BWitcher
Just got home, crowd seemed down in attendance from last year, entertainment was awful, the royal navy, what was that about, so boring, miss frank and ruth lorenko howling, the welsh guy ok for the mens working clubs, then the racing, first number of heats it was won out of gate two then gate one took its turn, track was poor, too slick for proper racing.couldnt hear the tannoy on the 2nd bend up hihh' Brits were a joke, if thats the best we have then whats the point in going to kings lynn in 2 weeks, the promotors are to blame, they get in too many weak foriegners and not give up and coming brits a go.Glad holder won, shame about gollob. To me cardiff has worn out, been there done that, dont think i will bother next year. You are either taking the p or were somewhere else this weekend. paulr
The Public address system was absolutely dire last night. You couldn't understand a word being said. We were on turn 4 and couldnt hear a word either - I just thought it was because we were in the cheap seats !! i printed off the race order before i went so that the kids could fill in the programme too! Imagine my surprise when after spending £8 for a programme i had to write the riders down myself! the web programmes were better than the real one, i wont make that mistake again! Im so glad I printed of a couple of the Kandysoft ones prior to leaving - I just used that and gave up with the programme. A good meeting and a great atmosphere but I also felt the attendance was down - the upper tier of the start straight was virtually empty - though maybe there were more peeps on Turns 3&4 than usual to balance it off ??? Would someone please tell our visitors waving red & white flags that beer is for drinking not splilling all over the place or, worse still, throwing - as one moron did with his beer and managed to annoy about 30-40 people in front of him Edited July 11, 2010 by paulr
Star Lady
The impression I got from the TV coverage was there were far fewer air horns this year, or have they just managed to find a way to blank them out? I've seen a lot of comments about poor PA, was that because of the noise of the airhorns or just a crap PA system? The noise was one of the reasons we stopped going. No objection to air horns in reasonable moderation but when they started to use them as entertainment, with the constant urging to "sound your air horn now" it became too much and spoilt the enjoyment. Stiltonpanther
Enjoyed the whole day and thought the racing was very good. Well done to Holder and bad luck on Gollob. Entertainment was poor but who cares. The biggest disappointment for me was that there were a group of Poles in front of us who cotinuously stood up with their very large flag every time Hampel or Gollob were in races. The stewards, two young girls, told them to sit down but we had to move ourselves.

I was well chuffed with our seats on the fourth bend, cheapest ones I've ever had and by far the best. We sat in the empty seats (after asking the stewards if it was okay to do so) and had noone behind or in front of us throughout the meeting. My son and his friends were able to go and sit in the front row and could see everything as well as collecting the shale from the green netting
Towler Racing
After watching the gp on tv, i thought it was very good, hard racing from all, few handbags at ten paces from riders always good lol, felt sorry for tai not being able to celebrate properly, my gripe is... either my eyes were bad or gates one and two had a better advantage than 3 and 4? which to me spoilt the first bend as 3 & 4 had lot of ground to make up, agree with others the track wasnt the same foe the semis. I will admit after watchin live and watching on tv, you cant beat the atmosphere when trackside.
tigerblues
Went to Cardiff yesterday for the 3rd time and it was superb as per, but with some good racing thrown in aswell this year. Fantastic winner, Chris you've deserved that all season and are an absolutely awesome addition to the series and long may it continue. Little bit of controversy on track, few handbags thrown so all in all it was a thoroughly entertaining GP for several reasons. Entertainment was poor though, Ruth whatever her name is attempting to sing the classic that is Highway to Hell was painful and the bloke who sings every year never sounds any better either. The PA was pretty bad on the first bend, upper tier, but not as bad as when I was on the back straight upper tier last year so that was an improvement at least. Shame the people who can't handle their booze or temper didn't stay at home though because I didn't pay £40 to watch idiots chucking punches and beer all over the place. That mob in the next block to me (few blocks round from the pits on the first bend, as I said above upper tier) want to be ashamed of themselves and as for the stewards.. you'd been intervening all night with this lot yet before the final nobody was there until it had all kicked off like that.. poor show by all involved. andyevans
I really enjoyed the meeting, My Polish wife looked very dispondant when Gollob bike broke down, Personally I love the day out in Cardiff the colour, noise and supporters waving their flags prior to the meeting mingling in town is incredible. The only downside I thought the PA system wasnt clear especially in the upper tier and I think the stewards seem not to act on some idiots there unlike the football when even if you stand up they home in on you !!! overall though what a tremendous day out !! I managed to make a little video My link and managed to capture the Grid girls,!! my basic polish skills managed to get me a nice photo he he !! ps I think the wife was shopping at this stage !! lol Edited July 11, 2010 by welshspeedwayfan

BossMan
Went to Cardiff earlier than usual this year and had a good look around the atmosphere in the city grew all the time and there was a great buzz in the air. Now the meeting itself from imho: The pre meeting entertainment was crap could even be the worse yet. The sound system was crap same as a previous visit there. The firework display was crap the shortest yet. The meeting itself loved it and I will be back. Considering there was all the hype about it being the 10th year I thought it was only the track / riders that saved this meeting. Maybe the stadium is getting old now and needs upgrading or maybe the promoters need to improve the whole package and make sure we get what we pay for, whichever it is let's get in right next year. WembleyLion
PA was rubbish, worst in 10-years. I'm glad someone else has said that as I thought it was just my hearing going - I couldn't hardly understand a single word all night! Fortunately it didn't spoil my enjoyment as it was easy enough to follow what was happening!
scottrocks
I was very pleased that Chris Holder won it, also. It's nice to have a change, like in 2007. As for Tai, he was actually the highest placed out of the Brit boys, plus he could still have another 20 years left in speedway! He's got time Tomasz was looking very strong, so would have made a good final- Crump, Holder, Hampel and Gollob. In response to others: I think fireworks were good with them coming from the top, but I was waiting for a big finale! Do you think they should scrap the singing pre- match entertainment? Who could they actually get who could really get that kind of crowd 'going', not in the leaving sense . Next year we're talking about doing the three meetings at Somerset, Cardiff then Newport.. Wonder what dates it will be...!
thehammer
I heard the PA perfectly fine... maybe being sober helped for once... only problem with it all was where was the last heat time hehe Kind of forgot that hen reading out the result! oldtimer
Why were all the riders wearing Torun City Of Sport race jackets?
Mike9
Hi, Does anyone have Chris Holder's race winning time from the final (Heat 23) at Cardiff yesterday? Thanks in advance.
Young51
Why were all the riders wearing Torun City Of Sport race jackets? Because they are one of the sponsors and trying to promote their fabulous new stadium i suppose.Judging from what i've seen on Sky i'd love to go there myself! bruno
i love the poles enthusiam but it gets annoying after the drink starts flowing.every year i sit in the top teir and wait till just before the first race then move to a few rows with no one in and enjoy the racing.note to people being annoyed by drunken yobs--just move theres plenty of spare seats Edited July 11, 2010 by bruno
Shadders
Hey Shadders sorry but offence taken at your Polish remark.People were quick enough to have a go at Dekkers 'stavros kebab king' remark about yourself. It goes both ways.I've come across a fair bit of anti-Polish crap in speedway and cycle speedway, and it's starting to get on my ** tbh. Not anti Polish, not anti anyone... notice the wink.
