Anders
Sorry I wasn't able to post the usual preview last week for round 5, but I was away on holiday in Prague (Grand Prix) and Abensberg (SWC Qualifier), but now it's time for the round 6 preview, so here it goes: SWEDISH ELITSERIEN ROUND 6 Tuesday June 1st 2010 LEJONEN - ROSPIGGARNA at Axelent Arena, Gislaved After a smashing victory at Rospiggarna, Lejonen will look to get the remaining three points as well from this double header with the Hallstavik team. Leigh Adams, Chris Holder and Christian Agö have been replaced by Dave Watt and local riders David Ruud and Anton Göthberg. However, there are now questionmarks about the status of Troy Batchelor who withdrew from Peterborough yesterday due to the flu. Rospiggarna are missing both Jesper B Monberg and Sebastian Aldén through injuries, but should have Wieslaw Jagus back from last week's illness. Furthermore, Przemyslaw Pawlicki will drop down to reserve, and at the big Gislaved track, that might be an advantage for Rospiggarna as he could take six rides, and give back-up to the second strings. Lejonen (home) (63) 1. Nicki Pedersen 2. Mikael Max 3. Troy Batchelor 4. Dave Watt 5. David Ruud 6. Dennis Andersson 7. Anton Göthberg ( 8. - ) Rospiggarna (away) (33) 1. Mads Korneliussen 2. Kauko Nieminen 3. Wieslaw Jagus 4. Ben Barker 5. Ryan Sullivan 6. Anton Rosén 7. Przemyslaw Pawlicki ( 8. Linus Lydin ) *-*-* VALSARNA - DACKARNA at Emtbjörks AB Arena, Hagfors After a surprise point against Lejonen in round 4, Valsarna were on the wrong side of a hammering in round 5. In that meeting, they were missing the services of the Laguta brothers, and had Tomasz Gapinski as a scratch for that one. Now, both Grigorijs and Artem Laguta are back in the line-up, as well as Tomasz Gapinski. They replace the trio of Chris Slabon, Matej Kus and Robin Törnqvist who scored 12 points between them at Målilla last week. For Dackarna, there are no surprises in their line-up for this one. The partnerships of Jonsson/Andersen and Lindgren/Karlsson remains, but Jonsson/Andersen moves to number 1/2. Valsarna (home) (34) 1. Grigorijs Laguta 2. Artem Laguta 3. Sebastian Ulamek 4. Tomasz Gapinski 5. Daniel Nermark 6. Henrik Gustafsson 7. Anders Mellgren ( 8. Victor Palovaara ) Dackarna (away) (62) 1. Andreas Jonsson 2. Hans Andersen 3. Fredrik Lindgren 4. Peter Karlsson 5. Rune Holta 6. Ricky Kling 7. Ludvig Lindgren ( 8. Joel Larsson ) *-*-* INDIANERNA - VARGARNA at ICA-Maxi Arena, Kumla Last weeks meeting in Norrköping got rained off, so no aggregated point will be up for grab. The Indians are missing the services of the injured Niels-Kristian Iversen, and with Leon Madsen filling his place, Renat Gafurov doesn't fix under the maximum limit of 42.00. Daniel Jeleniewski makes his debut for Indianerna at reserve, just as Pontus Nilsson makes his debut as the number eight junior after a string of solid scores in Division 1. Vargarna have opted to scratch skipper Tai Woffinden for their second away meeting of the season, with Daniel King makes his season debut for the Wolves side. Scott Nicholls drops to reserve for the first time this season, where he should be able to score a bag load of points, despite it being away on a big track. Otherwise, there are no major changes in Vargarna's line-up for the meeting. Indianerna (home) 1. Magnus Zetterström 2. Bjarne Pedersen 3. Piotr Protasiewicz 4. Leon Madsen 5. Grzegorz Walasek 6. Simon Gustafsson 7. Daniel Jeleniewski ( 8. Pontus Nilsson ) Vargarna (away) 1. Adrian Miedzinski 2. Daniel King 3. Krzysztof Kasprzak 4. Adam Skornicki 5. Adam Shields 6. Kim Nilsson 7. Scott Nicholls ( 8. André Hertzberg ) *-*-* VÄSTERVIK - PIRATERNA at Sparbanken Arena Västervik The Västervik side put up a fight in Motala last week, being down by only six points at the interval before dropping another ten points in the six remaining heats. The same eight riders will participate this week, with some changes being made to the riding order. Robin Messing takes the number six race jacket and seems to be making his first meeting with scheduled rides, with Robin Bergqvist being the number eight junior. Piraterna are - of course - still missing the service of the injured Emil Sayfutdinov, as they come to start with the same riders who rode in last week's fixture at home, though with some schuffle of the riding order by team manager Stefan Andersson. Västervik (home) (40) 1. Rafal Okoniewski 2. Peter Ljung 3. Chris Harris 4. Tomasz Jedrzejak 5. Tomasz Gollob 6. Robin Messing 7. Nicolai Klindt ( 8. Robin Bergqvist ) Piraterna (away) (56) 1. Jonas Davidsson 2. Damian Balinski 3. Greg Hancock 4. Rafal Dobrucki 5. Antonio Lindbäck 6. Linus Sundström 7. Robert Kosciecha ( 8. Tomas Bäck ) This meeting will be broadcasted on Canal+. *-*-* Live updates from all meetings will be available on www.speedway.nu from 19:00 local time. WembleyLion
Thanks as always Anders. I'm currently in Sweden for three days and on my way to Kumla and really looking forward to the match between Indianerna and Vargarna. There were a fair few Speedway fans (and riders of course) on the 06.05 from Stansted this morning.

