rhidassa
And this week Plymouth take the ferry over to challenge the Islanders.. c/o BSPA Press Releases: PLYMOUTH will be without the injured David Gough for their National League visit to the Isle of Wight on Tuesday evening. Gough injured his collarbone in Friday’s challenge match against Team Viking. The collarbone is not broken, as was first thought, but heavy bruising means that Gough is likely to be sidelined for a couple of weeks. The Devils will operate the rider replacement facility against the Isle of Wight, who are due at the St Boniface Arena for the return match on Friday evening. Plymouth: Seemond Stephens, Matt Bates, Paul Starke, rider replacement, Mark Simmonds. Reserves: Jaimie Pickard, Ben Reade. And updates will be available here. Scarboro got the jump on Bates, but was passed coming into the 4th turn. Track quite dusty, despite being quite wet on top, could be interesting. At the front, Simmons was stalking Stephena all the way, before going round the outside of him on the last turn, great move. Sponsored by www.enjaydesigns.net Heat 02: Felton, Hill, Pickard, Reade, 5-1, 8-4, 73.9 Comments: Even break, but the Islanders emerge at the front, Reade in a right old state! Biggest challenge the I.o.W. had was themselves, I would say it was great team riding . . . . . . . . Easy 5-1. Sponsored by Steve Dixon www.stevedixonphotography.co.uk Heat 03: Re-Run: Warwick, Johnson, Starke, 5-1, 13-5, 73.8 Comments: Jaimie Pickard taking R/R. Warwick with a blinder from the outside, but the tapes didn't rise on the inside, almost taking Starke's head off, which he didn't look too pleased about! Heat being re-run. Re-Run: Another good gate from Warwick see him hit the front, with Johnson taking a good line to move into second down the back straight. Again, the only threat to the I.o.W. were each other. Pickard retired. Sponsored by: Speedway fans, we will take your favourite picture and turn it into an awesome one-off gift, check us out at www.createaclock.co.uk ... Sunshine!! Heat 04: Simmonds, Hopwood, Hill, 3-3, 16-8, 71.5 Comments:Hill away from the gate, but Simmonds outside him on back straight. Reade round the outside on bend 4, but fell on his own and remounted before retiring. Hopwood quickly into 2nd place, but Simmonds too far ahead. Nice rainbow appeared over the back straight as well. Sponsored by Friends of Edinburgh Speedway http://www.foes.info/ Bit of tractor racing. Heat 05: Warwick, Stephens, Johnson, Bates, 4-2, 20-10, 71.8 Comments: Warwick and Stephens both with brilliant gates, but Seemonds outside run saw him hit the front entering the back straight, before Warwick leapt round the outside of him, storming round the banking for the lead. Johnson got closer and closer to Stephens, but couldn't pass him. Sponsored by Splod Heat 06: SIMMONDS, Simmons, Scarboro, 3-7, 23-16, 71.3 Comments: Mark Simmonds on a Tactical Ride. Simmonds reared at the start, which left Simmons to clamp him down, but Simmonds pushed through for the lead. Pickard then fell off on 1st bend, 2nd lap, but got up quickly to push his bike onto the centre green. Simmons had a moment on the 2nd bend, lap 3, but held on for 2nd place. Sponsored by Heat 07: Hopwood, Felton, Starke, Reade, 5-1, 28-17, 71.6 Comments: Ben Reade taking R/R ride. Hopwood away, with Starke trying to go under him. Felton attacking Starke hard though, trying inside, then outside, before nailing him on home straight. Starke right back at him though, before finally running out of steam. Reade = nowhere. Felton very happy as he crossed the line, some good head-banging action going on!!! Sponsored by Merlin Tractor racing again. Heat 08: Bates, Scarboro, Hill, Pickard, 3-3, 31-20, 74.5 Comments: Pickard in for Reade. Plenty of smoke from Scarboro's machine before the