate the fact the Brits have to rely on nominations and I think the whole system is flawed. Of course it is Was a good ride by Ward at Lynn, but he hardly "stalked" him. They swapped positions 2 or 3 times. Yes but Ward was stone last from the tapes and had to invent a line no one had dared to even attempt all night and made it stick, just getting in front for a bit but Woffinden always had the easier line and could ride wherever he wanted and the momentum got him back in front...heading into the last lap Ward behind goes a bit wider on turns 1-2 to get some drive for the final bend heroics. Woffinden stays low on the track as to block Wards past line but Ward knows theirs only one way to do it.and blasts round the outside to steal it on the line by half a wheel. Unbelievable ride maybe the best ever. If you are interested bet365 have Ward at 14/1 for the Under 21 title. Given that he is only 4 points behind the leader you might want put some dollars down.... Money for JAM. Im surprised the serious punters haven't hit them hard by now. As Ward is well and truly overs at 15.00 (decimal odds) as of this morning! Not sure of the form of the other riders but its irrelevant - Ward should be 7 or 8/1 IMO and at 15.00 it deserves to send them broke. Anyway I just hope the damn weather doesnt destroy another round, or theyll have to call it something else. Like mud bog speedway or weave around puddle speedway. Trees
The BSPA oughta buy the rights to this and do a deal with SKY, I'd like to be able to see it, wouldn't you? Even better hold it over here so we can see some of it live
dirt
I wouldn't be so sure,Bogdanovs and Laguta on their home track are going to be hard to beat. You would think Bogdanovs is already half over the line, judging by the odds offered hahaha I guarantee Ward finishes above some of the riders with shorter odds than him. Sounds like deja-vu thats what they said about Pavlic last year. Riders choke and sometimes being a home rider they cant cope with the pressure, and they crumble, so it works both ways just ask Pavlic what happened last year in his own backyard. Most anticipated and fascinating couple of meetings for the whole year, and could easily be live on the internet at least. Or sell it to sky and divide the money between the competing riders. Wouldnt hurt the sponsors either.
Anders
I guarantee Ward finishes above some of the riders with shorter odds than him. Some? Judging how high up on the pedestal you're putting young Ward, he shouldn't be beaten by anyone in the U21 series. Anything else than a maximum must be a failure! just ask Pavlic what happened last year in his own backyard. So finishing second in a World Championship is choking? Dear God, are you for real or just trying to wind people up? If so, you have succeeded... (Restraining myself from posting something that would get me warned...) Doesnt need a max and doesnt need to win them all, but when it counts I know who I'd be backing! So finishing second in a World Championship is choking? Dear God, are you for real or just trying to wind people up? If so, you have succeeded... Holders 2nds were unlucky,,,, It depends on the context of the meeting. Pavlic bottled it so badly it was funny. He was in the drivers position to win it after Woffindens exclusion ....but the pressure and nerves got to him and yes he choked it and buckled under the pressure (bottled it!) Before his head stopped spinning, from the perceived pressure Ward was in the drivers position and...Ward doesn't choke. In Pavlic's case last year 2nd was definately the first loser. Home track advantage and he lost out to a 17yo, what would you call that?? Rising to the occasion!?!? He choked it 100% For real.
