The H Man
With all due respect to the undoubted efforts of both Peter Oakes and Graham Reeve, neither (to my knopwledge) has ever ridden a speedway bike competitively, so they can hardly be described as 'coaches'. What it needs is for experienced ex-British riders - the likes of Mike Lee, Simmo, Kelvin Tatum, ideally one working with youngsters in each of the main regions of the country - to teach riding techniques and all the do's and don'ts from a very young age. I'm talking aged 8/9 upwards - not 15, by which time they should have already learned all the basic skills. Phil Morris has taken on the role of coach along with experienced mechanic Neil Vatcher and former rider/engine tuner Graham Jones. I know Phil has spent a lot of time with the under 15 riders and also with the more experienced guys as well. Lets hope the hard work pays off at the Under 21 final on Sunday. Parsloes 1928 nearly
My goodness, just four days to a World Cup Final being staged in this country with a - surely, unless this is me cursing it... - more than good chance of Team GB being successful, and virtually no interest on the subject of the BSF.. In an attempt to ramp up some interest and coz no-one's done it in full to date, here are what I understand to be the full team line-ups: SWEDEN 1 Simon Gustafsson © 2 Dennis Andersson 3 Ludvig Lindgren 4 Kim Nilsson 5 Linus Sundstrom DENMARK 1 Michael Jepsen Jensen 2 Rene Bach 3 Patrick Hougaard © 4 Lasse Bjerre 5 Peter Kildemand GREAT BRITAIN 1 Tai Woffinden © 2 Kyle Hughes 3 Josh Auty 4 Joe Haines 5 Lewis Bridger POLAND [Holders] 1 Maciej Janowski 2 Patryk Dudek 3 Artur Mroczka © 4 Przemyslaw Pawlicki 5 Dawid Lampart So come on then folks, how do we all see this one going... Am I right to believe our home quintet have a chance..?!

Am I right to believe our home quintet have a chance..?! Are you for real? The other three teams look a lot stronger than GB. Sundstrom is more than capable of defeating Woffinden around Rye these days. Hughes is a good PL reserve/second string but no match for the majority of the riders riding. Swedens weak link looks to be Nilsson on his previous showing at Rye, but apart from that the Swedes look pretty good. Poland also look outstanding and Denmark with Bach, Jensen and Hougaard look decent too. Be stunned if GB won this.

Hmm, I didn't go as far as saying GB would win (with my record on predictions that would be the ultimate jinx.. ) but are you seriously suggesting that of these four teams you think that our side have no chance... The Poles would be a shoo-in on home shale but RH may well be a completely different proposition for them. As for Sweden and the Danes do you honestly think that across the whole quintet they are THAT much stronger than the hosts..? And you appear to be dismissing the inherent home advantage with so many RH specialists in our side.. I tend to agree Kyle COULD be out of his depth but Bridger, Woffinden and Haines won't be... Put it this way, can you honestly conceive of any time when we'll have a better chance of winning this than this Sunday..?!!
Chris
Should be a cracker. Only meeting I've looked forward to attending at Rye for weeks. Some top young riders on display. The only worry with 25 heats is the track and if its sunny. Len isn't the best at keeping the track moist enough and if thats the case the track could go by half way and that would be a shame as it would be all about hitting the big blue groove meaning little racing. Vital he gets enough water in the surface throughout the day. Fancy the poles even though this is probably their worst sort of track, but will be slick, so they shouldn't have a problem. Think they would find it harder if it was grippy. GB should be in the mix. Woffinden knows the track like back of his hand and will score big in this company. Auty is quick at Rye, but can never get out of the gate, Bridger also quick round Rye, but needs to calm down and stay on the bike. Hughes is quick enough around Rye to beat any of the field if he gets fresh air, but he might feel the pressure and he is liable to poor rides. Haines confidence is shot, so whatever he picks up is a bonus. Hopefully has his gating boots on. Should be close between all teams. All look very evenly matched to me. Shadders
I believe turnstiles open at around 12.00pm on Sunday, September 5, with racing scheduled to start at 2.00pm. I thought I heard Craig announce 11am. I've been looking forward to this meeting since it was announced... Hopefully the track will be in tip top condition, but as anyone who's attended an afternoon meeting at Rye knows, it very rarely is.

I agree i too have been looking forward to this meeting for ages .As for the Rye track i hope it will be in till top condition but i think you should have put anyone who has atteneded a meeting at Rye will know its rearly is . I hope Len spends his seasons budget on shale for this meeting rather than the bucket full they normally use for league meetings and lets hope he gets a better way to water the track than he had for the Benifit meeting at the start of the season i never saw Pedersen crash for dust . I hope its a great day with an England win but i cant help but think its the wrong venue.
Chris
Nothing wrong with track or venue. Silver just has to make sure he floods the track Saturday night/Sunday morning and gets lots of moisture into the base, so it lasts the 25 heats then the quality young riders on display will do the rest. tyler42
I hope its a great day with an England win but i cant help but think its the wrong venue. I think this venue more than most would be a perfect pick for GB to have a chance of winning. If it were a bigger track, then the poles would be imo be favs. As it is, Rye House will certainty Level things up.

salty
Nothing wrong with track or venue. Agreed. Surprised we haven't had the usual calls to hold it at an "Elite" track. Good reward for the efforts at Rye over the past few years. Hope the weather is kind, the crowd is massive and the track prep allows a good 25 heats. fliss44
Is the 'back straight' open to spectators? i.e if we walk around to that area with chairs we will be able to ''park'' ourselves?

I'd be astonished if it wasn't... It always is!! Not sure about chairs though...: you do know what Uncle Len has pillaged every defunct stadium in London for their seats and there's loads in the place now!! There are parts of the back straight that has extra new barriers and is rather narrow - enough room to stand and let others pass-by but not so sure there would be if chairs are used. The sectiion approaching the 3rd bend should be ok

My group will probably bring our chairs and do a 'reccy' before we park up!