brandonbee48
Great heat 14 Greg has to be the fairest rider in speedway. He could have stuffed him on lap 3, but waited and then got his team mate through also. Vastervik will win but a good meeting on a nice Swedish evening. Thanks for pointing out these streams. Wonderful. Alan.

brandonbee48
Apart from when Greg nailed Ljung in heat 7 on the last bend-however Ljung pulled a naughy move on Greg on the lap previous. When he was with the Bees i wrote to him and asked for an autograph for my son who was 4 at the time. He sent him a shed load of pictures, stickers and Speedway Stars with cover pictures. Then when we went over the next year he had us in the pits and we took photos of my son on his bike. My son will never forget that and nor will i. Great bloke and a credit to the sport. Till the next one, best Wishes. Alan.

André Hertzberg *-*-* VÄSTERVIK - PIRATERNA 53-43 (93-99) at Sparbanken Arena Västervik Attendence: 1677 Heat details, courtesy of www.speedway.nu. The Canal+ meeting of the week produced some exiting racing, perhaps not as spectactular that the commentators made it out to be, though every meeting is better to watch live of course. Heat 14 was the best one, with Greg Hancock and tactical substitution Jonas Davidsson saving a share heat as they both passed Rafal Okoniewski in an all action heat. However, with Tomasz Gollob winning that heat, it meant that Piraterna suffered their first loss of the season. Västervik (home) 53 (93) 1. Rafal Okoniewski 2*-2-3-0-1* = 8+2 (5) 2. Peter Ljung 3-3-0-2-1* = 9+1 (5) 3. Chris Harris 3-3-T-1*-2 = 9+1 (5) 4. Tomasz Jedrzejak 0-1-3-1 = 5 (4) 5. Tomasz Gollob 2-3-3-3-2 = 13 (5) 6. Robin Messing 0-0-N-N = 0 (2) 7. Nicolai Klindt 1-2*-2*-0-1-3 = 9+2 (6) 8. Robin Bergqvist 0 = 0 (1) Piraterna (away) 43 (99) 1. Jonas Davidsson 0-0-2-3-1*-3 = 9+1 (6) 2. Damian Balinski 1-2-1*-0 = 4+1 (4) 3. Greg Hancock 2-1-2-2-3 = 10 (5) 4. Rafal Dobrucki 1*-1-3-2-0-0 = 7+1 (6) 5. Antonio Lindbäck 3-0-0-N-R = 3 (4) 6. Linus Sundström 2*-0-N-2 = 4+1 (3) 7. Robert Kosciecha 3-1-1-1* = 6+1 (4) 8. Tomas Bäck For Västervik, Okoniewski did a good job as heat leader and looked fast throughout the night. Ljung had a solid job as second string, and overall has had a much better season so far, than the previous season in Vetlanda. Harris chipped in with a solid paid ten, despite a touch/tape exclusion as Lindbäck twitched to lure Harris into the tapes. Jedrzejak was OK for his position in the team. Gollob was as good as he can be, when he wants to. Messing was out of depth, though he made a good gate in his first. Klindt has taken some steps forward, that's for sure. Bergqvist only had one ride, so I won't judge him on that. For Piraterna, Davidsson started very poor, but changed bike after his second ride, as suggested on the score sheet. Balinski did what could be expected of him. Hancock was OK, but can do better than this, I'm sure. Dobrucki gated like a rocket all night, but was too slow early on, and then rode some strange lines on the track, so lost several points. Lindbäck was a one heat wonder, looked awful after his first blinding ride when he beat Gollob. Sundström can't be blamed for the loss, he did his part tonight. Kosciecha was OK, but nothing special for a rider of his caliber riding at reserve. Man of the match: Tomasz Gollob Most exciting rider: Rafal Okoniewski *-*-* CURRENT STANDING (after 6 rounds): 1. Dackarna, 6, 5-1-0, 3/3, 14p (+87) 2. Piraterna, 6, 5-0-1, 3/3, 13p (+55) 3. Lejonen, 6, 4-1-1, 3/3, 12p (+58) 4. Västervik, 6, 3-0-3, 1/3, 7p (-26) 5. Elit Vetlanda, 4, 2-1-1, 1/2, 6p (+28) 6. Indianerna, 5, 2-0-3, 0/2, 4p (-11) -------------------------------------------------- 7. Valsarna, 4, 0-1-3, 0/2, 1p (-63) 8. Vargarna, 3, 0-0-3, 0/1, 0p (-44) 9. Rospiggarna, 6, 0-0-6, 0/3, 0p (-84) Last week's postponed meeting between Vargarna and Indianerna will be ridden on Wednesday June 16th. *-*-* NEXT ROUND - TUESDAY JUNE 8TH 2010: Elit Vetlanda - Lejonen Västervik - Indianerna Rospiggarna - Valsarna (on Canal+) Vargarna - Dackarna
