GOLDEN HAMMER UPDATE

Tuesday 13 July 2010

DUDLEY Heathens Speedway bosses can confirm the FAST Golden Hammer individual meeting at Wolverhampton tonight is ON (7.30).

The Monmore Green track has taken light drizzle and is in perfect racing condition.

Just taken off the website

I'm coming over from Coventry in about an hour, good to hear & hope it stays ok out there.

We've only had light rain so far and that won't have caused any problems with the track. The radar suggests some heavier rain is possible/likely, but I would be very hopeful that with the weather having been soooo dry of late that the track can take it. After several hours of moderate rain yesterday the track staff still had to water the track before the Wolves v Swindon meeting, and Monmore does take the water well these days (and has done for many years now). A short delay, if required, to allow time for falling rain to stop would be acceptable as far as I'm concerned because I genuinely don't expect the track to become unridable.

It's a cracking looking line-up at this level and very tricky to pick a winner, or for that matter to pick a general finishing order throughout the field.

It's off...

DUDLEY Heathens Speedway have regrettably had to cancel tonight's eagerly awaited FAST Golden Hammer meeting at Wolverhampton due to the adverse weather.

The club are keen to do the showpiece event justice in the best possible conditions and it WILL BE RESTAGED later in the season.

Dudley's next home meeting is at Birmingham next Wednesday, July 21, against Isle of Wight Islanders.

I stopped over after going to the England v Bangladesh cricket, and Wolves v Swindon the day before. Both were excellent value for money. It only starting drizzling in the town centre at about 2.30pm.By 4pm,I was convinced it wouldnt go ahead,as the rain increased.

Got to the stadium at 5.30pm,just as Kyle arrived.Within a couple of minutes,it was called off.We took a look at the track and there was a huge puddle on the inside of the 1st turn.No way could anyone have cleared that in time.

Great shame,as it was a great looking field.

Hmm, 'spin' usually gets into gear a bit earlier than just a WEEK before a meeting!!

Still literally NOTHING on the Dudley website about riders invited to the restaging which is a week tomorrow..!

Article in this week's Star suggest riders to take part include:

Todd Kurtz (Newport)

Craig Cook (Buxton)

Nick Morris (Buxton)

Nicki Glanz (Plymouth)

Simon Lambert (King's Lynn)

James Sarjeant (Bournemouth)

Obviously they'll be a few home riders (am guessing say four of them...)which still leaves six places to fill...

Maybe a Scunny rider...?? Maybe if he's fit Buzz Burrows..??!!!:approve:

All the current Dudley riders will be riding along with the six riders named above. Joe Jacobs from Rye House is also included but we are currently awaiting fitness updates on Jon Armstrong and James Sarjeant. Adam McKinna was due to ride but he's unfortunately had to pull out due to Newcastle's re-arranged fixture at King's Lynn the same night.
