Bryn
Hmm, except this was Simon who suggested this not me. Once upon a time YOU agreed. But then you became such an 'establishment' man!! Reminds me of another ex-Oxford person I could mention...!!! Who's that then Parsnips old fruit? Don't stress too much though if you can't remember as I'm told the memory banks started to fade once you reach 50 years of age. Certainly not looking forward to that when I reach that milestone as I see you do today! Edited May 19, 2010 by Bryn
Pinny
The fact that teams were drawn out of a hat for this event is a complete shambles. Why not work it out like the Premier League and have a cut off dayte and use the averages to that date? Newport have a cracking team full of young guns who are probably one of the most entertaining teams in the League. They are sitting top of the NL too. It is a complete farce that they are not in this competition when other teams are. I know Newport fans were arranging a coach for this event which would of been full due to the fact the fans love a winning team and we would of probably won the fours or at least made the final. So thats a potential couple of hundred quid lost out on for whoever gets the proceeds. Hornets averages 2010 Its worth checking that out and seeing just how strong the Hornets team is. Scroll down to bottom to see. As I have said before and I will say again, the leaders of the sport in this country are nothing but a complete farce. THis is possibly the worst decision of the season so far.

I have to admit,I agree with this. Surely,as a showpiece for the NL,you need the best available Teams? There must be a better way than to draw teams out of a hat, surely? Rank amaturism. The apparent contempt the BSPA have for the NL is aptly shown up in the weekly round up on the main BSPA website. All Ive read ALL season so far has been..........NATIONAL LEAGUE action continues and you can find all relevant news, reports and other information in the NL section on http://www.speedwaygb.com/ Every other club has a paragraph about whats happened, but the NL is always dismissed in this manner. For gawds sake BSPA get out of your Ivory Towers and promote the lower level. There is some great action to be seen each week.
Parsloes 1928 nearly
I suppose the real challenge was, was it possible to organise this involving all 11 NL clubs..? Here's an idea - allow Sittingbourne in it too (actually - amazingly - the Crusaders were third place last time the Fours was staged! ) and make it 12 teams. Have three groups of Four with the top team in each plus the highest scoring runners up reaching the Final. Yes: more races, more riders, more points money but would've made a great showpiece event.. steve gresham
Have to agree with the above posts, this is totally wrong to omit the Hornets who would be one of the favourites to win this competition. They have Todd Kurtz of the averages and three other riders in the top twenty. This has devalued the tournament to a farce.

Shadders
The fact that teams were drawn out of a hat for this event is a complete shambles. It should've been the top 8 finishers in the NL last year, but then Mildenhall wouldn't have been appearing, which would've been rather embarrassing considering they're hosting the meeting!! There's your answer as to why the teams were drawn from a hat

There's your answer as to why the teams were drawn from a hat But what would have happened if Mildenhall hadn't been drawn as that was a risk they ran by drawing out of a hat. Or were Mildenhall automatically seeded through because they are the hosts?
cityrebel
the format for this competition is the reason why i stopped going to pairs and fours events years ago. almost all of the meetings i go to now are league or cup matches.

iand
yes but then dudley wouldnt have been there.i make the prediction now that there will be more dudley fans there than any other team.including mildenhall I went to Midenhall v Rye House Cobras last Sunday and was very suprised at the size of the crowd. Very small considering it was a local derby. probably about 50 Rye fans. I know it clashed with the England 20/20 Cricket final but can't believe that would have made much difference to the attendance figures. Kings Lynn, Rye House and Dudley need to be their just to boost the crowd figures.
Ben91
Regarding Jerran Hart, is he not obliged to be at this meeting as it is a shared event? I know in the past when the NLRC (formerly CLRC) was at Rye, we usually were away at Stoke and our NL/CL representative, generally being a Rockets reserve, had to be at Rye, whilst we took a guest to Loomer Road... Strange why Newport aren't represented tbh, quite funny too as the amount of posts from their fans here, they seem the most excited about it Edited May 20, 2010 by RocketBen1

So unless Mildenhall have first call on Jerran's services (unlikely as he has already missed matches due to fixture clashes) he will br riding for Scunny that day. father jack
Could someone explain the criteria for selection for this meeting ? I find it staggering that the Newport Hornets aren't taking part, The team of Atkin, Jones, Newman, and Kurtz would be a very attractive addition. Parsloes 1928 nearly
Hmm, no - but I can explain that you've committed the cardinal sin of thinking of discussing the, er, National League Fours in the, um, National League section!!! Mimmo
In all my years of going to speedway, I've never seen a track in such bad condition as that at Mildenhall yesterday, and I hope for the sake of everybody, it's sorted before the 4TT Final. It's a shame really, because it's a smashing little venue, and the club have a good team, but the track is just not worthy of such a presgtious event in its current state.
