Cardiff Grand Prix

Recommended Posts

Felt sorry for Gollob just when it looked like he was going to lay his Cardiff bogey to rest, the bike chucks it....

Thoroughly enjoyable speedway meeting, with the occasional boxing contest breaking out.

Aussie pits and Danish pits could be interesting in the World Cup.

Holder rode well and took advantage of the good luck that came his way.

Talking of Nicki......how did he get to the Semi's?

Even the Sky Sports guy's got it wrong...someone tell me how it works?

i think it is like this with each riders points/heat.

Greg 3,0,1,2,1 = 07

Nicki 0,1,3,2,1 = 07

Bjerre 0, 1, 1, 2, 3 = 07

they all have the same number of points (3,2,1,1,0)

so its down to their results against each other:

Bjerre beat Hancock 3-1 heat 18

Nicki also beat Greg 1-0 heat 7

Nicki beat Bjerre 3-1 heat 11

Nicki won over both Bjerre and Greg and therefore he qualified for the semis.

Thoroughly enjoyed watching that. Gutted for Gollob who was immense in his first five rides but you can't help but feel stoked for Holder.

Totally agree rockthedazbah one of the best just a shame Gollob didn't take it, one of the most natural riders ever to grace the sport, hope he wins the GP series this year

At least they only fell out on the night as opposed to the Team GB who have Nicholls and Harris hardly the best of mates for years

I just hope that Holder doesn't follow what Bomber has done.

I think Chris is fired up enough to realise he can get on the podium again,no fear.

A pretty decent GP, mainly because the track held out well.

Gutted for Gollob, he looks likes a world champion elect imho.

Holder deserved his win but what a silly pram moment with Crump.

Talking of idiots, well pedersen has shown that he is still the bad assed attitude rider he always was.

Good win by tai whilst the dirty Danes went at each other. Idiots. If they had raced the race they might have got more points.

The Brits , as expected, were leight weights.

Good to see fast Freddie getting to grips with the GP at last.

Brilliant Grand Prix it had everything, Cardiff seems to be improving every year!!

Terrible luck for Gollob but still one of his better British GP's.

Well done Holder a deserved winner.

Quite agree with you...its unfortunate that so many run down the GP's but they have been getting better and better everywhere...I know a few have been real dogs but generally its pretty good racing. I only get to go over there once every couple of years and I'm sorry to say after going to Wembley, Gothenburg and few others of the "One Off" World Finals...they are becoming a distant memory. If they can continue producing GP's like Leszno, Torun & Cardiff....it can only get better.

16 good races, and then it kinda of went flat and dull, Gollob's final ride the only piece of magic between Heat 17 and 23. 16 great heats of speedway with a superb track for racing and passing, then it is ruined. Take nothing away from Holder though, he was flying tonight and a well deserved win for the young man.

Crump showed the true pro he is too, being the first to congratulate his fellow native after the race on his victory, that's why in my view, Crump will always be a better world Champion, in stark contrast to one Mr Pedersen.

I'd prefer it if they used British girls, preferably Welsh... Another job lost to the Poles, no offence ;)

Hey Shadders sorry but offence taken at your Polish remark.People were quick enough to have a go at Dekkers 'stavros kebab king' remark about yourself. It goes both ways.I've come across a fair bit of anti-Polish crap in speedway and cycle speedway, and it's starting to get on my ** tbh.

On a better note i thought the GP was very entertaining tonight.Tomasz Gollob was immense and was a stick on to win. :( So unlucky to stop, best rider by a mile.Brits were guff though Scotty Nic deserved more for his efforts.Happy for Holder who rode really well and seems a bonzer bloke-good luck to him.

Just got back to my hotel on outskirts of Cardiff and I have to say what a fantastic GP. The track looked excellent, probably the best its ever been and that provided some good racing. So glad Holder won it, I was cheering him on once the Brits flopped.

I suppose Tai did okay with 6 and to be fair he rode a great last race. Bomber was piss poor really, 4 points from his first 2 rides and he still doesnt make it. Whats wrong with him, Cardiff is the pinnacle of the sport yet he seem not interested. His gating was awful and I feel Harris was a big let down. Scotty did okay, was quick in a few but as hes not a GP regular I didnt expect much.

Still enjoyed the day, the atmosphere and well done Noddy on his win.

The wife & I really enjoyed the GP, the whole day including the fanzone was top notch and it was interesting to hear from Edward Kennett, Briggo & Leigh Adams.

Thought the track was great, as was the racing and well done to Chris Holder who deserved his win.

Pedersen still an arse as ever, he was lucky that it was only Andersen he had a fall out with, as he tried to nail a couple of others in his rides and how Watt got excluded :( The ref only had two decisions to make all night (All 4 back with Crump was the other) and he got them both wrong :o

However, not to dwell on that, well done Holder, the wife was happy he won and I have to say the best rider won too. With Hampel taking the lead overall, it was a good night all round.

Well done Chris Holder - the first of several GP wins I feel!

Hard luck Tomasz Gollob but he still has a great chance of being World Champion this year.

I've never been a great fan of Jarek Hampel but he is certainly a much better rider than the often disinterested one who turned out for Ipswich so well done to him for raising his game and showing us what he can do. Having said that I seem to recall he came close to winning at Cardiff once before - 2006 I think!

Thought it was a good grand prix and Holder looked class. Gutted for Gollob as I think he would have won it.

Yet again the Brits were crap