start, but a decent start from smokey put him into the lead, with Hill tucked in behind. Bates never far away, and always in with a chance considering the I.o.W. team riding, which saw him go straight up the inside of both of them going into the 3rd bend, 3rd lap. To be fair, I think Hill was faster, but trying to help Scarboro slowed him up. Sponsored by www.methanolpilot.com - dedicated to helping speedway Heat 09: Simmonds, Warwick, Johnson, Reade, 3-3, 34-23, 71.1 Comments: Reade in for Pickard. Simmonds with a great start, nothing Warwick or Johnson could do but watch as he romped home. Sponsored by inthedirt clothing - inthedirt.co.uk - facebook.com/inthedirt Heat 10: Simmons, Bates, Starke, 3-3, 37-26, 73.4 Comments: Bates taking R/R. Scarboro with a great gate, Simmons following into a 5-1 position. However, unlike Hill, Simmons cleared off for the win, leaving Scarboro to fight his own battles!! On more than one occasion the Devils got close, before Scarboro, having done the hard work, retired on back straight. Starke also seemed to have trouble on last lap, but coasted home for 3rd. Sponsored by Heat 11: Stephens, Hopwood, Bates, 2-4, 39-30, No Time Comments: Bates excluded under 2 mins. Going off 15m handicap. Stephens with the drop, Hopwood just behind, with Bates straight onto Feltons tail. Really dusty out there now. Felton fell through the dust on bend 2, lap 3, and isn't getting up. Race awarded. Felton spun going into bend & slid through dust into fence. Now up on his feets & walking back to pits, Rusty says big drama queen! Sponsored by Interval being taken. Heat 12: Warwick, Starke, Hill, 4-2, 43-32, 71.8 Comments: Hill nudges tapes, goes off 15m. Warwick away and into the lead, Hill right on Pichards exhaust pipe! Storming move from Hill around Pickard on the 3/4th bends to take 3rd place. Pickard retired a lap later, easy win for Warwick. Sponsored by Thinking about getting a website? - www.brightstardesigns.co.uk - The Bright Light In Website Design Heat 13: Simmonds, Hopwood, Simmons, 3-3, 46-35, 71.3 Comments: Simmonds away from the tapes and gone, with Stephens up there as well, before both Islanders blast past going into 3rd bend, first Hopwood, then Simmons. Simmonds just too quick though. Stephens retired. Sponsored by Art and Stitch for all your sewing and art supplies www.artandstitch.co.uk Heat 14: Re-Run: Felton, Starke, Johnson, 4-2, 50-37, 72.9 Comments: Starke taking R/R. Its a different Islanders team tonight, as another pair jump from the tapes into a commanding lead. Reade high sided on 2nd bend, lap 2 into fence, and stayed down, bike tumbling down the track, into the fence. Race stopped, and will be re-run. Reade excluded from re-run but up and walking back to pits. Re-Run: Ditto first running, Isalnders away, although this time Starke pushed forcefully under Johnson on 4th bend, before setting after Felton, but with no joy. Sponsored by Heat 15: Simmonds, Warwick, Stephens, Hopwood, 2-4, 52-41, 71.3 Line-up: Ben Hopwood, Danny Warwick, Seemond Stephens, Mark Simmonds Comments: IoW win toss again taking 2&4. Elbows galore between Hopwood and Stephens, but Warwick couldn't quite get over Simmonds, to leave a Devils 4-2 after 1 lap. Both Islanders very wide on last lap, trying to get past, but to no avail. Sponsored by Deadlock Clothing - www.deadlockclothinguk.com ************************* Comments: Teams confirmed. Ref is Mick Bates. Been raining on & off all day so track a bit slippy. I.o.W. won the toss, and will take 2 & 4 in heat 1. Rusty wants to say a quick hello to his dad who is poorly tonight & watching the updates as he couldn't make it. © 2005-2010 All meetings are copyrighted to Speedway Updates, permission must be sought and we must be fully credited before they are used elsewhere.
