Agree with you on that one YH5-1... That's a tough group 1...

Group 2 is that little bit easier, and with the absence of Joe Screen then we gotta fancy our chances of at least getting out that group - though I believe it'll be Ryan and Andy from them 3 as Kevin is racing on the continent...

However, if we could've chosen, then I'd use Matty round OTA - definitely our best man round there...

Wonder if Edinburgh were in group one and the promotion found an average change type of thing and moved into group two then said no Screen

So we can't have Joe for this staging , but yet we could use Craig Watson in 2007 who hadn't actually rode in an official match for us at that time - explain me that one

In saying that , Josh is pretty good round the OTA - but not having Joe devalues things a bit .

What if 2 of the top 3 are not available ?

As will happen here , cause there's some Mickey Mouse foreign rubbish on this same weekend . Can't imagine Joe will be riding in that though .

I dunno. Maybe Glasgow could say both Josh & Lee are elsewhere that day and use Screen instead. Seems rather silly that one of the PL's biggest events is taking placing without arguably the best rider in the entire league.

It's the day before Cardiff, so what better way of getting the GP crowd there than the presence of Havelock & Screen - these are the names that floating supporters will recognise. It's a big own goal not having Screen at Somerset.

All the best

Rob

Pretty sure I read that Linus Sundstrom is otherwise engaged, so it looks like I won't be in attendance... Plus Berwick haven't qualified, so the other half won't want to go.

Be interesting to see if the BSPA make a statement regarding why Joe Screen isn't in the line-up . But i'm not holding my breath .

If Screen isnt at the meeting then its a disgrace,he is a Glasgow rider.

As the pairs stand at the minute Im going for the Newcastle Diamonds to take the title.

Havelock is certainly no drawcard nowadays.

I would think the most likely reason is Screen wasn't in Glasgow's team by the cut off date. But until we know when that date was it's a guessing game.

It was a farce when Craig Watson was allowed to represent Glasgow when he hadn't turned a wheel for them.

And I'm sure the Premier League Best Pairs is considered really important in Europe. In fact I'm not sure it's even important outside of, well, the Premier League, if that. If it wasn't a good stopping off point on the way to Cardiff, I doubt that many would bother about it anyway.

I do wish people would respect speedway in other countries, but typical of many UK fans is that nothing else matters, when in fact it's UK domestic speedway that becomes less and less important to many riders each year.

I can't seem to edit my previous post so will have to do another one.

Glasgow fans seem to think they are being singled out with Screen not being in the line-up. What about James Grieves not being allowed to represent Redcar?

With that in mind there must have been a cut off date or maybe a rider has to have ridden a set amount of meetings for their club now so that we don't have the farce of 2007 when Craig Watson was allowed to represent a club he hadn't ridden for.

Maybe not to you or me, but he is to the armchair viewer who goes along to one meeting at Cardiff each year. And so would be Joe Screen. If Screen isn't allowed to ride, then it's an opportunity wasted to draw along the casual fan.

All the best

Rob
